About this listing
Master bedroom with private bathroom in newer duplex unit you share with me (including kitchen, laundry, and outdoor patio table). I'm across from park, one block from bus, 5 blocks to light rail. Between two parks, the one across the street has tennis courts. Friendly neighborhood, 10-15 minutes to downtown.
Living room part of the shared "great room." Comfortable place to have coffee, watch tv, or listen to music before bed.
Private room in friendly Arbor Lodge neighborhood across from Arbor Lodge Park. Light, quiet, clean. Private room has full bath with tub/shower, queen bed, and wifi internet access. My 7 yr-old duplex includes shared space (with me) of kitchen, laundry, and half bath on main. I'm on a corner between two parks, 1 block to bus, 6 blocks to light rail and New Seasons whole foods store and neighborhood "hangout." I'm also on a "bike boulevard" with ez access to downtown by bike, rail, bus or car. I-5, University of Portland, and Vancouver, WA also within two miles. Two "secret" indoor-outdoor cats live here too, but you probably won't see them, and they don't use a litter box, so you won't smell them either!
This is a great venue for creative types who want peace and tranquility for regrouping in between activities while visiting Portland. Have coffee in my wonderful main floor "great room" with lots of morning light and a park view...or sleep late in your private upstairs room (guests have commented on how quiet it is). I can also recommend nearby restaurants for breakfast/lunch/dinner, and can provide transportation from the airport, which is only ten minutes away. Share my idyllic setting which I enjoy in this unique neighborhood...the perfect combination of "hip" and "home!"
PLEASE CHECK CALENDAR on this listing, AND
also for my other listing at www.airbnb.com/rooms/695704. Since I rent the room, but also the "whole house", the calendar can be inaccurate if you only check one calendar. I don't want to make a mistake!!

Interaction with Guests
I'm not too available, but always can answer questions by phone while you're here. I will make sure you're comfortable upon arrival, and maybe we'll share coffee in the morning (I will provide coffee, bagels, and instant oatmeal, fruit).
We can decide when you arrive, what kinds of interaction will best suit us, based on our schedules, etc. You might just want a place to "land" after long days out, or if I'm free, maybe we can converse about Portland and our "world travels."
Big shared kitchen, if you wish to use it! Host provides coffee and bagels, as the morning sun fills the whole main floor (if no sun, then light...for sure, light...hey, it IS Portland)!
Sandi was the perfect host. She met me at the arranged time, greeted me warmly and welcomed me to her home. She described the house rules, asked me about my plans and asked how she could help me. Her description of the room was accurate. The room itself was well appointed. Sandi's attention to detail is amazing. It was warm, inviting, charmingly decorated. And spotlessly clean. The bathroom was new, clean, well stocked. All aspects of my stay were perfect.
Sandi was very welcoming, kind, and ready to help me feel at home! Excellent coffee and light breakfast in the morning! The room was spacious, clean, with a great private bathroom. The room gets light in the morning, terrific if you're an early riser! The location is terrific too: next to a park, easy to get to the airport, quiet and nice.
My son rented this room from Sandi for 10 weeks during a summer internship. Sandi offered a nice home for him with a private bedroom and bathroom and access to the living areas and kitchen.
She also provided excellent company in the evenings, sharing meals and playing scrabble with him, and helped him navigate, experience and appreciate all that Portland has to offer. We were happy that he chose Sandi's place for the summer of 2015. Nancy
Sandi is the best host ever, and her house is not only very clean and welcoming, but stylish and quite as well. It is all I needed. Thank you Sandi, I hope to come back soon.
I can't imagine a better Airbnb experience than my recent stay with Sandi at "Between 'hip and home' (& park!)." Sandi is a wonderful, caring host and I quickly felt welcome and comfortable in her home. Clean and full of light, her home is located in a pretty, quiet and safe neighborhood, across the street from a lovely community park. It's near public transportation and only a short drive into the city center. Parking is readily available on her street. I was happy with my pretty, comfortable bedroom and private bathroom. I especially enjoyed talking with Sandi each morning over coffee and a light healthy breakfast, in her outdoor patio area near the park. She has lived in Portland for many years and is a great resource for visitors. I look forward to seeing Sandi and staying with her again on future trips to Portland.
It's alway a pleasure to stay at Sandi's place. It's like my home away from home ;-) Love the the location and the amenities and enjoy Sandi!
Sandi was a wonderful host and her house is lovely! She was so thoughtful and caring! Thank you!!

About the Host, Sandi
Hi, I'm excited about being an AirBNB host! I like providing a comfortable respite from the road, and I definitely enjoy meeting people from all over. I live across from a beautiful neighborhood park that has tennis courts just steps away, and provides a serene setting, yet is close to all the great activities in neighborhoods downtown, in Mississippi, Alberta Arts, and Piedmont, to name a few. The house is half of a duplex. It is a 1500sf unit with 3 bedrms, 2.5 baths, hardwood floors in the "great room" which is one big room including fully loaded kitchen, living room, and dining room. People love the openness of the main floor. French doors to small front yard provide an open, friendly area for morning coffee or regrouping over wine in the evening. Other amenities include laundry room, full service refrigerator, and ample street parking. Conveniently located just a half block to bus, 6 blocks to light rail, I-5, and New Seasons whole foods store, 10 minutes to downtown (unless you want to take the bike trail, which makes it more like 20 minutes).
I am a writer and singer, and I have a lot in common with artistic types, but love to get to know all types of people. I'm definitely open and somewhat savvy about the world, though haven't traveled much (that's about to change, thanks to AirBNB!). Come enjoy a weekend, a week, or a month in the hidden Arbor Lodge neighborhood. I live here because it's close to everything, and yet feels like I'm in the country. A second park is only a block away, and the University of Portland and Adidas campus are just a few blocks away, along the bluffs overlooking downtown . I can help you get to know our completely amazing jewel of a city! My life mission is to "make a difference." This is my hosting style too. Welcome.
