About This Listing
Our quiet one bedroom apartment is located in the Capitol Hill Historic District just minutes away from iconic DC sights such as the Library of Congress and the US Capitol.
Convenient Capitol Hill location near Eastern Market Metro (Blue/Orange lines) and convenient to Library of Congress, US Capitol, Congressional Offices, the Smithsonian and the National Mall. Many restaurants, shops, parks, food stores and cafes on nearby Barracks Row and H Street corridor, including historic Eastern Market.
My neighborhood enjoys many young families as well as homes to senators, congressional representatives and professionals.
The one-bedroom apartment is separate from my living quarters and has a private entrance, an open front room with living and dining areas, a new flat screen TV with DISH 200 satellite package and DVD player, a large bedroom with queen-size bed and double closet. There is a galley kitchen with all the amenities, a full size sofa bed, separate laundry room and wireless Internet.
Parking is on-street and 90% of the time I'm able to find a spot outside the front door. If you request it, I can provide you a visitor's parking pass if you are planning to leave your car on the street more than 2 hours at a time during the day.
There are many grocery stores within 5 minutes walking (you have use of a grocery cart): a Yes Organic Market, a Harris Teeter and a Safeway. A neighborhood convenience market is located just around the corner. Multiple drug stores, dry cleaners, coffee shops are all close by as well. Two gyms, both about a 15-minute walk, have day passes for $15 or $19.
I'll provide you with a Metro SmarTrip card with a few dollars on it. This will save you the time of having to purchase paper fare cards and the $1/trip paper fare card surcharge.
There is a bike-sharing program and a Zip Car parking area within 2 blocks of the apartment.
Other Things to Note
There is a sofa pullout bed that can accommodate 1 extra person.
There is a hair dryer for your convenience.
No smoking on premises. This is a quiet neighborhood, so guests preferring a quiet environment are best-suited. Heating is house-wide, but an electric heater is available for targeted, extra heat.
We had a wonderful stay, great neighborhood, didn't have a chance to meet Louise. We will return another time.
Louise's place was great! It was a very nice neighborhood and close to the metro. The place was clean and cozy. Just right for 3 of us. We'd definitely stay here again!
I'll make this short and sweet. Great apartment, great location, great experience! Will be back for sure.
My wife and I stayed in a fully furnished one-bedroom apartment in Washington, D.C. from January to May of 2015. It is owned by Louise and Patrick Miller (no relation). The apartment is small but adequate for two people. It has a small kitchen, a small dining and living area, a good sized bedroom with a comfortable bed and good closet space, and access to a laundry room. It is a bit dark since it is a basement space and if you stay during the winter you might find a space heater useful. On the plus side, it is located just a mile east of the Capitol--close to museums too--in a fun and safe neighborhood with lots of restaurants and a farmers market. The owners live upstairs and are very accessible and accommodating. They responded to any concerns we had, gave us a sticker that allowed us to park on the street (essential) and even allowed us to use their patio for a gathering. We highly recommend it for anyone who needs temporary housing in D.C.
Great, cosy apartment, walking distance from main attractions. Louise was an amazing host, very welcoming and helpful. All the amenities included enhanced our stay. Highly recommend.
Tina's room is very cozy and clean. Full of art pieces. The neighborhood is very safe with tons of great restaurants! Tina is super friendly, always be ready to help us! We totally enjoyed staying there!
