Come stay in our nicely renovated 19th century duplex in a beautiful neighborhood less than a mile from historic downtown. Guests stay in the 3 bedroom/1 bath upstairs apartment with private entrance. Beautiful backyard has a deck, fire-pit, hammock, outdoor shower and hot tub in garden surrounded by palms and tropical plants.

The space
We fell in love with this neighborhood when we first visited in 2012 and then purchased and renovated this wonderful 1894 folk Victorian duplex in St. Augustine's Lincolnville neighborhood! We are happy to offer this large duplex apartment to guests who want to stay in an authentic, historic, St. Augustine neighborhood close to the downtown center. Our neighborhood is beautiful and safe, and our gated back yard opens to a park with a small playground, community garden, a swimming pool (open during the summer), fields and several majestic live oak trees that are several hundred years old. This is a wonderful, clean and comfortable vacation house perfect for a family, one or two couples, or a small group of friends who want to enjoy the comforts of home while exploring St. Augustine. We provide bath towels, hot tub towels, linens, shampoo, body wash, coffee, tea, cream and condiments to our welcome guests. An ironing board, iron and blow dryer are available for guests to use as well (many of our guests are visiting town to attend weddings). Guests park in a driveway next to the house which accommodates at least two cars. Two bicycles are also available to guests to use whenever they'd like.

Guest access
The upstairs and downstairs space, yard and hot tub are exclusively reserved for guests throughout their stay.

Other things to note
The duplex has all of the amenities you would expect in a home. Guests use the fully appointed kitchen (electric stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, refrigerator, cups, glasses, bowls, plates and utensils) and washer/dryer. Outside deck off-of dining room has patio table and chairs, umbrella, and a chaise lounge. Back yard has two chase-lounges, two adirondack chairs, a two-person hammock, a fire-pit, an outdoor shower (hot and cold water), and a well maintained hot-tub. (Guests love the hot-tub!) Two beach cruiser bicycles are available for guests to use freely (lock and helmets provided). It is a lovely, short bike-ride to the heart of downtown and we highly recommend walking or biking to downtown both day and night.

Location

Saint Augustine, Florida, United States

This house is located in the historic Lincolnville neighborhood of St. Augustine, which is believed to have more Victorian houses than any other neighborhood in Florida. According to a local historian, this house was built around 1894 on the grounds of an orange plantation. In the early 20th century it was the residence of Reverend Peter William Cassey, who was the rector of historic St. Cyprians Episcopal Church (located a short walk away). Rev. Cassey was a pioneering educator and civil rights activist. The house is located on the south end of Lincolnville and is bordered by a beautiful park with oak trees dating back to the 18th century. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day guests may use the public pool at the Galimore Community Center (nominal fee) located behind the house (accessed through a gate in the back fence). This is a quaint and historic neighborhood. Horse-drawn carriages pass in front of the house each afternoon on their way to the city center, and pass again in the evening returning from a hard day's work. Spanish moss hangs from the branches of many of the trees lining the streets that lead to downtown. It is a wonderful neighborhood to live in or to visit. Walk along the boat yards on Riberia Street bordering the San Sebastian river, stroll along the beautiful marsh on Washington street near Lions View mansion (two blocks away), or walk or bike to the Blue Hen for a gourmet brunch or mimosa. This neighborhood is a treasure and you will love exploring it and being so close to downtown! Anastasia State Park Beach is only a twelve minute drive away through local streets and across Lions Bridge (park pass provided!). Anastasia State Park has a beautiful expansive ocean beach and a protected inlet perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding or windsurfing. You can rent kayaks and small sailboats inside the park. Surfboards can be rented inside the park or at a surf shop just outside the park.

We are semi-retired college professors who love living in St. Augustine. We can't live without the beach, which is a short, scenic car-ride away (12 minutes on local streets and over historic Lions Bridge). We enjoy hosting Airbnb guests in our spacious historic duplex and sharing our local knowledge with our guests.
