About this listing

The apartment is located in a nice, quiet, family-oriented part of east Berlin. Many people choose to go straight into the city from here, which isn't far. However, on the other side of the neighborhood there is the Rummelsburger Bay, for nice walks.

The Space

Hi there,

My name is Bianca I am originally from the States, but have now made my home here in Berlin. The apartment for rent is my personal apartment. The bedroom you will use will be my bedroom (cleared of personal belongings, of course) and there is a second bedroom as well in case you should want to use it.

The location of the apartment is on the border between Friedrichshain and Lichtenberg in Berlin. Friedrichshain over the past few years has become "the" hotspot for night life, shopping and the cultural/art scene here in Berlin. Friedrichshain offers something for everyone: shopping, tourist attractions, great connections to anywhere in the city, nightlife, restaurants, art and creativity and among the locals is considered one of the best neighborhoods.

The Berlin Wall - East Side Gallery- is only 2 stations by Sbahn (approx. 5 min) from the apartment. Near the wall are many other galleries, underground shops, and other shopping areas. Also, in that same vicinity you can see the famous Oberbaum Brücke, the Spree river, Görlitzer Park, Treptower Park with the Soviet Memorial and many other attractions.

The apartment itself is quite big. It consists of 3 rooms: a living room, the bedroom and a spare room. There is a small kitchen and a large bathroom as well. Unfortunately there is no washer. However, I will be happy to have you use my washer upstairs if I am home, or you can go to the local laundry-mat in the neighborhood. You are more than welcome to help yourself to anything in the apartment, I just ask that you return everything to its location. What is really important to me is that my guests feel at home.

The spare room (the smaller of the two) faces the back courtyard, which will allow you much privacy. There is a sofa bed that can fit 2 people. But I can also offer you a mattress if you prefer two separate sleeping surfaces, in case this room is used as well. In the room you also have a large closet. On one side I keep some old things of mine, but the other side you can use for your stay.

Your bedroom faces the front of the apartment overlooking the Square. The room is larger than the spare, and therefore should be a better sleeping area for you.

Internet is included and the passcode is in the living room near the TV.

I don't keep a lot of food in the apartment for when I travel, but whatever is there, please help yourself - there is always tea and coffee and some snacks in the pantry.

If I am traveling and you arrive during that time, I have a friend and neighbor, Susanna, who will be happy to exchange the keys with you, let you in and take care of your needs should you have any. She lives in the same building upstairs with her partner and young child.

I would be happy to give you tons of advice on places to go and things to see if I am home. If not there is a stack of tour books and guides that you are welcome to take. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me and I will get back to you. Safe travels!

Interaction with Guests

If I am at home, I am easily reached through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). If I am not at home, Susanna from upstairs will tend to your needs - also accessible through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN).

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is quiet and safe, with lots of families and younger people. There are lots of small cafés, shops and parks around. The Bay is just across the way (about 10 minute walk) and access to the city is fast and easy (10 minutes from the apt door to city center with the Sbahn). I just ask that you let down the blinds in the apartment before you leave it, just to be safe.

Besides me, the building has 3 families with children, and two young couples living in it. It's a quiet building except when everyone in the house gets together in the courtyard for a summer grill.

Getting Around

Sbahn (Nöldnerplatz S5, S7, S75) is located 2-5 minutes walking from the apartment. The Sbahn (Rummelsburg S3) is also only 2-5 minutes walk. Should you want to get to Ostkreuz directly from the apartment you can also walk there - it's approx. a 10 minute walk.
