About this listing
The flat is on a quiet residential street with Victorian houses. It has a pretty park at either end of the road. It is homely and spacious, spread over two floors. I have a cat called Bear.
The room is at the back of the house, so is peaceful. It is spacious and has hanging space and a chest of drawers. You have access to WIFI and can have full use of the living room and kitchen. The bathroom is shared. You have use of a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. You will be provided with fresh linen and towels. A basic breakfast of cereals, tea, coffee and toast is included in the price. There is parking on the street however it does require a permit which I can provide you at a small extra charge of £3 per day. Alternatively there is free parking a few minutes walk away.
Camberwell is a fabulous, buzzy location in Zone 2. A 7 minute walk will take you to Denmark Hill station where you can get trains to Blackfriars, London Bridge and Victoria in 10 minutes. The East London Line has quick routes to Shoreditch and Islington. Oval underground station is a 20 minute walk away and more locally there are countless buses taking you to pretty much anywhere! If you're a keen cyclist like me, Borough Market, Waterloo and the South Bank are a 15 minute pedal away. There are some excellent restaurants and pubs all within a 5 minute walk. These include a gastropubs The Camberwell Arms and the Crooked Well, an amazing tapas restaurant; Angels and Gipsys, which scores 5 stars in Timeout. There is also a delicious Chinese restaurant, Silk Road and FM Mangal for mouth watering kebabs, praised by Guardian food critic Jay Rayner. The South London gallery is just round the corner and has a scrumptious brunch menu and different exhibitions. Peckham is walking distance with countless eateries and cool places to drink. The Maudlsey hospital, Institute of Psychiatry and Kings hospital are all within 5 minutes walk.
Please check sublet information as at times I will be renting the entire flat out. The second bedroom is enormous and I have a spare mattress so would comfortably sleep 6 people.
Other Things to Note
You will be given keys to come and go freely. I would expect the norms in terms of consideration for keeping the noise down if coming in after 11pm. Taking your shoes off is helpful as it keeps the place clean and the noise down as the floors are wooden. Breakfast is provided but it is by and large on a help-yourself basis and wash-up yourself basis. Likewise if you prepare other food please wash up after you. The heating is not on a timer but I will show you how to switch it on, however if I go out before you, it is your responsibility to switch it off. It is best that you keep your bedroom door shut at all times unless you want the cat in your room. Most importantly I would like you to enjoy your stay and if you need anything, please ask :-)
I've just had a wonderful stay at Sophie's. The flat is gorgeous and the room is really lovely with a very comfy bed so you'll get a good night's sleep. Sophie is great - communicative, friendly and welcoming. Location is great too - it's a lovely area and a short 5 minute walk gets you to Denmark Hill station where frequent trains take you to Victoria in just 9 minutes. Highly recommend!
Everything was just as we expected, communication was excellent. We willd efinitely stay again if we,return to London
We stayed at Sophie's place for a few days and we loved it! Buses nearby, spacious kitchen and living room. .The room was very cosy, the bed really comfortable. I usually have trouble sleeping at new places - at Sophie's I slept like a baby - now wondering whether the bed was so comfy or english weather made me sleepy :) Nevertheless, we felt very welcome.
Merci Sophie !
We felt at home at Sophie's place. The flat is clean and has a safe neighbourhood. Sophie is very friendly and considerate. She asked what we would like to eat for breakfast by text, even though we had little chance to meet (because we are visitors who stayed long time outside the flat). We had high quality sleep during night. Her cat, Bear, is lovely as well.
