This was hands down the best Air BnB experience we have had since joining. The butterfly cottage was fantastic, the views are spectacular and the star gazing at night from the hammock was a highlight of our trip. The interior of the little house was beautifully appointed, with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, a lovely bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and a washer/dryer in the house. We ate breakfast on the little deck every morning overlooking the valley and ocean beyond it, and had fun visiting with the goats and ducks that live on the property. The hosts were gracious in the privacy they offered, (they live down the hill a bit) so we never really saw them, except a quick wave when we crossed paths at the mailbox. My husband and I plan to come back here to stay next year, as this cottage will always hold a special place in our heart.
Place was lovely and very secluded . Nice basket of treats on the table, so thoughtful. The washer dryer was great so we didn't have to pack as many clothes and was a great base for riding up haleakala and hiking in the park.
I bet I will never forget this wonderful cottage. We're kinda tired of "ocean views" so when we first saw Shavon's cottage online, my boyfriend and I decided to book it. We were impressed by the detailed road direction. You may feel a bit afraid if you check in at late night. But when we first saw that, we burst out the same word "WOW". I even sent the pictures of the cottage to my parents and they told us to make sure we keep the contact info of the host because they definitely want to stay here when they get the chance to Maui. We enjoyed the full kitchen, the French window, the last game of Rockets v. Clippers. We were happy to meet Spaceship, Astronaut, Snoopy, who are 2 sheep and a kitten. It was really an amazing experience. Thanks Shavon for allowing us to stay!
The cottage was wonderful! Views were better than pictures show, the ducks and goats were super fun to have around, and the place was very central, so it was easy to explore the whole island like we did. 10/10 would stay again.
This cottage was amazing. Everything written about it is accurate but when you are there, the cottage/the setting/the everything is better than you could hope for. The cottage was very private, very clean, and very well maintained. It was somehow cozy and spacious at the same time. We found it to be in a great place in Maui: Makawao was cool to explore and it was a short distance to a ton of nature hikes and adventures. There was great animal life (friendly cat and ducks mostly) around the cottage too to always keep us company and entertained :)
Loved it. Would certainly stay there again.
This is a really nice rental. The pictures of the property are accurate and the cottage is well decorated and clean. We also thought the location was ideal for visiting nearby national parks and for hiking. The only bad thing about this property is that it has quite a few bugs in it. We noticed that the owner had put bug traps throughout the unit, but we still had to kill quite a few insects each night we were there and were also stung a few times. I think some caulking around the windows would easily remedy the situation. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay.
Many thanks for the great review. Unfortunately as Hawaii is a tropical island you will encounter bugs island wide no matter where you are. We feel fortunate that at our elevation we do not get the biting centipedes that are common in wetter areas such as Haiku or the scorpions that you find in Kihei or Lahaina, however we do encourage guests to keep the screen door closed and not to leave food on the kitchen counters as this will encourage ants to come in. We do not have stinging insects (other than bees) here on Maui so we assume you meant that you were bitten by mosquitoes- again, keeping the screen door closed is a simple remedy to the situation. Mahalo again for staying with us :)
