Queen-sized bed in historic corncrib apartment in the heart of Vermont with gorgeous views of fields and forest. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, we are only renting out our newly renovated Corncrib. It comes with a queen sized bed and a private full bathroom. We will bring breakfast to you on your porch and ask please interact with us wearing masks.

The space
A newly renovated apartment in the old corncrib with a queen-sized bed and a full private bath awaits you when you drive up the road to our home in Vermont. The property has been in our family since the late 1700's. The house was built in 1840 but we suspect that the corncrib was built earlier than that.

Drive up and park facing the barn. Normally we would welcome you into our home but this year, due to the pandemic, we will meet you outside, wearing masks, and show you to your apartment. Despite the need for social distancing we are eager to make you feel right at home.

The Corn Crib comes with a queen sized bed with cotton sheets and feather pillows. The bathroom has fluffy towels, a clawfoot tub and a shower.

Walk out to the waterfall. Stroll past Standing Stone Perennial Gardens. Take a hike though the forest or jog past goat and horse farms. The White River offers fishing, swimming holes and great tubing.

We are just up the road from Vermont Law School. Within a short drive you will find Cabot Cheese Shop, the Quechee Antique Mall, the Golf Club in Woodstock, Simon Pierce Glassworks, Killington Ski Area, Montpelier (Vermont's Capital), Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, Dartmouth College, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital,

Great places to eat include Five Olde or the Worthy Burger in South Royalton, the Canoe Club or Molly's in Hanover, NH, the Cockadoodle Pizza in Bethel, Vt.Sarduccis, NECI or the Skinny Pancake in Montpelier,Vt.

Our rates include a breakfast.

NOTE: This booking is for 1 bedroom with a queen-sized bed which can accommodate up to 2 people. There is an additional charge for more than two people including children to cover the cost breakfast and moving in additional beds.

Guest access
We have 130 acres of fields and forest to explore. There are paths including one to a beautiful waterfall.

Feeders bring birds close to the windows and porch. Other wildlife may include woodchucks, squirrels, coydogs, hawks, foxes, hummingbirds, wild turkeys or deer.

There is a collection of guides to local hiking trails that you may borrow.

Let us know if you would like to feed the chickens or help to collect eggs.

Other things to note
Close by you will find: King Arthur Flour offers baking classes. Celie Fago offers courses in silver clay jewelry making. Bob White Systems offers assistance in starting your own micro-dairy. The Vermont Law School is the top Environmental law school in the country.

Location

South Royalton, Vermont, United States

Stroll the country roads past cows and horses or climb the hill to the sheep farm. A two and a half mile walk takes you along the White River into the village where you will find two excellent restaurants. Five Olde is a sit down style with steak and sea food dishes. Worthy Burger is a gourmet beer pub with grass-fed beef burgers, organic vegetables, and micro-brew beers.

Nestled in the heart of Vermont we are just three miles from I-89 on your way up to all the ski areas and hiking trails.

In non-Covid years we were close to festivals, craft shows, art shows, Agricultural Fairs and so much more.

As your hosts, we love to meet new people from all over the world. We have traveled to Italy and a few other countries in Europe. We have also traveled to Panama and Canada. Evelyn sells her homemade pies and quiches at local farmers markets each week. Her quiches are regularly available for breakfast. She also sells jams, jellies, pickles and relishes which may also be available for tasting upon request. She also substitute teaches at local area schools. Evelyn grew up in Vermont. The B&B is on the farm where her family has lived since the town was founded in the late 1700's. We have lived on both coasts as well as several years in Costa Rica,. We look forward to meeting you and hearing about your travels. Se habla espanol.

During your stay
I love greeting and chatting with guests. Please let me know if you would like to know about the history of the place, where to shop for antiques or where the nearest ski areas are.

If you prefer more privacy, or less contact, just let me know.

I miss eating with guests with everyone seated around the farmhouse table but with the pandemic we found it safer to bring your breakfast up to your porch. There is a coffee maker with sugar and half and half in the apartment. Just let us know what time you would like your breakfast delivered.

I want your stay to be just they way you envision it. Breakfast is served according to your schedule whether early bird or late sleeper.

At times I may need to be away or leave early in the morning. In this case, breakfast will be self-serve but will still consist of a delicious breakfast with hot, homemade food, coffee or tea and seasonal fruits and juices.
