About This Listing
Sarasota Magazine quotes our beach cottage as " fresh and bright with a mid-century vibe that welcomes guests from all over the world and offers a refreshing alternative to the shell and fish decor of so many coastal cottages". That we do!
A stone's throw from beautiful Lido Beach near downtown Sarasota, our cheery yellow house incorporates 3 entirely separate units - one 2 bedroom, one 1 bedroom and 1 STUDIO apartment. This listing is for the bright and sunny studio. It has high speed internet, 47in flat screen TV with cable ( inc. HBO ), a small brand new custom and fully equipped kitchen with Miele oven, Wolf induction cooktop and undercount fridge. The retro funky blue bathroom has many original (1960 ) features. The bed is a comfy queen size and the bedding new and fresh. There are cool terrazzo floors throughout and mid-century style furniture and decor. We recently installed central air and heat. We have a nice outdoor garden space with tropical plants, a hammock and various lounge chairs and umbrellas where you can relax and read. There is a bbq grill and outdoor dining area for use and a free washer and dryer is round the back. We provide bikes( even a vintage tandem! ) , surf boards, flippers and snorkels, coolers, beach chairs and many other things for the beach. Parking is available in front of the house. Gorgeous sunsets are also free!
Our quiet street is one of the nicest on Lido Key, all low rises, with a quaint "time stood still" feel. Lido Pavilion and pool are 1/2 block away and the beach and Gulf of Mexico just beyond it. Make your coffee in the morning and wander barefoot to drink it at the water's edge. At the other end of Grant Drive are parks and mangroves and we are minutes away from nature trails, kayak rentals and access to the 4 bodies of water that make up the beautiful 100 acre South Lido Beach Park. It is the perfect area to run, stroll, bike and explore.
Nearby is the elegant St Armand's Circle where you can shop and dine at wonderful restaurants like Shore and Venezia ( we will give you a long list of places all over Sarasota when you arrive! ). In fact with the bus at the end of our street that goes downtown you don't even need to rent a car during your stay! Downtown Sarasota, just across the gorgeous Ringling Bridge also offers plenty. We love the Sarasota Opera, the Ringling Museum, the Historic Asolo Theatre, the shops on Main Street, the Marina and the hundreds of different places to eat and drink.
We aim to create a calm and friendly guest house with a "boutique" style, filling the units with lovely furniture and decor and art that we have picked up on our travels.
Mostly staying on site, Dale and I will be on hand to welcome you and look after your needs during your stay. We have a business ( furniture building and photography ) and are a sociable and friendly couple who love to travel and meet people from all over the world. We would be honored to share our space with you.

Interaction with Guests
Because my favorite part of this business is meeting travelers to Sarasota, I am very present during our guests' stay and my husband and I often interact in a social way as well as ensuring a smooth check in and that their needs are met.
Ah… Lido… such a paradise. Close to downtown, yet it's own little world by the water. Such a sweet, slow, quiet community of people who live here all year round and then an interesting influx of tourists who visit during high season makes for a perfect balance. Very casual ( barefoot to the beach with morning coffee ), beaches are fairly empty during the weekdays but busy at the weekend with Sunday erupting into a great one man band party with regulars dancing, eating lobster rolls and drinking beer and wine coolers. Sunsets are spectacular.
The bus is at the end of the block and goes every house to town. Very easy. I do it all the time.
Other Things to Note
All prices quoted INCLUDE the 12% state and tourist tax we have to pay on short rentals.
We have fallen in love with Lido and hope our visitors do too. We feel our property is intimate, unique and beautiful and we are so happy to share the experience with like-minded people who will embrace our home, community and neighbors with gusto!
All we ask is that you are mindful of other guests that might be your neighbors, turn the air-conditioning up/off when you are out, treat our property like it is your own, take the trash and recycles out on Tues and have a happy healthy vacation!
We loved our stay in the Studio at Lido Beach House! The location is perfect and the house and garden area are perfectly decorated and manicured. The nice touches such as beach equipment and brand new bikes were really appreciated and ensure that Jenny and her husband, and Lido Beach House, stand out from others in the area. We would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to visit Sarasota and can't wait to make it back again some time!
We had a wonderful time at the Lido Beach House. The studio itself is lovely - definitely big enough for two and really beautifully furnished with mid century style pieces. The mid century modern history of the area was part of the reason we were visiting, so that was a nice perk. Jenny was great and gave us all the info we needed. The location is also perfect - Lido Key is a beautiful summer holiday type destination, and from the house the beach is moments walk. You can also walk within a few minutes to a nice area with upscale shops and cafes and so on. The beach at Lido is perfect - soft white sand, and mild turquoise ocean. Just book it!
The Lido Beach House Studio was just as described. A simple, cozy place to use as a home base for a wonderful beach vacation. The unit itself was fully stocked with everything you might need to be comfortable (appliances, flatware, silverware, towels, extra bedding, etc.) and was immaculately clean upon our arrival.
The Lido Beach House is no more than a block and a half from a very nice public beach, so if you just want to hang out at the beach all day you don't have to drive at all.
The studio is one unit of a 3-unit house, and most of the outside seating areas are communal, which we found to be ideal as it made socializing with our "neighbors" easy. We even made some friends that we plan to keep in touch with long after the vacation has ended!
We had an amazing stay at Jenny's beach house. The location is fantastic, a few minutes from the beach and a short walk from St Armands Circle. The flat itself was perfect for us. Clean, stylish and very well equipped! Jenny was a great and very communicative host. It really was the perfect stay for us and we hope to be back in the future!
What a wonderful spot! The studio was perfect and I didn't want to leave. Loved the decor inside and the garden area was so special! It was great to have our friends in the unit next door too. So handy to the beach and the circle. We had a blast on the bikes too. We look forward to staying again.
Location is always so important to me and this was the most central, best location. Half a block from the beach, a pool, and a great snack bar. And there is the short walk to great restaurants and shopping. Jenny is a most gracious host. The efficiency closely matched the pictures and my neighbors on both sides for the month proved to be considerate and friendly. Jenny and her husband have done a lot of improvements in the last couple of years and more improvements are anticipated. She is also receptive to any suggestions for additional changes as well. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
