We had a lovely stay; arrived in the middle of the day so Maria met us and let us in. The flat was spotlessly clean and in a fabulous location - right across from the golden sandy beach. We had the upstairs apartment (there are 2 in the house) and a great view of the sea. I only wish the weather had been just a bit warmer; because we were early in the season it was cool and not many of the local tavernas were open - would love to return and stay again.
Our host was wonderful! He provided us with a complementary bottle of wine and stayed late on our first night. The neighborhood is great because it's not too touristy but there are beautiful little beach front bars all around. The accommodations were great and the rooms were very comfortable! Plus fast wifi. Overall we had a fantastic time!
Location of Villa Maria was very good choice for a calm family holiday. Location at sea front was super! Spiros was a very helpful and friendly host. We appreciated that he was there to welcome us when we arrived at 3 o'clock in the night.
The apartment is very clean, nice beds and air condition works properly. Very good choice for a family with three children.
If you choose to stay here, check the pool at Bostonia hotel (free) and fisherman's spagetti at Taverna George! Enjoy 30 meters distance to the beach and the extraordinarily beautiful sunset view from the balcony of this upstairs apartment.
Only reason to not give five stars is that the shower in the bathroom did not have walls (July2014) - taking a shower without wetting up the entire bathroom was extra tidious. That said, this is really a price-worth accommodation.
My wife and 2-kids (10&12) just loved Maria's House. It really made our Corfu experience special. The house is clean and conveniently located to the town. You really get a non-tourist experience going to Akaravi, still have an option to go to Kassiopi to get that is your thing. Maria's house is right across from the sea and, when we were there, was more or less empty, giving our kids a great chance to explore on their own and show their independence. We would definitely stay at Maria's house again. Spiros is a wonderful host and boasts the fastest wifi on the island :-)
We had a wonderful stay at Maria's house-our only complaint was that the time went too fast, especially as one whole day of our seven was spent travelling to our destination. The setting was wonderful and the views from the upstairs apartment are magnificent. There is a large lawned area around the property and some Sun loungers in the garden that are good to relax on..The beach is the other side of the small service road that runs along the bottom of the garden. It is a very long beach of sand and shingle-properly 7 km or more in length.
Spiros arranged for us to be collected from the airport and returned there which was very helpful. We had to hire a car for five days as the local supermarket was shut.We did a good deal with West Corfu cars
We were there at the last week of the season yet the sea was still warm enough to swim and we had gorgeous weather. It was cold at night however.
the main downside was the mosquitoes. They breed on the nearby lake and seemed to be around even in the day time in the slightest patch of shade-normally they aren't much attracted to me but here I was covered in bites. Fortunately, they didn't hurt-just look somewhat unsightly.
