Welcome home in NYC!
This art-filled, 750 Sq. Ft (75 m2) modern loft is located on 12th Street, between Union Square and Washington Square. Location, Location, Location... this is the most convenient place for getting around NYC, day or night.
Welcome to NYC! This art-filled, modern loft is located on 12th Street, between Union Square and Washington Square in Greenwich Village--the heart of downtown Manhattan.
The 750 sq ft loft is on the 4th floor of a classic NYC cast iron facade building on a fantastically quiet block. It is literally steps from everything downtown has to offer, The Strand Bookstore, The Greenmarket at Union Square, NYU, The East and West village, Meatpacking, SOHO, NOHO, NOLITA, Flatiron, Gramercy Park, Tribeca, FiDi and Chelsea.
The best shopping the city has to offer is all around--the amazing fashion boutiques of Bleeker St and avant-gaurde offerings in Chelsea and Tribeca. All the major furniture galleries are right downstairs and emerging designer labels can be found all around in the East Village, Noho, Nolita and Lower East Side. The new hip-strip all along the Bowery with stores, bars and restaurants is just a few mins away. Are you an art lover? All the major galleries in West Chelsea are just an amazing walk up the Highline Park--A Must See! There are also all the emerging galleries and the New Museum close by on the Bowery and LES.
The building has a secure card entry system and keyed elevator access. Once you walk into the well lit wood floored loft, you'll find an open space with cleverly separated areas. To make sure you're always comfortable, there is heating, A/C and ceiling fans as well.
The bedroom area has a new queen size bed and nightstands with reading lamps that you can dim. There is a small rack with wooden hangers to make sure your suits, dresses, shirts stay wrinkle free.
For storage, there is a large white cabinet with as many shelves as you need. You'll also find a bookcase with hundreds of tittles in case you need something to read. If you are coming with an infant or toddler we may be able to furnish you with a travel cot and stroller for your visit.
The living area has a modern couch, a concrete coffee table and a pair of rare, 3 legged Arne Jacobsen Ant Chairs. There is music system that you can hook up your Ipod to and a 40" Flat Screen HD television connected to full Cable TV, including nearly every premium movie channel. Should there be more than 2 people staying in the loft, the couch can easily convert into a very comfortable bed (not a pull out or futon) well suited for a couple. If you prefer not to share the "guest" bed, we also have double height, queen size aerobes a queen size that is available.
There are extra sheets, blankets, and pillows in the cabinet.
In the dining area, there is a wood table that can seat up to 6 people with room to spare. Should you need one, there is a wireless printer tucked away on the vintage steel counter near the refrigerator.
There is a stainless steel chef's kitchen stocked with an incredible array of cooking ingredients, specialty items and spices. There are convenient tools for your use such as coffee and espresso makers, a toaster and instant hot water dispenser. Lastly, you'll find no shortage of place settings, champagne flutes and wine glasses to make sure you'll have a grand time.
WIth the Union Square Greenmarket, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and loads of specialty boutiques just downstairs you are in food heaven! Even though the kitchen has everything you need to cook amazing meals, most of the city's best restaurants, bars and lounges are incredibly close by. We're always happy to make a long list of recommendations!
The loft has a private bath with rain shower and a vintage claw-foot, extra large bath. Your stay will be luxurious and comfortable with amenities like a new washer/dryer, hairdryer, candles, and emergency toiletries/bathroom supplies, just in case you forget something at home. Just in case your dress or suit need a refresh, there is a professional steamer tucked away in the bathroom as well.
One of the best parts of this loft (especially in the Spring, Summer or Autumn) is that it has direct access to a large, 2-tiered fire escape for those who want the quintessential NY view. On pleasant nights, you can enjoy a glass of wine or have a beer while barbecuing on the small cast iron grill.
This is NYC at it's most convenient, most affordable, most secure and most iconic!
We hope that people who select to stay in our loft feel like they are at home. In that spirit, we encourage our guests to use anything they wish in the loft. We try to keep it stocked full of things people enjoy, from a vast array of items to compliment even the most creative cooks, a large selection of art and literature books, to various types of coffee makers, to a selection of bottles to seek out your inner mixologist!
The only thing we ask is that you either try to replace what you use or leave us money to do so upon you departure. We ask this so that all our guests can enjoy feeling at home when they visit.
