About this listing
Our casita is located in the neighborhood of Taos known as Canon, a charming agrarian community that is in close proximity to downtown Taos. You can spend the day skiing, going to museums, the plaza, the Taos Pueblo, The Rio Grande gorge, white water rafting, gallery hopping and fine dining; then retreat to your hideaway for replenishment.. If tomorrow you desire a more mellow day, walk out the door into the Carson National Forest, set up your easel. or enjoy a few hours in our organic garden.
The casita, situated on two beautiful acres, is a one bedroom (queen size Tempurpedic mattress)/ one bath with a fully provisioned kitchen and lovely living room. It is tastefully appointed with many pieces of art by local artists. The floors in the bedroom are Saltillo tile and the living area has warm wood floors.
Although we list our casita as sleeping 2 people, we probably could accommodate a young child.
You will read only positives here, because my one-month stay here was superb. My welcome never ended. The hosts were gracious and enthusiastic from the start. They were helpful, but never obtrusive. The house is as described, and has even more charm and fun than the pictures can display. The location is close to town, yet worlds away, in a quiet agrarian setting. Light and airy throughout, great kitchen for cooking, wonderful outdoor spaces. Very comfortable throughout, including a great bed. I enjoyed the most delicious home baked muffin I have ever had, compliments of the host, and I was offered any of the organic produce growing on the property. I will return, absolutely.
Ed & Melissa's casita was better than we could have imagined! The cottage is spacious, well-decorated, cozy, and very well maintained. Our hosts were very welcoming and they provided us with recommendations for activities in the area (and cookies!). Overall, I would highly recommend staying here and I hope to go back and visit again!
We just returned from a long weekend in Taos at Ed and Melissa’s, and can’t recommend this place highly enough! The previous positive reviews were what originally attracted us to the place but what sold us was the close location to town, the affordable price (esp for all that you get!), and the small farm atmosphere of the land. Upon arrival, Melissa welcomed us with blueberry muffins and coffee stocking the kitchen, and was warm, gracious and made us feel like welcomed friends. The inside of the home is simply stunning and warmly decorated with the vibe and atmosphere immediately making you feel relaxed. It comes with all the amenities you could want – including all natural cleaning products and soaps, TV & internet (although the birds that great you from the kitchen window feeder are entertainment enough), gas stove, memory foam mattress and pillows, and is extremely clean. In addition, Ed and Melissa included sample itineraries for exploring Taos as well as maps, local restaurant and shop information. We loved exploring the local restaurants and shops, music venues, hot springs, ski mountain and walking around the neighborhood – always looking forward to returning to what felt like home to us. We will definitely be back (especially to see the farm in full bloom) and will recommend this to all our friends and family visiting Taos.
Thanks again Ed and Michelle- made us feel super comfortable and your place is great !! especially grateful for guiding us in after driving 15 hours in epic snowstorm!!
This was exactly what we were looking for. It was close to town but still felt secluded. The casita had everything we needed to have a great vacation. It's a short drive to great skiing. Ed and Melissa were great hosts. They ensured we had everything we needed, including amazing homemade cookies. We would recommend the casita to anyone hoping for a fun, relaxing vacation.
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We very much enjoyed the comfortable, spacious casita, our gracious, and interesting hostess, Melissa, to say nothing of the delicious muffins awaiting us. Sorry not to meet Ed, we hope correct that omission on a future trip!
