About this listing
Sarasota Magazine quotes our beach cottage as " fresh and bright with a mid-century vibe that welcomes guests from all over the world and offers a refreshing alternative to the shell and fish decor of so many coastal cottages". That we do!
A stone's throw from beautiful Lido Beach near downtown Sarasota, our cheery yellow house incorporates 3 entirely separate units - a 2 bed ( https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/751886 ), a 1 bed ( this one ) and 1 studio apartment ( https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/756565 ). This listing is for the owners' 1 bedroom apartment. It has high speed internet, 60 in flat screen TV, a fully equipped kitchen with door to back patio and private dining area, and a pink tiled bathroom with many original (1960 ) features and a new custom made cabinet by the owner. There are cool terrazzo floors throughout and mid-century style furniture and decor, including a fantastic new blue couch to lounge and watch tv from. We also just installed central air and heat so you will always be cozy. There is a nice outdoor landscaped garden palm trees, tropical plants, lounge chairs, umbrellas, a shady hammock and different areas to sit and relax. A bbq grill and dining area is available anytime and we offer a washer and dryer free for guests use. We provide bikes ( including a vintage tandem! ), surf boards, flippers and snorkels, coolers, beach chairs and many other things for the beach. Gorgeous sunsets are also free!
Our quiet street is one of the nicest on Lido Key, all low rises, with a quaint "time stood still" feel. Lido Pavilion and pool are 1/2 block away and the beach just beyond it. Make your coffee in the morning and wander barefoot to drink it at the water's edge. At the other end of Grant Drive are parks and mangroves and we are minutes away from nature trails, kayak rentals and access to the 4 bodies of water that make up the beautiful 100 acre South Lido Beach Park. It's the perfect place to run, stroll, bike and explore.
Nearby is the elegant St Armand's Circle where you can shop and dine at wonderful restaurants like Shore and Venezia ( we will give you a long list of places all over Sarasota when you arrive! ). In fact with the bus at the end of our street that goes downtown you don't even need to rent a car during your stay! Downtown Sarasota, just across the gorgeous Ringling Bridge, also offers plenty. We love the Sarasota Opera, the Ringling Museum, the Historic Asolo Theatre, the shops on Main Street, the Marina and the hundreds of different places to eat and drink.
We aim to create a calm and friendly guest house with a "boutique" style, filling the units with lovely furniture and decor and art that we have picked up on our travels.
Mostly staying on site, Dale and I will be on hand to welcome you and look after your needs during your stay. We have a furniture and photography business in town - Wood Street Studio - and are a sociable and friendly couple who love to travel and meet people from all over the world. We would be honored to share our space with you.

Interaction with Guests
Because my favorite part of this business is meeting travelers to Sarasota, I am very present during our guests' stay and my husband and I often interact in a social way as well as ensuring a smooth check in and that their needs are met.
Ah… Lido… such a paradise. Close to downtown, yet it's own little world by the water. Such a sweet, slow, quiet community of people who live here all year round and then an interesting influx of tourists who visit during high season makes for a perfect balance. Very casual ( barefoot to the beach with morning coffee ), in season the beaches are fairly empty during the weekdays but busy at the weekend with Sunday erupting into a great one man band party at the Pavilion with regulars dancing, eating lobster rolls and drinking beer and wine coolers. Sunsets are always spectacular.
The bus is at the end of the street and it goes to town every hour. Very easy, I do it all the time.
Other Things to Note
The rates charge INCLUDE the 12% tax we have to pay on all short term rentals.
As this is our own unit, we trust our guests will respect and enjoy our treasures and carefully picked furniture. We have fallen in love with Lido and hope our visitors do too. We feel our property is intimate, unique and beautiful and we are so happy to share the experience with like-minded people who will embrace our home, community and neighbors with gusto!
We do not allow smoking or pets in any of our units and encourage you to save water and electricity at all times possible. We ask all guests to be very considerate to other guests staying, taking care to keep noise levels down after hours and not leaving towels and personal belongings about the garden. Many thanks!
From Dec 22, 2016 - Apr 30, 2017 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
Hi there, I am a travel photographer originally from the UK and am now based in Sarasota, Florida where I have set up a studio with my husband who is a furniture designer/fabricator. We love the freedom of coming and going but also love to offer our beautiful beach apartments and funky house in town to others that travel to this area.
Bon voyage! Jenny
