I am happy to answer any general or specific questions for information related to your specific accommodation needs. Please make these clear when making your initial enquiry and prior to confirming a reservation
To assist new users I have included the following important information.
It's helpful to have a completed profile with AirBnb. This is because many hosts won't approve reservation requests without some level of AirBnb verified ID. A verified ID, will help you to get a quicker response to your reservation request to Wombat’s and other AirBnb accommodation.
Once confirmed with me, your booking remains secure.
Please note, during pre-approval, accommodation remains available to other enquirers. Your accommodation is secured when a reservation request is completed by both parties.
At present bookings for periods of 28+ days cannot be done using the Airbnb app; you will need a computer or similar device.
The accommodation in this listing is "Wombat's Studio".
Attached to the main building, but with its own entrance; there are four steps to the separate verandah which provides access to "Wombat's Studio" studio.
Transport links are good; Glenbrook is one of the first stops in the Blue Mountains via the M4, or the Mt Victoria rail-line from Sydney. Using either car or train, it's an hour from Sydney.
Your accommodation is 2 minutes’ walk from Glenbrook Railway Station.
If "Wombat's Studio" is unavailable, sometimes the guest room within the main house is available. :ie. "Wombats Village"
Additionally, "Wildwood" is a seasonal listing which is occasionally available during high demand, it is in the property next door with my neighbour. At the present time "Wildwood" remains unavailable unless required for overflow guests.
Interaction with Guests
I am an AirBnb host who lives in the adjacent accommodation onsite, so I am easy to contact if you need me or have any travel questions or queries about facilities in the accommodation.
The contact I have with guests is very dependent on my guests; it's your vacation/visit... after reception and room guidance, your privacy and enjoyment is important to me.
Set in the Lower Blue Mountains, it's actually a gem of a place, centrally located for so many different experiences and features of this area, its natural beauty and peaceful aspect are pleasing, at the same time, our little Village Cafe precinct is 150 metres from your room. The only thing standing in your way is the trees you can see from your verandah.
At the village we have the Tourist Information Centre, Tennis Court, Glenbrook Cinema, Glenbrook Panthers Bowling Club, Cafes galore, retro and gift shops, Glenbrook Swim Centre, Churches, Schools, Town Parks & Blue Mts National Park. Costs associated with any of these facilities are very modest.
You will be staying walking distance from Glenbrook's entrance to the Blue Mountains National Park, and yes, you can see kangaroos in the wild practically on cue. Visit "Red Hands Cave" or you can swim in our beautiful creeks choosing "The Blue Pool" or "Jelly Bean" swimming holes, or take a more urban stroll around "Glenbrook Lagoon", find a hilltop and check the views east to Sydney and west across the expansive Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park.
10 minutes’ drive and you can visit the Sydney International Regatta Centre, or canoe, kayak, ski or cruise on the Nepean River enjoying the paddle steamers -The Nepean Belle or Platypus. The launch ramp for all these activities is at Tench Reserve.
You can also walk or cycle, bridge-to-bridge on a loop circuit across the river. Spend a few hours or a whole day enjoying this part of the Nepean. Stop in at the Coffee Club overlooking the boat ramp, or the Lewer's Gallery Cafe on River Road, Emu Plains. It features regional produce on the menu and a beautiful garden. Both venues are first class experiences if you love your food and views and want to feel pampered and welcome.
There is so much to see and enjoy with Wildwood in the Lower Blue Mts as your home base. A long time local girl, I can give you advice on most things related to this area, accommodating extra guests, small groups, or continuing your holiday in other parts of Australia. Just ask; you're most welcome.
Just off the M4 entering into the Mountains, its an easy location for Sydneysiders wanting a weekend away with an easy trip back home. Lots of my guests have a great holiday using public transport. Borrow the bicycles if you wish....take them on the train... ride along the river...
For overseas guests, hire cars can be picked up from the airport, or Sydney City locations as well as nearby Penrith, which you can travel to via trains from Central. I occasionally ask my guests about their choice of hire car so I can share current information with future travellers.
Other Things to Note
Kitchenette facilities are suited to organise prepared and semi prepared food items, and light meals. There is no cook-top provided, the premises are not licensed to have a full kitchen.
However, in the garden, there is a small wood fired barbecue, and an outdoor fireplace for guests to enjoy. There are ample food outlets nearby that provide cooked meals at prices to suit all budgets.
Please advise me if you have special needs regarding health or accessibility so that you can assess the suitability of Wombat's prior to making a reservation.
If you are requesting your pet accompany you as a guest; please discuss their needs prior to making a reservation. If an agreement is made that your pet can be suitably accommodated at Wombat's, you will be expected to include them in guest numbers.
The room can accommodate 2 couples, using the main bed and the sofa bed, or up to 5 if a family with children wish to improvise with the sofa-bed and lounge etc.
A flexible reservation policy applies to bookings at Wombat's; please read the terms and conditions which apply to "flexible" bookings, prior to making bookings/cancellations..
We live in a residential area and as long as we keep the property secure, don't disturb the neighbours and act lawfully, then any concerns about what's acceptable can be sorted in person
No smoking indoors at all; however outdoors is acceptable, as long as you use/request an ashtray.
We had a wonderfully relaxing time at Wombats! The studio is lovely, gorgeous hardwood floors, luxurious bed and linens, and lots of delicious treats and unexpected extras!
A very tranquil location in a charming, friendly and peaceful town. Close to stunning nature and hikes. Tons of outdoor activities to be had.
On arrival to Wombats, Christine had previously advised us that she would be overseas. Everything was left in excellent working order with her neighbours supplying the studio with fresh linen ready for our stay and handing us the keys. They were even happy to offer us a cold drink and local advice while we waited for the keys. Christine arrived back on site while we were out enjoying a meal in the local pub - we were greeted back by our host who was happy to show us all the facilities wombats has to offer. The cupboards were fully stocked with teas, breakfast goods, entertainment such as games and books and toiletries. Everything was supplied for a comfortable stay, and we would have loved to stay for longer than one night. Would highly recommend Christine as a host for anyone looking for a comfortable base for a mountains getaway. Thank you Christine!!
Christine is a very welcoming and caring host. Her place was very well provided and match the description.
We loved our stay at Wombat's! Christine was kind, attentive and helpful during our time there. The place was very clean and modern with lots of attention to detail. Our kids played happily in the garden and the location is nice for walks around the village. We would definitely recommend staying here!
Was a lovely setting, clean and comfortable. Conveniently close to shops and train station. The air conditioning was very much appreciated on hot day!
We 4 girls had stayed in Christine’s house for 2 nights. Christine was so friendly and kind to us in these two days. We had some troubles in moving to Sydney, and arrived very late in the first day. She still gave us a warm hug, making us feel like being home. Her house was very lovely, clean and comfortable. We all had great time there, and really appreciated her kindness and hospitality.
