Comfy Room in Vintage Apartment

Apartment - Private room · N Clarendon Ave, Chicago, IL 60613, United States

The Space

Private room with a queen sized bed in a sunny, vintage apartment on a residential street in the Buena Park section of Uptown. It's a large 4 bedroom apt. on the 3rd floor, with 1 1/2 baths. The kitchen is neither small nor big, but full of all the utensils you might need to cook a feast!

Guests should feel completely at home at our place - cooking, hanging out, relaxing in the living room, etc. I am mostly a "hands-off" host, meaning I can provide the tools and insights to see the city, but I leave the explorations up to the guest. Occasionally my guests and I make plans to sightsee or I will offer to take them to "secret" local spots off the beaten path, but generally I find myself giving privacy to the guests.

There's a great coffeeshop, a pizza joint, and a small grocery on the first floor of the building. Located in one of the more diverse neighborhoods in Chicago, there's tons of shopping, bars, restaurants and music venues within walking distance. We even have a wikipedia page! (website hidden)

I live with one other roommate - we're both twenty-something females, very relaxed, down-to-earth, and easy to get along with. Come stay with us!

  • My friend and I had a wonderful stay with Katie at her beautiful apartment. She was a great host, making us feel at home and giving us some pretty solid advice on things to do/see in town. The location was great, too! The neighborhood felt very safe and put us nearby the attractions of Andersonville and Boystown.

  • Katie was a great host! Super friendly and cool, had an awesome time in Chicago!

  • Had an awesome short stay at Katie's place.
The place is nice and best of all, above a good coffee place - you can get your caffeine fix daily even if it's freezing outside.
The area is nice and not too far from the Sheridan station which you can use to get around.
The food recommendations by Katie are great.

  • I stayed at Katie's place for a few nights with my friend, and we had a great time! The apartment is nice and really big, and not too far from public transport. Katie was fun to hang out with, too. :)

  • Staying with Katie was a pleasure! Katies appartment was located in a very nice uptown neighborhood, I felt safe walking around even late at night which was important because I only used public transpostation to get around. Her place was also a short walk from the red line so getting around was really easy. The actual appartment was very wam and welcoming and my husband and I felt right at home. Katie was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed and was quick to offer reccomendations on things to do as well as directions. We would definitly stay again!

  • Staying with Katie was great! Her appartment is really spacious so that there is enough space for everyone. It's very well located: close to the Montrose Beach and to the red line train. There is even a nice coffeeshop on the corner. Also diners and pubs and the famous Green Mill Jazzclub are within walking distance.
The appartment was clean and Katie is very helpfully with any informations about where to go in Chicago and about the neighbourhood. She even took us on a visit at the Green Mill Club. :)
Finally a successful stay in Chicago!

  • I loved staying with Katie. Her apartment is perfect for a short stay, especially the provided room. Everything was clean and welcoming. I especially loved Buena Park -- super easy to get to the beach (and take a bike down the bike path along the water!) and to downtown via the red line and/or bus. I can't wait to return!

  • Katie was a great guest! She was very open, always had time for me if I had a question about where to go in Chicago.
I had a lot of privacy, that was nice.

If i'm going to Chicago again, i would definitly consider staying at her place again.

About
Sometimes, I like lists. - Born and raised in Chicago. I've left my city many times for periods of time but always come back, I love it! - I'm a do-it-yourself gal. You name it - grow it, cook it, create it, fix it... I like doing work with my hands - Travel style? Always try to do it on the cheap, but most importantly in ways that will lead me to long hangouts with people from the place I'm visiting. Love talking with people, hearing stories and other perspectives... I've travelled mostly in Latin America, and lived in Mexico for over a year. - New favorite hobby - beekeeping! Just finished my first honey harvest this week! - Love to cook and eat with people I love. Hosting Style? I provide all the basics for you to feel at home, just trying to provide a relaxing space where my guests can feel comfortable and cozy. I really enjoy it when guests feel like they have a place where they can feel at home, no matter the length of the stay. Understanding that this is a shared living space, I strive for a mutual understanding of respecting everyone's privacy. If time allows for both parties, I can definitely be down to take guests out and about, showing them the best hole-in-the-wall spots to eat, drink, see architectural treasures, parks, beaches, etc. I grew up in Chicago and love showing my city off when I get the chance to.
