About this listing
Master bedroom with private bathroom in newer duplex unit you share with me (including kitchen, laundry, and outdoor patio table). I'm across from park, one block from bus, 5 blocks to light rail. Between two parks, the one across the street has tennis courts. Friendly neighborhood, 10-15 minutes to downtown.
Private room in friendly Arbor Lodge neighborhood across from Arbor Lodge Park. Light, quiet, clean. Private room has full bath with tub/shower, queen bed, and wifi internet access. My 8 yr-old duplex includes shared space (with me) of kitchen, laundry, and half bath on main. I'm on a corner between two parks, 1 block to bus, 6 blocks to light rail and New Seasons whole foods store and neighborhood "hangout." I'm also on a "bike boulevard" with ez access to downtown by bike, rail, bus or car. I-5, University of Portland, and Vancouver, WA also within two miles. Two "secret" indoor-outdoor cats live here too, but you probably won't see them, and they don't use a litter box, so you won't smell them either!
This is a great venue for creative types who want peace and tranquility for regrouping in between activities while visiting Portland. Have coffee in my wonderful main floor "great room" with lots of morning light and a park view...or sleep late in your private upstairs room (guests have commented on how quiet it is). I can also recommend nearby restaurants for breakfast/lunch/dinner, and can provide transportation from the airport, which is only ten minutes away. Share my idyllic setting which I enjoy in this unique neighborhood...the perfect combination of "hip" and "home!"

Interaction with Guests
I'm not too available, but always can answer questions by phone while you're here. I will make sure you're comfortable upon arrival, and maybe we'll share coffee in the morning (I will provide coffee, bagels, and instant oatmeal, fruit).
Other Things to Note
I prefer cool temperature. It would be hard to share the house with someone who wants heat on when it's 65 degrees, for instance. I don't think I've ever turned the heat to 80 degrees. I use energy sparingly, so when it's hot, I shut blinds on the east side in the morning, and open windows for ventilation in the cool evenings.
We can decide when you arrive, what kinds of interaction will best suit us, based on our schedules, etc. You might just want a place to "land" after long days out, or if I'm free, maybe we can converse about Portland and our "world travels."
Big shared kitchen, if you wish to use it! Host provides coffee and bagels, as the morning sun fills the whole main floor (if no sun, then light...for sure, light...hey, it IS Portland)!
