About this listing
Funky large studio apt. w/ 2 oceanview decks built right on the cliff overlooking the ocean. There is an outdoor bathroom and everything you need to be comfortable and have fun in your home away from home. Convenient!
Romantic, secluded, peaceful, private and off the beaten path, but still less than 15 minutes from everything you will need! Come relax, rest and renew your body, mind and spirit in this charming, funky yet luxurious cottage that is tucked into the trees on a hillside 100 feet above the ocean's edge. The “Treehouse” has a large outdoor bathroom and magical shower with complete views of the ocean over swaying palms. Once you’ve melted into one of the hammock chairs you’ll debate whether it’s worth getting up to go to the beach at all (even though you can walk 5 minutes down our private road, scramble down the hillside and end up on your own completely private and secluded white sand beach!)
There are two decks facing the ocean, gathering the gentle breezes for relaxing in the hammock chairs or enjoying your meals as you watch the pelicans glide by with nothing but ocean as a backdrop.
The Treehouse has high-speed internet access, a full kitchen, refrigerator with an ice maker, stove & oven, microwave, an incredibly comfortable queen size bed with down pillows, and super soft sheets. There is also a Mitchell Gold sofa that opens to become a very comfortable queen size bed, a 47” flat screen TV with Dish Network, a music system and an island charm that makes you feel like you belong here. And it’s private!!!! The front deck has two hammock chairs facing the ocean of course, and the side deck comes with a BBQ, table and chairs and colorful steps that lead to the irresistible indoor/outdoor shower.
We supply the beach chairs, beach towels, ice chest and beach bags...
We’ve got the love, the breeze and the view...
All we are missing is you! .
The Tree House on the Water is located down a private drive on the northeast side of St. Thomas, adjacent to our villa, Spirit on the Water. You have your own hideaway tucked in the trees but with full views of ocean, ocean and more ocean. Really dreamy. Really special. Really welcoming.
Now to answer some FAQ's for those of you who are interested:
* We recommend that you rent a car, and with the island roads, Jeeps are the best vehicles by far. We have a relationship with a local, licensed, and privately owned business that has a fleet of new Jeeps with prices well below the national rental car companies if you're interested let us know. They offer a personalized and friendly service that includes meeting you at the airport with your car, having the paperwork ready, and getting you on the road in minutes. They also will meet you back at the airport on your departure, for curbside drop off.
* We are located about 20 minutes from the airport and will email you detailed driving directions and a map once you've reserved.
* Yes, it's private! The 'Treehouse' (which isn't actually built in a tree but around the trees) is located at the beginning of our private drive so the only time you see people is when we are coming and going.
* We have put together a book with detailed descriptions and directions to our favorite restaurants, beaches etc. You get the benefit of our 12 years of experience on the island as a bonus!
* You can reach the famous Magen's Bay Beach in10 minutes. The town of Red Hook is about 12 minutes away where there is a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars (including the infamous Duffy's Love Shack) and the Ferry Terminal for St. John and the British Virgin Islands.
* All of our water is collected rainwater that goes through a very sophisticated filtering system and ultraviolet treatment before use.
* We also have a concierge service, for an additional fee, that offers everything from a private driver during your stay to a fridge fill before your arrival and everything in between.
* Most importantly there's a lot of joy and laughter in the air around the whole property!
*And there are some great trails and private beaches you can hike down to!
Guest will have access to the Treehouse and your private decks. The dogs will come and go unless you don't want them to, there's a gate you can close. You can come visit us at our villa nearby called Spirit on the Water!
We love to be there for our guests in case they need any advice or recommendations - but we also like to respect their privacy. There if you need us, invisible if you don't. And oh.. we do like to have fun and sometimes life unfolds in a way that we end up having fun together!
We live in a place called Estate Harmony. You enter off the main road called Skyline Drive and the road twist and turns with a few houses scattered on the hillsides here and there, after a couple of turns and about a half a mile, you dead end at our property. It's very private, very safe and very fun. (We can play our music as loud as we want!)
Although we have had guest manage it with Taxi's - we always recommend guest get themselves a rental car to get around. And a jeep if at all possible. The roads are sometimes unpredictable with pot holes etc, depending on how much rain we have had. We do drive on the left side of the road here but it's MUCH MUCH EASIER than you might think so don't let that freak you out!
We want you to have the best vacation you have ever had in your entire life and to create memories that last you a life time!
We expect you to have a blast. Period.
Maps to and from all the popular island destinations are available and since we are so close to many of them you'll want to go and explore. Red Hook, Megan's Bay (voted one of the top ten beaches in the world by Conde Naste') or our famous Mahogany Run Golf Course are just minutes away! Let us know in advance if you have any special request and we can try to accommodate you.
Staying here was an amazing, relaxing experience. The view of water and distant islands is just breathtaking to wake up to. I stayed at June and Ed's treehouse to get some studying done and absolutely loved it. It was well equipped with every kitchen necessity to cook inside or on the grill. The outdoor shower and bathroom was a delight to use with its unique view of the ocean as well! The wireless internet worked great and the a/c was very helpful. I didn't get a chance to meet June as she was away but Ed was very kind and helpful with any questions about the island. Chloe was also helpful during my stay and showed me a piece of the island on one of my break days! There are four cats and four dogs; all of which are very friendly rescue animals and became protective of me by the second day! I would absolutely come here again and I'm sure I will. Thanks for a lovely stay!
