About this listing
Hello! I'm going away for all of August and my lovely loft is available. I have significantly reduced the rate as I am more interested in sharing the experience with good people than making money. Come enjoy Brooklyn in a hard-to-find classic loft...
Come enjoy my lovely 1100 square foot classic loft in the Fort Greene / Williamsburg area of Brooklyn. I have been in this loft for more than 10 years and it has all the classic charm that comes to mind when you think of a Brooklyn loft. The neighborhood is great with plenty of amenities within a short walk of a block or two.
It is a beautiful space with lots of natural light coming through a wall of old, classic steel framed loft windows. It is designed and furnished mid-century modern, with high ceilings and an open, spacious feel. It is very comfortable and clean. The buildings across the street are only 2 stories high so the view is nice and open for miles. The windows face east so the sun rises and floods the loft with morning light and keeps the space bright all day.
The bathroom is very big and gets lots of light with a full tub and shower with water filter. The kitchen is spacious and open with plenty of counter space and a island bar with stools where you can sit and eat. Otherwise, there is a classic diner-style booth from the 50's if you wish to sit and be more comfortable.
There is a new queen sized tempurpedic (cloud supreme) bed, flat screen television, over-sized couch, stereo, record player, wifi, directv, hepa-filter, water filtration system for kitchen tap and shower, dishwasher, and laundry (coin operated on the floor). All cleaning products used are eco-friendly.
The loft is in a classic old warehouse building. . . it is not a new construction or conversion. There is a great roof with 24 hour access with wonderful views and fresh air. It's a perfect place for a bottle of wine.
Everyone that comes into the loft, loves it and feels right at home. It a great space to relax or inspire creativity. Come experience it for yourself...

Interaction with Guests
I interact as much as needed. I prefer to let guests have their space but gladly help out with any suggestions or help they may need.
It's near the Navy Yard in between the very trendy neighborhoods of Fort Greene and Williamsburg. It is less than 2 blocks away from great supermarkets, restaurants, bodegas, and most other necessities. It is on the third floor and the building has an elevator. It is a few blocks from Pratt Institute art school and walking distance to the beautiful Fort Greene Park.
There is convenient bus access to most major subway lines. Pleasant 10 minute walk to G and JMZ trains. There is also a City Bike station 2 blocks away convenient bicycle rental - the best way to get around NYC. By cab, it is $10-15 to lower Manhattan, $8 to Williamsburg.
If you are driving in from out of town, or plan to have a car here, street parking is safe and easily accessible. I have a car and park within a block or two every day.
I have a fair amount of plants and a large fish tank. For extended stays, i kindly ask that the plants be watered and the fish fed. I have some irreplaceable pieces of furniture and collectibles. I simply ask that all tenants respect my home as if it were theirs. There is no smoking within the space. However, if you are a smoker, you can simply walk out into the hallway and smoke by the window. Have fun but treat it as if it were your home.
Really enjoyed Markus's warehouse in Brooklyn. It was roomy, comfortable, very bright (we were there in April), warm (no need to put the heat on) and his eclectic collection of artefacts and lighting made for an interesting and relaxing space.
We thought that it would be a really quiet area but the vegetable produce warehouse across the road kicks into action about 4am and they are pretty noisy until about noon. This was an issue on the first night but after that we seemed to be able to shut it out.
Markus was easy to communicate with and the few small issues we had were sorted out very quickly.
It was great to get out of Manhattan and see a different part of New York and the Clinton Hill / Myrtle Ave area is about a 10 min walk away. Plenty of nice restaurants and bars in this area. A further couple of blocks and you find Dekalb Ave which has more to choose from. We particularly liked the African restaurant Madiba and our server Tashley who really looked after us.
Closer to the apartment, we would definitely recommend the nice little Italian restaurant Il Porto a couple of blocks away on Washington.
Also great to be able to cook in the kitchen which is practical and has all the utensils you would need. Fanatic Fresh food store on Washington has all the supplies you need if you are staying in and cooking.
Citibikes available close by and a ride to the Dumbo area is very easy.
Markus and his place are the reasons I'm on AirBnB. The flat is like nothing I've ever seen or stayed in - exceptionally clean, unique and comfortable. Bus routes are simple and there are a tonne of amazing restaurants and bars in the vicinity. Markus was also a fantastic host who made me feel like I was in a home. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you get the chance - I'll be watching his calendar for my best opportunity.
Markus's true loft home was amazing. He has collected so many interesting artifacts over the years and all add to the flavor of the space. Really unique. The loft is in a historical industrial district, which again makes the environment feel very authentic. The building is on the Brooklyn Greenway with easy bicycle access to the entire waterfront and bike share stations nearby. A great place to stay if this is what you're looking for!
Markus had everything set up for me when I arrived and was very welcoming. The apartment is absolutely gorgeous and has a lot of character, a lot better than staying in a hotel. I would recommend this apartment for anyone visiting the city for a short or long term rental. It's not just New Yorkers that agree that Airbnb is good for New York City.
Great place! The flat is very spacious and sunny in the morning.
A bit noisy with the fish tank but you get used to it :)
Markus is a very nice host. He ansered all our questions and was very supportive. He gave us nice restaurant adressses as well.
The flat is around 25 minutes from Manhattan with the subway. Around 10 minutes by walk from Marcy Ave Station. Grocery stores are very close.
Moreover you can easily go to the Brooklyn bridge by walk at sunset.
If you want a nice place in Brooklyn do not hesitate to book!
Markus was a Great host! Even though he was out of the country he ensured everyday that everything was ok and that we where having a great time! He recommended local spots!
Markus loft is the perfect loft experience! It has huge room full of light and everything you need to feel at home in Brooklyn!
I would not doubt to rent his place again if available next time in New York!
The roof top is an amazing place to have drinks with friends or enjoy amazing views and a glass of wine!
Really loved staying at Markus's Loft apartment, I was visiting form London and this place was really cool, just one big space to hang out it, Markus was out of the country but was easy to contact and was great staying in touch, the place was clean and very comfortable, I stayed for a week and was sad to leave, Thanks Markus.
About the Host, Markus
I love New York. But as the days go by, I get closer to living in a tree fort in the woods somewhere... near the sea.
I spend most of my free time making music, taking pictures, writing, riding my bike, collecting well crafted old things, traveling, snowboarding, surfing, scuba diving, searching for good food....
Over the past 12 years, I have put a lot of time and effort into my loft space to create a very comfortable and inspiring environment. I feel is highly suited for both relaxation as well as creative thinking. Come stay in Brooklyn and enjoy it for yourself. Looking forward to sharing experiences...
