You will be staying in a nice, peaceful decorated room, facing the east. From your room you will have a nice view of the Rembrandtpark and Amsterdam. You will have a lot of privacy since you don’t have to cross my share of the apartment.

The Space

The bedroom is fully decorated with a double bed (1.40 by 2.00 meters), a couch, small table, TV, an alarm clock and candles and candy to make you feel at home. Also you will find some useful information like city maps, (website hidden) hidden) and a Lonely Planet guide. Sheets, towels and a hairdryer are provided.

The second (breakfast) room features a table with two chairs, a refrigerator, two closets, coffee and tea facilities, standard tableware and a radio with usb-drive. You can use the oven and microwave, which are located just outside the kitchen in the hallway. I will also provide umbrellas, because, let’s face it.. you are in Holland! Some drinks and food, including breakfast utilities such as bread and Dutch cheese, are provided for the first day.

We only share the toilet and the bathroom, which features a shower, sink and a washing machine. Simple but clean!

Guest Access

Guest will have their own room with access to another room to sit, work, have breakfast or have dinner, more or less a kitchenette without a sink :) We share the toilet and bathroom. Kitchen can be used on request between 8 till 22 o'clock during the week, in the weekend 10 till 24 o'clock.

The Neighborhood

The location of the apartment offers a nice retreat from the crowds and busy streets of the city centre, but at the same time you can visit the vibrant city centre whenever you want.

Getting around

The distance to and from the centre is about 15 to 25 minutes by bike or public transport (walking would take you about 45 minutes). The supermarket and closest shops are 5 minutes away, including a bike rental shop where you can rent a bike for € 10,- a day.

It will take you 7 minutes to get to Schiphol airport by train from Station Lelylaan, which is close to my apartment (you can walk or take a bus).

Other Things to Note

If you are interested in renting this private room in my apartment, please update your AirBNB profile (picture and description) or send me a message with some information about yourself and please read the information below. I am looking forward to meeting you!

Don’t forget: I am able to give you great, unique tours of Amsterdam as well! Please ask me if you’d like more information. The tours are not free but they are cheap! I also can provide (typically Dutch) dinners on request.

  • Marius was a sweet and helpful host. I just stood at his place for 4 days and felt like home. The room has a wonderful space and the view is relaxing itself. He provided everything my friend and I needed besides telling us more about the city, helping with practical issues such as transportation and we even got to taste an authentic dutch dinner he cooked himself!
If you're looking for a place in Amsterdam that you can also relax, this is it! ;)

  • Marius is over the top fabulous!! His apartment is immaculately clean and comfortable. It really is like a hotel room! He is a fun, gracious, helpful, respectful, generous and kind host! His place is close to a beautiful park with a running trail and exercise equipment in the park. It is not centrally located, but the public transportation is close, quick and reliable to the city....late nights things are slower but still accessible with the night bus. It is only a couple of stops from the airport so getting to the airport from his place is a breeze. I would definitely recommend staying with Marius for comfort, security, assistance and peace of mind while in Amsterdam....especially if it is your first time!!

  • Marius was a very kind host! He met me from the station and made sure I was comfortable and happy the whole time I was there. I would definitely recommend his place as an excellent place to stay in Amsterdam. Thank you Marius!

  • We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Amsterdam and with such a helpful and knowledgeable host as Marius. The previous review says it all in terms of the room and amenities being precisely as described on airbnb, a reasonable distance from the city centre and peaceful location of apartment building next to a large park - the view from the room is amazing. To top off our trip, Marius took us on a walking tour including ferry ride to the old shipbuilding yards, finishing off the day with a perfect Dutch dinner. We highly recommend a stay at Marius's place.

  • I stayed in the apartment on July 2013 for 4 nights.
Marius was really nice & helpful.
The apartment was amazing, everything is new & clean (clean like in an hotel, really... the bathroom walls were "shining" ;-)).
The room was great and has a lot of space & beautiful view. ;-)
It was amazing to get out from the building to the Rembrandtpark every morning, Beautiful location.
As a woman that stayed there alone I can say that it can be a little bit scary at night, to walk from the tram stop- it's better to do it before it's getting dark (before 22:00, 10 PM in the Netherlands on July), in the light hours it's great & safe. lovely place, really. It's not near the center but from the tram it's only 8 minutes walk.