June and Ed were terrific hosts with a very special property and great attitude. The pictures are accurate and the views are out of this world. Every thing was clean and comfortable and the items provided were extensive. They were a great source of local information and we could not have had a better time from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. Would return in a heartbeat.
We had an amazing time at the Loveshack in St. Thomas. Make sure you are clear on the directions because it is off the beaten path, but once you arrive it opens up into an incredible area with views that are better than the pictures on the website. The room is large and comfortable, bathroom/shower is outside but still high quality with great views of the ocean, private outdoor hot tub is also a plus. The hosts live on the complex (the loveshack is detached from their main house) and were very helpful in making us feel welcome while still giving us plenty of privacy. They gave us great recommendations for ways to best spend our time on the island and a helpful booklet of driving directions to keep us from getting lost.
Highly recommend. Thanks again Ed and June, we had a great time.
Ed & June have a fantastic property, and they are extraordinarily easy-going (which seems to be the general vibe on St. Thomas). The property was immaculately cleaned, well-appointed, and situated in a remote and quiet part of the island.
The "Love Shack" is separated from the main house by a few yards, and the parking lot in front of the Love Shack is big enough for the cars of Ed, June, and any other guests they have. The secluded hot tub with an amazing view is attached to the main house, but easily accessible through a gate and a door.
From late December to early January, the temperature fluctuated daily between 74 and 82 degrees, with a constant gentle breeze off the ocean. Perfect.
This is an especially good location if you like animals, as the 4 dogs and sundry cats are always available for petting and affection.
The trail down to the secluded beach and to the rocky shore below are both fairly rugged; not for the faint of heart. One requires the use of a knotted rope to descend and ascend. I'm a triathlete, and I was short of breath every time I came back up. But I kept going back down, because it was so beautiful and peaceful.
June has created a guide book with great recommendations for things to do on the island and places to eat. Thirteen restaurant was extraordinary.
Thanks for the great anniversary experience!
OH Chip thank you so much for being so easy while you were here. You and your wife seemed invisible at times.... just happy doing your own thing! I was sorry I had to leave town before you so we didn't get enough time together!!! Come back!!!! All the best to you both! June & Ed
The tree house was amazing!! We had a wonderful time staying here. Ed was nice enough to let us use his amazing pool! The view from the shower was breath taking. Everything from the view to the hammock seats on the balcony was perfect. I def would recommend staying at June and Ed's tree house or their other property. The dogs were also so sweet. I miss them greeting us everyday. Happy was right outside our door when we would wake up in the morning:) Again I would highly recommend stay here, Ed and June are great hosts!
I really don't know how to put into words how amazing June and add were as hosts. They went above and beyond to ensure that our first trip to the USVI was incredibly special. June helped me set up a surprise for my girl upon our arrival, which happened to be our anniversary. Throughout the stay, she and Ed were unbelievably kind helpful and attentive to all of our needs.
The pictures of the property are amazing and very accurate, but they cannot do it justice. This is an incredibly special place that everyone should visit. I cannot wait to return and see the hosts and their wonderful pets (especially Kushi) sometime soon hopefully. Thanks for giving us the time of our lives June and Ed.
We stayed here for a few days last weekend and it was awesome, practically magical! The place itself is perfect and hard to leave. But you will because you can enjoy an amazing private beach with a little climbing and timing (low tide.) It's also close to both the central and east end of the island so you can get to restaurants and bars easily.
I can't imagine a better place to stay on this beautiful island!

About the Host, June
“What do you mean we can’t have fun all the time?”
I wouldn’t be who I am today if I followed all the rules. In fact, it’s because I refused to do what I was told that I’ve had this huge array of experiences. Ok, I wouldn’t say that living out of my car in Hawaii was the best idea I ever had but it sure made me appreciate life and know for sure what I didn’t want!
I like fresh air, warm turquoise water, and open spaces for miles. I like young people and old people, little people and big people as long as I can be who I am around them. I like relationships with no yelling, conversations that get me thinking, characters in books that I can imagine being and I like mashed potatoes and gravy no matter what time of day.
If I had a choice whether or not to stop on the side of the road to help rescue a dog or keep driving to get to an appointment on time, I’d be late for my appointment. But that is about the only thing that would make me late. I like keeping my word.
There has never been a time in my life when I wasn’t interested in what other people were thinking, where they were ‘coming from’, and where they were going as a result of all their experiences.
There also has never been a time in my life when I wasn’t looking at who I am, what I want, how I’m going to get it and what it’s going to look like when I do so I can share it with others.
So, that’s my life. Except for the part I left out about my 5 husbands, my 2 French kids or my job as a Chief Intuitive Officer all while moving over the years from Texas to California to Hawaii to Connecticut to Paris to New York City and finally in 2004 to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands where I live very happily today with my husband our four dogs, four cats and assortment of lizards, iguana’s and tree frogs. Who could ask for anything more?
Did I mention I like swimming in warm turquoise water?
