I'm a southern gentleman, who has family from South Texas. We are 5 generations of Texas and although I'm not the most "country" of my peers, I do have some traditions that you would only find in Texas. Like eating breakfast tacos every morning. Also I'll do everything I can to make sure your stay during ACL is the best you've ever had.
99% of the time, I can pick you up to and from the airport. Just let me know ahead of time when you're coming!
I live alone in a Cozy 2 bed/2 bath condo. Right now just renting one of the rooms, if you wish to rent out the whole place (for family or friends, please let me know and we'll discuss options)
I live about a 5 min drive to downtown/auditorium shores and a 15 min bikeride. I do have two bikes I can lend. Of course both bikes are lendable as per rental of the unit.
A bit about our community... It's relatively young, most of the folks around here are students, however my close neighbors are around 30 years of age and are super friendly. We live in a safe and accessible gated community. There is also a bus that takes you directly downtown on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The E-Bus (as its called) takes you from the condos to directly to the heart of the entertainment district (7th and San Jacinto) it's $1 each way, so thats a super cheap way for you and your friends to enjoy yourself without having to drive/park. It also runs until 3 AM.
Our place comes with a fully loaded kitchen, dishwasher, and wine. Feel free to help yourself to a bottle or two. If you want some Austin beer, let me know and I'll be sure to supply you with only the best this town has to offer. None of that cheap lonestar crap.
We have one couch, a 35' TV w/ a blu ray player with a netflix account and free wifi. The room you'll be staying in only has bunk beds. I don't care if you remove the beds to make a full size bed (for couples, I suppose) but all I ask is you put the beds back in their places.
One last thing, some folks who stay with me do their own thing, which is completely ok. But if you want to hang with me, be prepared to go swimming, party downtown, eat like you've never eaten before, hear live music, and dance with strangers (I'll be your number one wingman)
I had the best airbnb experience thus far staying with DJ. As he was not around when I arrived, he took care to provide me with the necessary instructions/information so that I can let myself into the apartment and make myself comfortable. The place was as described and I was pleasantly surprised to receive a gift bag which had maps in it! DJ was a fantastic host - he made breakfast, showed me around Austin and gave me recommendations so that I can do my own exploration. It was good times trying good BBQ food and checking out the live music scene. Thanks DJ!
DJ was a such a solid host. He:
-cooked amazing breakfast
-provided delicious beer
-got me a FREE concert ticket to see Fitz and the Tantrums with some friends of his at Austin City Limits
-introduced me to a bunch of good travelin folk
-knew where to go and what to do
-protected me in a street fight. wait. no, there was no street fight.
-took me on a santa pub crawl... and danced like JT
Haha so yeah can't say enough. Had a great experience in Austin thanks to DJ and would do it again in a heartbeat.
DJ is an incredible host! His house is INCREDIBLY clean and quiet but definitely warm and (website hidden) picked me up and dropped me off at the airport!
Great place for a short stay, DJ a great host. Highly recommended.
I can only repeat what other's have said: DJ is an absolutely amazing host, and anyone would be lucky to stay with him! Despite a busy work schedule, DJ made me delicious breakfast each morning and took me for some great Vietnamese food as well. He was so incredibly hospitable, offering me just about anything to make my stay more comfortable.
His place is clean, quiet and well located for the price. It's super convenient to the airport, and it only takes a few minutes to get to any hot spot in Austin. Don't hesitate to stay with this open-minded, fun-loving dude - you won't regret it!
DJ was a fantastic host and went out of his way, pretty much every day to make my time in Austin better. Breakfast tacos, drinks on a night out, and even finding the time to pick me up were highlights.
Cannot be recommended highly enough.
We had an easy (email hidden)'s for ACL - he was welcoming, hospitable and helpful with any questions we had.
I needed a place to stay for just one (website hidden)'s place was great and he was very welcoming, even made breakfast for me before I left the next day! Definitely recommended.
Just stayed for one night but DJ's place was great. He got back to me right away which I really appreciated and it was exactly what I was looking for. He was a really gracious host, laid back and friendly, and would have cooked for me had I let him haha. I know it looks small but I'm 6'3" and I fit in the bed just fine. I'd definitely stay here again.
DJ was the most fun, hospitable host I could have asked for. He always kept in touch and even when my bus was running an hour late, he still came to escort me to the apartment. I was greeted with a gift bag full of useful goodies. From the first night I arrived, all of his friends became my friends ad I never once felt out of place. He was always up for a fun time. We went salsa dancing, biking, and to places in Austin I had never been to. He introduced me to Game of Thrones and made simple but delicious meals. this was my first time using this service, but after reading all the rave reviews I decided to get in contact with him. I am so glad I have made a new friend and I will definitely see him again the next time I am in Austin!
