Our casita is located in the neighborhood of Taos known as Canon, a charming agrarian community that is in close proximity to downtown Taos. You can spend the day skiing, going to museums, the plaza, the Taos Pueblo, The Rio Grande gorge, white water rafting, gallery hopping and fine dining; then retreat to your hideaway for replenishment.. If tomorrow you desire a more mellow day, walk out the door into the Carson National Forest, set up your easel. or enjoy a few hours in our organic garden.
The casita, situated on two beautiful acres, is a one bedroom (queen size Tempurpedic mattress)/ one bath with a fully provisioned kitchen and lovely living room. It is tastefully appointed with many pieces of art by local artists. The floors in the bedroom are Saltillo tile and the living area has warm wood floors.
Although we list our casita as sleeping 2 people, we probably could accommodate a young child.
This was exactly what we were looking for. It was close to town but still felt secluded. The casita had everything we needed to have a great vacation. It's a short drive to great skiing. Ed and Melissa were great hosts. They ensured we had everything we needed, including amazing homemade cookies. We would recommend the casita to anyone hoping for a fun, relaxing vacation.

We very much enjoyed the comfortable, spacious casita, our gracious, and interesting hostess, Melissa, to say nothing of the delicious muffins awaiting us. Sorry not to meet Ed, we hope correct that omission on a future trip!
Ed and Melissa are the ideal Airbnb hosts. They were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The casita itself is immaculately clean and offers privacy and a wonderfully peaceful setting. The location is perfect for exploring northern New Mexico (including Taos Ski Valley) and enjoying the expansive landscape and sky. The accommodations helped make it a great trip and we plan to enthusiastically recommend this location to friends and family!
Ed and Melissa have an amazing place...2 acres just outside Taos with a beautiful farm, fruit trees, with 2 adobe houses and 1 adobe garage all built by Ed...the vegetable garden the work of Melissa (and Ed where necessary!)
if you get a chance to take a walk with Ed and Melissa, you'll get a sense of what its like to live in such a beautiful place...and you'll see a few more adobe structures built by Ed!
The garden is stunning... every morning the light came first, while the sun took its time coming over the mountain behind the house. While we got coffee and breakfast going in the kitchen, we opened the blinds, began to hear birds, then the sun came over the peak and lit up the whole yard. A walk around the garden with the sun warming me up and birds everywhere... stunning views of the desert to the west, and the mountains around Taos behind the house to the east.
We spent long mornings relaxing in the house before heading the 2-mi down the road into town...then on into the desert and everything Taos has to offer...but we really enjoyed picking up dinner at the grocery store and relaxing at the house!
Melissa had fantastic cookies waiting for us when we arrived. A fully functional kitchen. The place was beautifully clean, bright, architecturally true to the region...just the perfect place to enjoy Taos and relax...
W can't wait to come back next spring/summer...thank you Ed and Melissa! So great to meet you!
My husband and I had a wonderful time in the charming and artfully designed casita. It was spacious, comfortable and quiet. It sits in the midst of an organic farm with the mountains and public land rising right behind. It is convenient to the plaza and to trail heads for beautiful walks. There is a lovely gas stove which makes the living room and spacious kitchen warm and cozy. Large windows open the guest up to the beauty all around. Ed and Melissa were friendly and helpful and very interesting to talk with. Can't wait to return.
We had a wonderful stay at Ed & Melissa's casita in Taos. It was a great space all around. We appreciated that the casita was close to town but set back on a quiet street. The night sky was incredible. We saw several shooting stars just standing in the driveway.
We visited Taos in December and the temperatures dipped into the teens, yet the casita was always warm and cozy. The space was beautiful - tile floors throughout and bright white walls covered with an eclectic mix of original art. The bed was about the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on, maybe a Tempurpedic, not sure. We enjoyed the use of the kitchen for several meals.
Melissa has an extensive garden which was covered by a blanket of snow while we were there, but it would be great to see her gardens during the growing season and sample some homegrown produce.
The hosts are just across the yard which came in handy when we needed to borrow a map. They were super helpful with suggestions for things to do and shops that sell work by Taos artists. Otherwise, they gave us plenty of privacy. We got a weekly rate which was very reasonable. For the quality of the space and location, one could easily pay double what they charge. We would highly recommend the casita to anyone who is looking for a cozy spot in Taos.
My wife and I have lived here for 26 years. I am a builder and avid student of architecture, my wife is a master gardener who maintains a CSA farm. We enjoy having guests stay with us. Please see our (website hidden) listing 405290 to see reviews.
