About This Listing
Our cosy double room, great WIFI, friendly pets, and a family atmosphere in a leafy residential part of west London. Good connections to Central London (about an hour). Deli, bakery and nice pubs nearby.
Cosy double in small, typical London Victorian house. The bedroom is small but comfortable with a double bed and a desk - simple and eclectic rather than super smart. You may have the bathroom to yourself or share with one other guest room* (Deep bathtub and hand shower).
We are a household of working adults, a cat, and a young dog on a steep learning curve. (Pets kept out of the bedrooms as a rule).
There is good wi fi and a great library of books and films; feel free to play the piano/guitar/ukulele or sit in the leafy garden; go for a walk or run along the canal at the bottom of the street, or for a pint in on of our local pubs.
It is a quiet street to come back to after a day's sightseeing or work in town. There are good transport links - Heathrow is 40 mins or less, and its an hour to most central London places. The night bus stops a 10 minute walk away. On street parking is free. Just up the road we have a great deli kitchen, fish and chips, fabulous kebabs, and a bakery. The gym (Golds) is also close by. Kew gardens and the river at Richmond is a 20 minute cycle ride away. (We can lend you a bike).
The closest tube is Boston Manor (Piccadilly Line) and closest rail station is Hanwell (towards Paddington). It is also easy to get to Ealing Broadway tube/rail or Brentford Station (towards Waterloo). We are in zone 4.
We are friendly without being intrusive and we want our guests to feel relaxed in a home from home. Don't expect a bland hotel style atmosphere. We will happily recommend things to do and lend you an A-Z, or just leave you to do your own thing. Check out the guide book for local information.
* sometimes our sons or daughter also use the bathroom if they are home. Let us know if it is very important to you to have exclusive use of the bathroom!
Guests are welcome to use the sitting room and kitchen for sitting and drinking tea/coffee.
Interaction with Guests
We love to chat to guests when we can. Sometimes our work schedules or our guest schedules don't allow it!
The canalside park and fields make a pleasant place to go for a walk or run. Like most of London, Its pretty multicultural, and our neighbourhood is quite family orientated.
We have plenty of walking distance cafes and pubs and some have gardens for the summer.
We are in zone 4, 5 minutes to the bus stop, and 20 minutes from the central line tube (Ealing Broadway), the piccadilly line tube (Boston Manor), and train lines into Paddington ( from Hanwell station) or Victoria/Waterloo main line stations (from Brentford station).
We have buses that go straight into central London if you prefer, including a night bus (N207) to get you home if you have missed the last tube!
We also have a direct bus to Wembley Stadium that takes 1 hour.
Getting to Warner Studios takes about
On street parking is free but can be a bit crowded. We are fairly close to the A4 and M40 if you are driving here.
From Heathrow - Piccadilly line tube to Boston Manor or Heathrow Connect service to Hanwell station.
From Gatwick: train to Brentford changing at Clapham Junction, depending on time of day. You can also get the train to Victoria station and the the tube.
Stansted, Luton and London City airports are all on the other side of London, so you need to leave plenty of time (2 hrs at least) if you are travelling from/to them.
We recommend the terravision or easy bus service to get to and from Stansted.
Please check your travel plans carefully if you have an early flight from Luton or Stansted.
We can book a local taxi to take you to any airport or collect you if you let us know your flight number.
Other Things to Note
This is our family home! We live here full time.
We've shared some info, and we feel things work best if guests do the same. Please put some info in your profile, and a photo is even better! If you prefer you can send info about yourself in a message. Verifications also help.
No smoking indoors, but you can take shelter in the shed.
Please respect the usual terms about using the internet and do not download anything illegal.
Pete and Sam work full time during the day, Ju works a range of different hours. We ask that guests respect the range of sleeping patterns!
If you are here for more than a week I will change your bedding if you request it. Towels are also available on request.
You can use the microwave and make hot drinks, but the bnb price does not include full use of the kitchen and washing machine. There is a laundrette close by.
For longer term guests, use of the kitchen and some space for food storage may be possible in exchange for providing your own breakfast, depending on the circumstances - Let's discuss if this is something you need.
Sam's place is really nice! Everyone was so kind and helpful. I will stay there when I will come back to London!
It is soo close to all kind of public transport (wherever you wanna go in London), close to London Heathrow and the best is the cute dog and the cat.
Staying at Sam's place - even only for two nights - had been a great pleasure. She and her family had been lovely hosts for our short stay.
I had a really comfortable, relaxing time at Sam's. She made me feel extremely welcome, and was happy to explain how to get around the local area.
Sam and Pete are the kindest people I've ever met! I felt very relaxed and welcomed in their lovely home. The room was great and I slept very well in the bed. I'm very pleased with my stay and I would love to come back!
We had a lovely time at Sam's and really relaxed at their beautiful home.
Very welcoming and engaging hosts. Intelligent, hospitable, thoughtful and a little bit alternative - typical London middle class couple. Like staying with friends, always happy to sit and chat and put the world to rights or to respect your privacy. Comfortable family home with a cat and dog and not so squeaky clean that you feel awkward. Trendy part of suburban West London becoming increasingly fashionable. Short walk to overground station with fast trains to Paddington, or 5 minute ride on frequent buses to Piccadilly tube line. Nice pubs, cafés and restaurants nearby. An authentic London experience.

About the Host, Sam
Pete and I are both from London but have lived in other places now and again. We have a boat and love to sail. Films and books are our other pastimes. Pete is into technology and Sam needs fresh air and to be outdoors almost everyday (when she is not teaching). For lovers of cities and confirmed city dwellers we spend a lot of time on the sea or walking coastal paths when we can. Daisy works in theatre/film and is passionate about costume; (recently back from a year in Vancouver), Dashiell is sometimes around during the weekends when he isn't working on computer projects, and Oskar used to make coffee for weary travellers at Heathrow and is now studying in Bristol.
As guests we like to go out and see new places - the backstreets as much as the main sights. Pete is looking forward to seeing South America one day and Sam is hoping to visit San Francisco, but there is still plenty for us to see and do here in the UK.
**Over the next few months Pete is sailing around Great Britain. During August, Sam will be sailing too. Oskar (an experienced airBnB host) will be looking after our guests.**
