Description

The space

An ancient country-side villa, built at the end of the XVIII century on a previous oil-press with frescoes of that time and restored at the beginning of the last century and again in 1975. The lodging is a freshly refurbished flat at the top floor of the building (I live with my husband at the floor underneath).

Guests have their own bed room, kitchen, bathroom and garden.

The entrance is from a few steps from via San Bernardo, three more staircase flights; arrived! A little effort well worth the sight of the Paradise Gulf and the Portofino Promontory, the quietness of the lodging and of the garden.

For motorbikers, there is a parking slot at the side of the house

Guest access

In addition to their bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, guests have at their disposal their own garden with trees, hammock, deck-chairs and table for a breakfast with sea sight.

Interaction with guests

Beyond the usual support for the use of the flat, we are available to welcome the guests at their arrival at the Pieve Ligure main square to help them with parking and lead them to the house.
I appreciate train travellers and I am ready to collect them with my car at the Pieve Ligure or Bogliasco train stations. However, it is worth noting that a car or a motorbike allow to make the most out of the time spent here, particularly if short.
I am always available for suggestions on tourist and cultural resources of the area, or to practice Taiji in the garden (if it is not too hot!).
Musicians are doubly welcome: we are keen of early music (before Mozart, to be clear), Maurizio plays the bass viols and, if you like, you may play in a small consort, as real "dilettanti".

The neighborhood

Pieve Ligure Alta is reached with 2 km of road from via Aurelia. From "Piazza San Michele" (a.k.a. "piazza della Chiesa"), the peculiar "crose" begin, footpaths (usually paved) which interconnect the town and lend to easy walks.
On the "piazza", there are two bars, a bakery, a butcher and a grocery. The nearest supermarket is Basko (3 km toward Genoa). Nearby there are several restaurants and pizza shops (with home delivery).
Also available in the surroundings: canoe renting (Sori beach, 3.5 km), diving equipment renting in all villages with a beach. Or Taiji practice, as we do ourselves in the garden.
As far as we know, there is no bike renting nearby: the hilly land makes biking hard, though.

Getting around

The small buses of the ATP company go down to sea level and connect with the train stations of Pieve Ligure and Bogliasco and with ATM lines to Genova (westward) or to Recco-Camogli-Rapallo (eastward). At the Bogliasco train station, there are taxis.
But it is also enjoyable to reach the sea on foot, though "crose" and stairs (15 min).
Genoa can be easily reached by car or by bus; we love it a lot and we take every occasions to "get lost" in the maze of its inner city, to buy in the small shops which still defy the competition of shopping centres, or to visit the little known but very rich museums. Never heard of Genovese ice cream shops and ancient confectioneries?
The "Porto antico" area is suitable for an "aperitivo", a dinner and an evening walk, maybe after visiting the Aquarium.

Other things to note

The greatest risk is to fall to laziness... In which case, you'll have our solidarity!
During summer and fall, it is possible to enjoy the exclusive coves of Pieve and Pontetto, with their crystal clear and fishy waters, or the beaches of Sori, Recco, Camogli and Bogliasco, all within a few minutes by car.
We also recommend the spectacular excursion to Punta Chiappa and San Fruttuoso, either by boat from Camogli or on foot from San Rocco and Camogli.

Even without being incorporated, this lodging obeys to the rules and the laws about tourism (Appartamento Ammobiliato a Uso Turistico "Villa del Pittore": Regione Liguria, Dipartimento agricoltura, sport, turismo e cultura Protocollo n° PG/(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Comune di Pieve Ligure Prot. n° 6533. Questura di Genova n° utente 000999).
