ENTIRE historic HOUSE with a sunny roof terrace, by the important Plaza de Santo Domingo, next to many of the best restaurants, cafes, bars, museums, shops, Cathedral etc.Let centuries old wood & stone work their magic in this home of two architects.
Several hundred years old house by an important PLAZA all for your private use! Recently reformed with great care. VEGUETA is the most antique and beautiful district of Las Palmas. At walking distance, here in the picturesque old town - you’ll find shops and Market Hall, fancy bars and restaurants, live music, art galleries, museums such as CAAM of Contemporary Art or the Columbus House, the Cathedral and the famous pedestrian TRIANA shopping district. It takes 5 minutes to walk to coastline of the Atlantic Ocean, and there are several beaches along the over 10 km sea promenade. The great Las Canteras beach is just a bike ride away, or a few minutes by bus, plus taxis are delightfully inexpensive.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen with integrated dishwasher, fridge and a freezer, fan oven, microwave oven, coffee machine, toaster, and a reversed osmosis system to get good drinking water from a special tap. The washing machine is at the private roof terrace. The terrace is pointed to south, and there are growing curative aloe vera plants that the guests are free to use for their skin and hair care.
We believe that you would enjoy this house, and its privileged surroundings!

We had a lovely stay at St Sunday, Sirkku and her family are great hosts and they helped us with reservations for restaurants and gave us good advice on nice places to visit. We found that the apartment was even more fantastic in real life than on the images. The surroundings is very nice and we enjoyed Vegueta-Christmaslife with a Christmasconcert on the St Ana-plaza, buying food in the old market and going out for pinxtos on thursday night with the locals. We would really like to come back and can strongly recommend a stay at any of Sirkku and Mikaels places.
St. Sunday was just great: in the middle of the old town Vegueta hence Close to all hot spots, the bus stations and the sea but also quiet. Sirrku and Mika are great host: they picked us up from the Airport and gave us valuable tipps for hiking and other tourist attractions. I can really recommend this place and I think that everybody will enjoy this wonderful home.
We were so lucky to find this wonderful house in Las Palmas on Airbnb! The house is hundreds of years old and has been lovingly restored by Architects Sirkku and Mika in their own very cool style. This impressive restoration maintains the historic characteristics with bare stone walls and stone flooring with a modern kitchen and comfortable living and bed rooms. Vagueta is the oldest and most beautiful part of the city, maintaining its Canarian culture and remains completely unspoilt by tourism. We would highly recommend this fabulous house and wonderful area to other couples looking for a culture-filled stay in Las Palmas. The marvellous “Las Cateras” beach is just 10 minutes drive from the house.
Dear Matthew, we are very happy that you found us, it was a pleasure to be your host. Yes, the old town has been able to hold on to it´s original flavor for over 500 years, even though this capital city around it has grown grown, and the "out side" world has completely changed. And great that you got to enjoy twice of the famous Ruta de los Pinchos, when many of these near by gobbled pedestrian streets turn into a mixture of a public living room and a fiesta each Thursday evening. For us Vegueta is an oasis here in the subtropics. Thank you for visiting us!
We really enjoyed our stay at St. Sunday in June 2013!!
Sirkku's very nice house offers an impressing mixture of scandinavian/canarian style.
Around the house you have an Havanna feeling specially when the old boys from "Orden del Cachorro" are making music on the square.
The CAAM Museum was a big surprise! Dont miss it (and all the other historical museums and places...)
So, everything was much better than we could have expected...

El orden del Cachorro, the guardians of the Canarian culture, are really a treasure. And to have them next door is a treat, and we are very happy that you enjoyed them too. The picturesque old town surprises every new visitor with is´t long history and authenticity! Thank you for staying in our Sr. Sunday House, and maybe we´ll have the pleasure to have you here again in the future!
A fabulous experience! St Sunday isn't the pearl of the old town but its diamond and Sirkku and her husband are real gems too! They were so welcoming, helpful and kind. They took care of us as if we were friends or relatives, they answered all our questions and went out of their ways to make our holiday perfect, they answered our requests with enthusiasm and kindness each time. We thought the house itself was amazing: it was renovated with much love and attention and respect for its old walls and history. Each and every detail was thought about which gave it a really cosy and welcoming feel. It is a clever mix of old and new. We were particularly impressed by the lovely floors, doors, and lovely mirrors, chandeliers and artwork scattered around the house. The bedroom on the first floor, which we slept in, was so comfortable, a little love nest!;). The roof terrace is so spacious and especially well oriented for breakfast, sunbathing & evening drinks. We also really appreciated and were happily surprised by the fact that the house is "semi-open", it made it cool at night and thus ideal for sleeping.
The kitchen is super well equipped just perfect for us with a baby. We also really appreciated the location of the house practically on the santo Domingo plaza! The church bells rang every hour from 8am till 10pm which can be a bit deafening but that didn't bother us. The Vegueta and Triana areas are gorgeous, lots of lovely plazas with cafés, museums, shops and a great food market... we have to admit we didn't expect Las Palma to be such a pretty city! This is our best airbnb experience yet. A warm and huge thank-you to Sirkku, Mica and their kids for allowing us to stay in their home and making this holiday truly special for us.
Marie-Pierre, you have a lovely family, and you are clearly a person with exceptionally wide range of capacities combined with warmth that is a privilege to receive. Your eyes see a lot, and that makes you a very interesting person to talk to. It would be a joy to meet you again! Thank you for staying at our home, and muchas gracias for writing such a fantastic and complete review!!! I am positive that your writing also helps the possible future guests to get a better overall picture of this centuries old house, and of Vegueta and Triana : ).
It was a wonderful stay. The house is quiet tiny but it has everything you need. Its perfect for a couple or a familiy with children. The house is wonderful renovated and perfectly situated - We loved Plaza Santo Domingo. Sirkku and Mika are helpful and soo kind hosts. And one of the best things is Cachurro right behind the house.
Thank you Corinna! And since also Orden del Cachorro was so pleased to have you as our guests visiting their center of the Canarian culture, I shall add a photo of their lovely music room to our pictures so that future guests would find their way to this "treasure" just few steps from our house.
