The Space

This lovely apartment is located next to Campo San Bortolo, a famous square located right between Saint Mark’s square and Rialto bridge. Piazza San Marco is probably the best known spot in town, and it is so important amongst locals that it is said that everyone who lives in Venice passes beyond San Marco at least once a day. The wonderful square in front of the cathedral, full of children who feed the birds, souvenir sellers and cafés with live music (some of which are probably the most expensive coffee bars in Italy!), is definitely a must for those who visit marco Polo's town. As you walk around it, don't forget to have a look at the Palazzo Ducale (Duke's Palace) and its Ponte dei Sospiri (Bridge of Sighs), which joins the courtroom with the ancient jail. For those who are not scared of heights, we recommend climbing the tower, which overlooks the entire town

This apartment is located on the second floor (lift unavailable). It has been recently renovated and sports numerous typical features, such as Venetian flooring and exposed wooden beamed ceilings.
The apartment is composed by a small living room, two double bedrooms (with a Queen size bed each), a kitchen and a bathroom with a shower.
The apartment includes air conditioning (from middle May on) 2 TV sets (TV only in Italian), a microwave and an iron.

  • in a group of four friends we spent 3 nights at the apartment of monica. it is really fine located, very central in a small side-street of the main touristic path.
there are two restaurants above, quite nice.
the apartment is perfect for 4 people. the two bedrooms have a good size, in each of them there is a comfortable double-bed. the kitchen is well-equiped. there is enough space to prepare and consume a dinner for four. a coop-supermarket is located in 5 min walking distance.

  • A very friendly and efficient welcome awaited us in Venice. The apt is VERY centrally located and it was fun to be woken in the morning to the sounds of Venice getting ready for the day ahead. The apartment is compact and fully equiped for all that we needed. A tip for other visitors is "when you come out of the apartment and turn right to the Campo San Bartholomio, turn left and take the second left and it is a very easy shortcut to San Marco... avoiding all of the crowds.

  • The San Bortolomio Apartment is at the very heart of Venice (right next to the Rialto bridge and a short walk from san marco basilica) and we couldn't have wished for a better location for our little getaway! There are two spacious bedrooms, a small but well equipped kitchen that will allow you to enjoy coffee and make a simple meal! Bathroom has an iron and a hairdryer and there will be fresh towels waiting for you. Overall a very positive experience and we are already looking forward to coming back!!!

  • The apartment was lovely. Everything was as described and the apartment was situated in a great location (very close to all the major attractions). Monica was always prompt in replying to questions and giving directions.

  • The apartment is nice and clean, in a good location near the Rialto bridge in Venice, but beware: Monica is a tricky host. She was cold and unfriendly when we arrived, and tried to schedule maintenance work on the property during our three day stay. When the shower hose burst - obviously due to long-term wear and tear - she accused us of breaking it and tried to charge us, only backing down when AirBnB got involved. She then said she couldn't fix it for 24 hours but again backed down after AirBnB intervened on our behalf. Monica's negative approach spoiled what was otherwise a lovely stay in the city. Avoid.

    Response from Monica:

    Dear Zara,
just to your knowledge, according to the Italian law, the owner has the right of access to his apartment, even in the presence of guests needed in case we have to do some maintenance or exceptional service.
We had an appointment for the annual check of the boiler (it was half an hour, however, in that time it involved no trouble) but you have answered me that I should give you back 50 euro for it.
About the shower, since the problem happened on Sunday, I told you that the solution will be within 24.00 hours, probably on Monday but even you again wanted the money back I find an emergency plumber very very expensive .
I also was nice at your arrival and not as you wrote cold and unfriendly.

  • Our stay at Monica's apartment was lots of fun. The apartment is very central - amongst the hustle and bustle. Monica was very efficient and easy to communicate with.

  • Although this apartment is just one minute away from the Rialto bridge and although there are two restaurants very close, it's still in a quiet street. This is no real "living room" as the hall feels a bit narrow, but still, it feels good to back to this nice apartment after a long walk in the city, to take a breather before going to find a place to eat.
