About This Listing

The flat is on a quiet residential street with victorian houses. It has a pretty park at either end of the road. It is homely and spacious, spread over two floors. I have a cat called Bear.
The room is at the back of the house, so is peaceful and has a lovely view of the garden. It is spacious and has hanging space and a chest of drawers. You have access to WIFI and can have full use of the living room and kitchen. The bathroom is shared. You have use of a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. You will be provided with fresh linen and towels. A basic breakfast of cereals, tea, coffee and toast is included in the price. There is parking on the street however it does require a permit which I can provide you at a small extra charge of £3 per day. Alternatively there is free parking a few minutes walk away.
Camberwell is a fabulous, buzzy location in Zone 2. A 7 minute walk will take you to Denmark Hill station where you can get trains to Blackfriars, London Bridge and Victoria in 10 minutes. The East London Line has quick routes to Shoreditch and Islington. Oval underground station is a 20 minute walk away and more locally there are countless buses taking you to pretty much anywhere! If you're a keen cyclist like me, Borough Market, Waterloo and the South Bank are a 15 minute pedal away. There are some excellent restaurants and pubs all within a 5 minute walk. These include a gastropubs The Camberwell Arms and the Crooked Well, an amazing tapas restaurant, Angels and Gipsys, which scores 5 stars in Timeout. There is also a delicious Chinese restaurant, Silk Road and FM Mangal for mouth watering kebabs, praised by Guardian food critic Jay Rayner. The South London gallery is just round the corner and has a scrumptious brunch menu and different exhibitions. Peckham is walking distance with countless eateries and cool places to drink. The Maudlsey hospital, Institute of Psychiatry and Kings hospital are all within 5 minutes walk.
Please check sublet information as at times I will be renting the entire flat out. The second bedroom is enormous and I have a spare mattress so would comfortably sleep 6 people.
Other Things to Note
You will be given keys to come and go freely. I would expect the norms in terms of consideration for keeping the noise down if coming in after 11pm. Taking your shoes off is helpful as it keeps the place clean and the noise down as the floors are wooden. Breakfast is provided but it is by and large on a help-yourself basis and wash-up yourself basis. Likewise if you prepare other food please wash up after you. The heating is not on a timer but I will show you how to switch it on, however if I go out before you, it is your responsibility to switch it off. It is best that you keep your bedroom door shut at all times unless you want the cat in your room. Most importantly I would like you to enjoy your stay and if you need anything, please ask :-)
I had a great time staying at Sophie's place. Her flat is spacious and clean and located in a nice area. Also, Sophie and her lovely cat Bear were great company and they made me feel at home instantly. I'd return anytime!
Sophie had the best place ever for staying in London and not getting overwhelmed by the rush of the city! First off, it is a wonderful home about 30 min. by BUS from Trafalgar Square, and the first thing Sophie did was fix us some water and talk to us about places to go. We had some excellent kebabs at her recommendation! She even had croissants for us in the morning. She couldn't have been more pleasant to talk with and stay with.
Also, the bed is AMAZING! And her cat is very sweet. I had excellent showers, and her kitchen was like the kitchen of an old friend! I have to say, I was apprehensive of the hubbub of London, and she made it wonderful for my boyfriend and I. Highly recommended. You won't forget her!
Had another great stay at Sophie's place - slept very well and really appreciated breakfast being left out. Room is fab value for money
We had an excellent time staying at Sophie's place! We were able to check in at a convenient time even though Sophie wasn't around, which was very welcome after a long flight. It was easy to get around the city from the place, and the local neighbourhood is very nice too, with some great cafes and restaurants. We checked out a couple of the places in Sophie's guidebook and were not disappointed. Sophie was lovely, very respectful of our space, and we felt very welcome and comfortable in the house. Bear the cat is also very friendly! Many thanks for a wonderful time in London
I stayed at Sophie's for a five-day week. It turned out to be the perfect place to stay to visit London. Convenient public transport, nice and bustling neighbourhood with quiet streets, idyllic parks as well as lively roads with pubs and cheap, cosy and good restaurants. The room was just what I needed, being away for most of the day, and Sophie is a very friendly, funny and helpful host. She showed me around the Camberwell neighbourhood, made sure there was my breakfast of choice, and I was even welcome to join an impromptu dinner party. The atmosphere of her apartment is very enjoyable, with lots of light in kitchen and bathroom, well decorated and Bear the cat makes you feel right at home.
Sophie is warm and welcoming, and she has a lovely, clean, spacious home. I very much enjoyed my stay. Bear the cat is awesome too!