We love interacting with our guests as much as they wish. That said, the loft functions completely independently so guests can maintain the level of privacy that they are comfortable with. Of course, should you need anything or have a question, we're around to help.
Location, Location, Location... The area between Union Square and Washington Square is the most convenient place for getting around day or night.
We are also surrounded by the most vibrant food, bar and shopping areas in the city both in terms of restaurants, stores, and markets. Getting to most of the hip (and often fantastic!) outposts in Brooklyn is also extremely simple from our neighborhood.
Every Major subway line is within a few short blocks with the transit hub of Union Square being the closest (2 mins, away)! We also have a network of buses passing through and many, many Citibike stations.
Best of all, walking anywhere is simple and safe from our neighborhood--anytime day or night.
If you need anything or any advice prior or during your stay, please feel free to reach out. We love our guests to feel at home and to become New Yorkers the instant they decide to stay in our loft.
Lastly, the loft is generally fully serviced every Saturday. The cleaning fee that is charged for each stay ($65) covers stays that are 1 week or less. For guests who are longer than 1 week, an additional cleaning fee needs to be added for each week of your stay.
Lastly, we discourage people for staying for just 1 night as it incurs special cleaning services that becomes costly. All 1 night stays will be charged an aditional $130 for special cleaning services at the time of making a reservation.
We don't have a great deal of rules, most are common sense.
Primarily, Please respect the apartment and everything in it.
You are welcome to read the books inside, but please don't take them home.
If you use the washer/dryer please pat the door area dry and leave it open so it stays fresh and clean!
We love to make sure things are convenient for people when they arrive, especially after a long journey. We try to make sure the basics are there for you and perhaps even a few treats to start off your stay right! We are happy that you use whatever you wish, but to make sure every guest has a great time please remember to replace any supplies that you use. It's easy to find everything nearby.
If you are cooking please keep the area clean and wash dishes and vessels--just like in most places, mountains of dirty dishes attract unwanted guests!
Keep track of your keys and entry card-if you loose them you'll have to pay for their replacement. Please don't be excessively or belligerently loud---it's Manhattan and there are neighbors!
For those of you who are smokers, the large fire escape will be a sanctuary for you. Many buildings in NY don't allow smoking within them so this give you easy access without the hassle of going downstairs.
Because we know that a pet is often our best friend, we'll consider pets on a case by case basis. If you want to bring yours along, please let us know the details and we can let you know accordingly.
We loved the time spent at the apartment, Highly recommended for those coming to NYC and looking for a space that is young and fun.
Excellent space, well maintained, close to everything. Host is very hospital and friendly. You will feel home on the first day. Everything works perfectly and no surprises at all.
Everything was as expected. Sandy and Julie are adorable and very available. The apartment was as described, clean and tidy, charming furnished. Reviewer note: having a glass of wine on the fire stairs is a must! Hope to be back in sandy apartment soon.
We stayed at Sandy's place for 2 weeks, and we couldn't have asked for a better place for our stay in New York. The photos dont even do the apartment justice, it was large and extremely comfortable. It felt like a home away from home, and was such a great place to come back to after a full day of exploring.
Sandy was a great host, gave us some great recomendations for food and things to do, and was always avaiable is there were any issues (even though there were none). I made a mistake with the booking, and Sandy had no worries, and accomodated us to ensure we were as comfortable as possible.
Having a full laundry made it much easier, especially being away for so long, we were able to clean our clothes regularly, which was a huge plus.
Next time we come back to New York, we will make sure Sandy's place is available!
First of all, Sandy was an exceptional host...Helpful, personable, and welcoming. I got the full tour of how everything worked and had a delightful conversation along the way. The apartment was exactly as advertised, I was impressed...Spacious, clean, equipped with everything you need for a stay. The neighborhood is a real gem. You can't go wrong with this location.
Fantastic experience in spacious welcoming apartment. Exceptional facilities make for a comfortable stay Sandy was very generous in sharing knowledge and suggestions for improving our outings in New York
Excellent location with access to Subway
I'm a New Yorker, born and raised. I am a designer and have wanderlust in my blood. If you would like to know anything about the loft and my amazing city, please feel free to ask!
When you meet people from all over the world here in New York they all say one thing that I think sums up the allure of NYC.
The hardest thing to do in New York is leave!
