Sarasota Magazine quotes our beach cottage as " fresh and bright with a mid-century vibe that welcomes guests from all over the world and offers a refreshing alternative to the shell and fish decor of so many coastal cottages". That we do!
A stone's throw from beautiful Lido Beach near downtown Sarasota, our cheery yellow house incorporates 3 entirely separate units - one 2 bedroom, one 1 bedroom and 1 STUDIO apartment. This listing is for the bright and sunny studio. It has high speed internet, 47in flat screen TV with cable ( inc. HBO ), a small brand new custom and fully equipped kitchen with Miele oven, Wolf induction cooktop and undercount fridge. The retro funky blue bathroom has many original (1960 ) features. The bed is a comfy queen size and the bedding new and fresh. There are cool terrazzo floors throughout and mid-century style furniture and decor. We recently installed central air and heat. We have a nice outdoor garden space with tropical plants, a hammock and various lounge chairs and umbrellas where you can relax and read. There is a bbq grill and outdoor dining area for use and a free washer and dryer is round the back. We provide bikes( even a vintage tandem! ) , surf boards, flippers and snorkels, coolers, beach chairs and many other things for the beach. Parking is available in front of the house. Gorgeous sunsets are also free!
Our quiet street is one of the nicest on Lido Key, all low rises, with a quaint "time stood still" feel. Lido Pavilion and pool are 1/2 block away and the beach and Gulf of Mexico just beyond it. Make your coffee in the morning and wander barefoot to drink it at the water's edge. At the other end of Grant Drive are parks and mangroves and we are minutes away from nature trails, kayak rentals and access to the 4 bodies of water that make up the beautiful 100 acre South Lido Beach Park. It is the perfect area to run, stroll, bike and explore.
Nearby is the elegant St Armand's Circle where you can shop and dine at wonderful restaurants like Shore and Venezia ( we will give you a long list of places all over Sarasota when you arrive! ). In fact with the bus at the end of our street that goes downtown you don't even need to rent a car during your stay! Downtown Sarasota, just across the gorgeous Ringling Bridge also offers plenty. We love the Sarasota Opera, the Ringling Museum, the Historic Asolo Theatre, the shops on Main Street, the Marina and the hundreds of different places to eat and drink.
We aim to create a calm and friendly guest house with a "boutique" style, filling the units with lovely furniture and decor and art that we have picked up on our travels.
Mostly staying on site, Dale and I will be on hand to welcome you and look after your needs during your stay. We have a business ( furniture building and photography ) and are a sociable and friendly couple who love to travel and meet people from all over the world. We would be honored to share our space with you.

Interaction with Guests
Because my favorite part of this business is meeting travelers to Sarasota, I am very present during our guests' stay and my husband and I often interact in a social way as well as ensuring a smooth check in and that their needs are met.
Ah… Lido… such a paradise. Close to downtown, yet it's own little world by the water. Such a sweet, slow, quiet community of people who live here all year round and then an interesting influx of tourists who visit during high season makes for a perfect balance. Very casual ( barefoot to the beach with morning coffee ), beaches are fairly empty during the weekdays but busy at the weekend with Sunday erupting into a great one man band party with regulars dancing, eating lobster rolls and drinking beer and wine coolers. Sunsets are spectacular.
The bus is at the end of the block and goes every house to town. Very easy. I do it all the time.
Other Things to Note
All prices quoted INCLUDE the 12% state and tourist tax we have to pay on short rentals.
We have fallen in love with Lido and hope our visitors do too. We feel our property is intimate, unique and beautiful and we are so happy to share the experience with like-minded people who will embrace our home, community and neighbors with gusto!
All we ask is that you are mindful of other guests that might be your neighbors, turn the air-conditioning up/off when you are out, treat our property like it is your own, take the trash and recycles out on Tues and have a happy healthy vacation!
We felt welcomed from the very beginning and loved the inviting patio entrance to our studio cottage. If it was too chilly or windy to be at the beach, the patio was a quiet sheltered little refuge. The short walk to the beach was perfect....just far enough for privacy, but close enough to easily walk carrying beach gear. We loved having beach chairs available. Loved the bikes. Loved the quaint bright studio. The beach was wonderful and it was great having the public restrooms and snack bar/outdoor restaurant so convenient.
Jenny texted us to let us know she was sick and unavailable when we arrived and gave us numbers to call with any questions. The place was clean and very attractively decorated. Think Madmen with more color and cuter.
The bottle of wine in the fridge drawer was a nice touch.
Jenny, Thanks so much for letting us stay at the Lido Beach Studio over the Christmas break. We loved all the amenities and your special touches. It seemed everywhere we turned we found little items that were unique to your home that helped enrich our stay. We hope to return for and stay a longer time so we really can take in more of your hospitality and the great beach that is so close by.
Jenny and Dale are excellent hosts, and the property is phenomenal. Better than advertised--the pictures, while gorgeous, don't do the place justice. It's a short walk to Lido Beach, a short bike ride to North Lido (the more private area of the beach), and a bike ride or walk to anywhere on the Key. All amenities are provided, including beach towels, chairs, coolers, games, umbrellas--you name it. Everything one might want in a beach house is there. Perfect.
The studio itself is unique--not your typical wicker-and-shells--very well-decorated with mid-century touches and Jenny's photography, and beautifully finished with Dale's handiwork and Jenny's eye for decorative detail (love the pillows and blanket!). The neighborhood is quiet and serene; it was a pleasure waking to the east-facing sun, heading out to the beach, relaxing in the courtyard, bike-riding along the key, shooting up the scenic highway to explore, and returning to a comfortable, quiet studio. We almost felt like locals!
We should add that Jenny was wonderfully communicative throughout the process, from booking to arrival to departure. Much appreciated.
We had a wonderful time; we felt especially welcomed by the card and anniversary champagne, and enjoyed chatting with Jenny and Dale. We will definitely return. Thanks, Jenny, Dale, and Lido Beach House!

Jenny was accessible by email throughout my stay, and I met her (and her husband) in person on my first or second day there. They gave clear instructions on how to access everything...including bikes and beach accoutrements. The place itself is absolutely adorable and has everything one needs for a restful stay at the beach.
The Lido Beach House was perfect for our weekend getaway. We were able to walk to the beach in the morning and then hop over to St. Armands Circle to take advantage of the restaurants with outdoor dining. And we loved being able to sit outside the beach house in the evening and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day.
The studio itself has everything you would need. The kitchen, while sized appropriately for a studio, is fully equipped, stylish and very modern. The under-the-counter fridge is very cool. On our second night, we learned that Dale made the pieces of furniture in the studio that we had been admiring all weekend.
Even though Jenny was traveling during our weekend getaway and we did not have the opportunity to meet her face-to-face, we felt well taken care of. She provided all the information we needed in advance and left us with a list of suggestions for getting around the area. During our second evening there, we met Dale who was very friendly and welcoming.
We couldn't have asked for a better weekend!
Jennie's place was everything we hoped it would be and more! Designed with excellent, retro-chic style, equipped with all the high quality cooking equines we could think of, minutes to the beach, quiet and serene. The private outdoor space was also fun to have dinners in. I only wish I realized earlier there were beach towels and umbrellas we could use. The beach is amazing! We had a wonderful time and hope to come back!

Hi there, I am a travel photographer originally from the UK and am now based in Sarasota, Florida where I have set up a studio with my husband who is a furniture designer/fabricator. We love the freedom of coming and going but also love to offer our beautiful beach apartments and funky house in town to others that travel to this area.
Bon voyage! Jenny
