About this listing
Sarasota Magazine quotes our beach cottage as " fresh and bright with a mid-century vibe that welcomes guests from all over the world and offers a refreshing alternative to the shell and fish decor of so many coastal cottages". That we do!
A stone's throw from beautiful Lido Beach near downtown Sarasota, our cheery yellow house incorporates 3 entirely separate units - one 2 bedroom, one 1 bedroom and 1 STUDIO apartment. This listing is for the bright and sunny studio. It has high speed internet, 47in flat screen TV with cable ( inc. HBO ), a small brand new custom and fully equipped kitchen with Miele oven, Wolf induction cooktop and undercount fridge. The retro funky blue bathroom has many original (1960 ) features. The bed is a comfy queen size and the bedding new and fresh. There are cool terrazzo floors throughout and mid-century style furniture and decor. We recently installed central air and heat. We have a nice outdoor garden space with tropical plants, a hammock and various lounge chairs and umbrellas where you can relax and read. There is a bbq grill and outdoor dining area for use and a free washer and dryer is round the back. We provide bikes( even a vintage tandem! ) , surf boards, flippers and snorkels, coolers, beach chairs and many other things for the beach. Parking is available in front of the house. Gorgeous sunsets are also free!
Our quiet street is one of the nicest on Lido Key, all low rises, with a quaint "time stood still" feel. Lido Pavilion and pool are 1/2 block away and the beach and Gulf of Mexico just beyond it. Make your coffee in the morning and wander barefoot to drink it at the water's edge. At the other end of Grant Drive are parks and mangroves and we are minutes away from nature trails, kayak rentals and access to the 4 bodies of water that make up the beautiful 100 acre South Lido Beach Park. It is the perfect area to run, stroll, bike and explore.
Nearby is the elegant St Armand's Circle where you can shop and dine at wonderful restaurants like Shore and Venezia ( we will give you a long list of places all over Sarasota when you arrive! ). In fact with the bus at the end of our street that goes downtown you don't even need to rent a car during your stay! Downtown Sarasota, just across the gorgeous Ringling Bridge also offers plenty. We love the Sarasota Opera, the Ringling Museum, the Historic Asolo Theatre, the shops on Main Street, the Marina and the hundreds of different places to eat and drink.
We aim to create a calm and friendly guest house with a "boutique" style, filling the units with lovely furniture and decor and art that we have picked up on our travels.
Mostly staying on site, Dale and I will be on hand to welcome you and look after your needs during your stay. We have a business ( furniture building and photography ) and are a sociable and friendly couple who love to travel and meet people from all over the world. We would be honored to share our space with you.

Interaction with Guests
Because my favorite part of this business is meeting travelers to Sarasota, I am very present during our guests' stay and my husband and I often interact in a social way as well as ensuring a smooth check in and that their needs are met.
Ah… Lido… such a paradise. Close to downtown, yet it's own little world by the water. Such a sweet, slow, quiet community of people who live here all year round and then an interesting influx of tourists who visit during high season makes for a perfect balance. Very casual ( barefoot to the beach with morning coffee ), beaches are fairly empty during the weekdays but busy at the weekend with Sunday erupting into a great one man band party with regulars dancing, eating lobster rolls and drinking beer and wine coolers. Sunsets are spectacular.
The bus is at the end of the block and goes every house to town. Very easy. I do it all the time.
Other Things to Note
All prices quoted INCLUDE the 12% state and tourist tax we have to pay on short rentals.
We have fallen in love with Lido and hope our visitors do too. We feel our property is intimate, unique and beautiful and we are so happy to share the experience with like-minded people who will embrace our home, community and neighbors with gusto!
All we ask is that you are mindful of other guests that might be your neighbors, turn the air-conditioning up/off when you are out, treat our property like it is your own, take the trash and recycles out on Tues and have a happy healthy vacation!
Jenny and Dale are great hosts. The Lido Beach house is in a perfect location : close to the beach and St Armand's Circle. The quiet neighborhood is ideal.
They provide great local information to help make your stay enjoyable as well as bicycles, beach chairs, umbrellas etc for guest to share.
Awesome little place, it had everything we needed and more. Cant wait to go back
My wife and I loved the Lido Beach House studio. It was exactly as advertised, with stylish decorations and very convenient to both the beach and St. Armands. The street was quiet, with easy access to peaceful parks and several food options within walking distance. The studio itself was clean and well-kept, with effective air-conditioning and hot water, and all the necessities. Jenny was a great host, very friendly and helpful. We hope to have the opportunity to visit again.
Jenny is such a fabulous hostess! We stayed with her last year and came back again this summer for vacation. Lido Key is very cute and Jenny's beach house is just a minute's walk to the beach. Her yard is a great little retreat area with beautiful trees/plants/flowers and we loved using the bikes to ride around the neighborhood and see all of the gorgeous houses. It's been especially helpful to us that Jenny also has beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas to bring to the beach so we didn't have to bring anything or buy anything. We also loved having a kitchen and access to a grill to be able to cook at home.
While you're visiting, definitely try paddle boarding- the launch area is just a couple mins walk down the street. Also, check out the beaches that are a bit further away but worth the drive if you've got a car- Long Boat Key and Anna Maria Island. If you make it up to Anna Maria, go to The Donut Experiment!
We love Sarasota because everyone is so friendly and it's great to be around so many active people who love being outside. Jenny has always been so helpful to recommend places to us and has always been available any time we've had a question. Lido Beach House is a wonderful vacation spot and I'd continue to recommend it over and over again!
Excellent hosts who communicated quickly, and stopped to say a quick hi! The property is exactly what the photos represent, complete with beach accessories. The beach is walkable being at the end of a short block, and St Armands which is full of food and shopping is a very short drive, a quick bike, or pleasant walk away.
Lido Beach House = perfect. If and when I am back in the Sarasota area, this will be the place I stay. Clean, comfortable, quiet, has everything you could need or want and is 3 minutes from the beach. Thank you Jenny!
Lido beach house was exactly as advertised. Short walk to the beach and a leisurely bike ride into town. The apartment was cosy and perfect for my wife and I.
