The little house was rather nice, with a nice kitchen with modern appliances (and grill in the back).
In our days there, we didn't see anything at all of our hosts (who live on the other house on the property), though Lucy had left us a little "welcome" package, which included some chocolates and two kinds of (flavored) coffee on the living room coffee table.
We found the house unlocked when we arrived, and nobody ever gave us keys. Maybe it's just the New York in us, but that was a bit odd. Nothing went missing, though!
That said, if you'd like keys for that piece of mind, it seems like you'll need to ask for them.
I'm not sure about the "close to the ocean" part of the description, however. Being on an island the size of Kaua'i, one is never truly "far" from the ocean, but you'll certainly not find yourself within any reasonable walking distance of any beach. The drive to get to one, however, isn't long at all.
We only used two of the rental house's three bedrooms (I know the description says "2 BR", but we found three rooms with beds), each of which have ceiling fans.
My friends stayed in the master bedroom, which features an en suite bathroom, and is the only room in the house that also has an air conditioner. They used it every night.
I stayed in the corner bedroom, which had large windows on two walls, so I was able to open them and get a brilliant, cooling breeze when I turned in. I found getting this breeze (and turning the ceiling fan on) was key to my slumbering comfort.
I can't, however, speak to the experience of sleeping in the third bedroom, as it had only a single window.
Wifi is available, though the connection got dodgy at times. I suspect the house simply has a satellite-based connection, which are known to provide spotty service now and then. I noticed it one night because I was trying to stream a video when I was turning in. That said, if Internet connectivity is any sort of priority for you, Kaua'i might not be your best fit ;)
The washer and dryer were in excellent shape, too, and helped us keep our clothes fresh and clean after our day-long excursions.
All said, the experience was enjoyable and the house proved a comfortable headquarters for our stay in Kapa'a. My friends and I can recommend staying here.