  • Staying at Marius´s was my first ever AIRBNB experience and it was great. The place is neat!. It has a comfortable bed. The view from the room is also nice. The dinning space is good you have a fridge for your food (Marius welcomes you with a very tasty cheese and bread) as well as a kitchen cabinet to store more food. You can also use microwave/oven and a toaster.

The shower and toilet are also super neat. Water runs without any problems. And you may also do some washing at no extra cost (a big plus for me as during my trip I needed the washing).

Marius has very helpful with tips and sightseeing, and always asking if everything was fine and making sure the stay was smooth and enjoyable. He is a very kind person and he actually worries about his guests.

The location of the flat is in a quiet neighborhood, next to a nice park. It is linked to tram, bus and close to a train stop, so a trip to the center will be 15 minutes tops. If you are the walking type then you will enjoy the views (parks, different canals, some shops) while you get to your destination and it´s around 30 - 40 minutes walk. I recommend the Amsterdam way: rent a bike a stroll!

I do recommend staying at Marius place.

  • I only stayed for a very short time (a quick overnight to make an early flight the next morning), but I must say that Marius was an excellent host. He clearly has a lot of experience hosting and had already prepared things like maps and information about the area. The room was excellent and was away from his area of the apartment, which I thought was nice. All around I had a good experience and I would definitely recommend his place to anyone I know who needs somewhere to stay in Amsterdam.

  • We had a great experience staying airbnb with Marius.
Just like others' review about Marius' apartment, the entire room is big and clean (just like the photos) , with a great view to the park. The place is within walking distance from bus, tram and train station so it was easy for us to go to either central area or airport. Marius prepared all the maps for us to use during the day and travel guide books for us to read and research at night. He also tried to find time to talk to us everyday and recommended us nice eating, sightseeing places and shared with us whatever he knows about Amsterdam. We really enjoyed talking with him.
I highly recommend staying with Marius to all fellow travelers!!!

  • This was the first time I used AirBnB and it was an excellent experience.
Marius was a very welcoming host and an interesting guy, with the flat really pleasant and clean and the room larger than you'd expect. Also, you have access to a mini-kitchen, with great views of the park.
The location is very good - just on the edge of the Rembrandtpark, a short metro or tram ride to the centre, with several buses on the street. If you're out later than midnight, it's 10-15 euros from the centre depending on where you are.
Like Marius said in his review of me, I would have liked to socialise more but as it happened I was swallowed up by work (was covering the Europa League final) so was getting home at 2am each night. Which was a shame.
I can highly recommend staying with Marius!

  • We stayed over at Marius' apartment over 4 days in early May 2013, and enjoyed the stay throughout!

As it was our first time booking our accomodation via Airbnb, we were hesitant about the experience of renting a place to stay, but Marius proved us wrong!

Before the trip, Marius was both hospitable and professional, sending through all the useful information we could get (directions, maps, tips etc)

Upon check in, we found the apartment really organized, clean and cozy (the pictures could be understated!), and it was located in a very peaceful and safe neighbourhood with a splendid view of the park from the bedroom.

We also had access to the "pantry" next door and Marius was kind enough to help us wash/clean the dishes. Marius is a sensitive host who knows how to provide privacy to his guests.

In terms of location, although it was about 20-30mins away from Amsterdam Centraal, transportation in Amsterdam was easy to navigate and both bus/tram passed by the apartment anyway, which was a bonus.

Marius would check on us daily to see how were things and he was most helpful and friendly to give us tips on restaurants to eat, places to visit etc

Thumbs up to Marius on his kind hospitality, we would definitely recommend to book a stay at his apartment!

(P/S: Marius, i wished we had bought more stroopwafels home, and we're missing all the cheese!)

I am a 36 year-old male. I have been living and working in Amsterdam for 5 years. Originally I am from Groningen, a city in the north of the Netherlands. I consider myself to be a social, friendly, helpful, patient and calm person. I enjoy watching movies, going out and visiting museums and cultural events. I like to travel, to visit other cities and, of course, to meet new people. I have been to Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Germany, Poland, England, France, Spain and Denmark for both holidays and work. I live in a nice apartment just outside the centre of Amsterdam, the perfect spot to explore the city. I look forward to welcoming you in the beautiful and vibrant capital of Holland! During the last two years I have met many interesting, funny, surprising, kind and polite people from all over the world. Being their host during their stay in Holland has been a great pleasure, which is why now I am also a non-standard tour guide and a ‘cook’ of typically Dutch dinners for whoever likes to have a taste.
