We rented the castle for a weekend for our wedding. Domenic responded quickly to any demands we had.
We arrived about a week after the ice storm. Toronto had many power outages including at the castle. The staff got an electrician to power up the castle which was plugged on an other building. We also had a phone number for any emergency if anything would happen.
Staying in a castle is quite an experience. There are so many hidden spot and corners in that place. Everyone had a wonderful time. We would go back anytime.
We stayed here with all our relatives for 3 days before our wedding. It's a great experience to stay in a castle. Much easier to organize everyone because we are all in one place. Location is perfect - stores, restaurants, beautiful places and parks for walks are all steps away. Domenic was easy to reach and responded within minutes.
My friends, family and I had an amazing time at this castle for our wedding weekend! We had a range of guests staying with us from overseas and they were all blown away with how amazing this place was. Domenic was most helpful, providing us extra beds, baby cots and a bbq for our weekend. And although a mini tornado caused some damage to some of our guests' cars, Domenic has made efforts to help sort this out. We definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a bit of space and some very interesting and unique accommodations!
Very cool and unusual place to stay, many nooks and crannies to discover inside. It was the perfect place for my big family of 11 to stay. Domenic, Filomena and Brother Domenic were perfect hosts, making sure we had everything we needed, even 2 cribs for our small babies. Filomena made an amazing breakfast for our whole family, that was a very pleasant surprise, as it was not expected. Everyone was super friendly, but the place was so big, we rarely saw anyone, unless we looked for them. The location was perfect too, walking distance to restaurants and all the shops in the trendy downtown. Also, the subway is very close if you don't want to walk. Definitely, the most unique place we have stayed so far.
Thank you Domenic!
This property is as vast as it is interesting.
With a wonderful view over Toronto and an easy walk to various attractions, it is the ideal location for any large group. I organized for two sporting teams to stay there and we unanimously agreed that it was the greatest placed we had ever used as a base.
There are several huge reception rooms along with more intimate spaces. In amongst the many extras are a lovely billiards room and a terrace with a barbecue. The bedrooms are very well proportioned and a few have really interesting features like a turret. There are a large number of bathrooms and everything is very clean. The kitchens are very large with an industrial dishwasher that makes cleaning up easy.
Best of all, the place is run by the super friendly and helpful Domenic. He took care of all of our requests without any issue at all.
I would very happily recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in a place full of history and character.
This was a beautiful castle, however I would not recommend staying overnight in this establishment. Upon first meeting the property manager, he seemed welcome and professional. This impression was destroyed the morning after our stay. We had agreed to have a 4:00pm late check-out time for myself and my guests, but to our surprise we were woken up to a full cleaning staff that arrived at 9:30am and disposed of many of our belongings, food, etc. Losses were in the hundreds of dollars. Birthday presents were disposed of by property management without our consent, and before we were even awake. We were told if we wanted anything that was disposed of back, we could dig through the trash outside the building. This was before 10:00am! We promptly left before noon because we felt incredibly uncomfortable, and upset due to these unexpected turn of events.
Additionally, we were told that the $300 cleaning fee would cover the cost of maids cleaning any used glassware/kitchenware, etc. for up to 30 people, but after check-out, the property management submitted a claim to keep the $500 deposit for additional cleaning fees. Beware.
What supposedly was to be a family gathering turned out to be a group of irresponsible young people quite unrelated.
My description and rules of the castle are perfectly clear and I never had any problems with past clients. We have corporate and private functions and often big families choose our location for accommodation.
Tiffany pretended to rent the castle for a family get together saying that there was going to be a dinner. Sixteen people staying overnight and anther fourteen for the dinner. Believing her I closed an eye and I let her have the extra people for the dinner.
This booking was on a Sunday. As written in the description, no parties are allowed without permission. There is no smoking on our property and certainly no use of illegal substances.
Upon our arrival, all the floors on the main floor were covered with alcohol and there was garbage everywhere.
Despite our policy, guests smoked in the common areas and in the bedrooms.
Since our offices are open on Monday mornings we expected things to be in order. As a concession I allowed the group a late check-out but it was clear that the building was to be cleaned before working hours.
We usually have staff on site when we have events but since Tiffany got me to believe that it was simply a family dinner and so I didn't have anyone there in order to give them more privacy. If I had someone there, we would have called the police and kicked them all out.
The President of the College, Brother Domenic, was shocked and disturbed by the condition of the castle. These people, apparently university students, were disrespectful of the heritage building and the Christian mission of the school.
Our rules do allow us to ask such clients to leave but we allowed them to leave in plenty of time and without informing the police.
This dishonest person shouldn’t even try to make up things and even to leave comments.
Since she goes into useless details about her things that she claims that were lost, let me make a few comments
First, we had to apologize to the parents of the school who were early that morning.
Second, there was no way that these students would have cleaned that mess in few hours. In fact used extra cleaners from the School and had to hire a company for stains and odors.
Third, they weren't asked to leave and whatever was left behind, they simply forgot and it is still in the fridge with other stuff stored in the kitchen. As Christians and civilized people we don't trash food! I took pictures of what is left and sent them to airbnb. Other stuff that she claims she left was either not here to begin with or her wild guests took everything.
Fourth, her claims that she bought cleaning supply is false. We have the receipts for those things she claimed that she purchased (sent already to airbnb together with all the pictures of the damages).
Fifth, she left without asking me anything. I would have helped to find any stuff that actually belonged to her. She can come to get the few items she left behind but I'm sure that she is too ashamed to show up.
Sixth, the late check-out was given to them to relax and have breakfast. It wasn't given to them to clean. Normally for a dinner of 30 people we would expect to clean the hall and the washrooms, but not, the entire building which was left in a complete shambles.
Our school is a prestigious catholic private school and this is the first time that the former residence of the Brothers was left in such a terrible state.
She also breached airbnb's terms and conditions and I hope to get compensated and that she gets expelled from here.
