Come stay with us in a real New Orleans neighborhood. We are a married couple that love the Bywater and love to show it off. Be our guests in our charming mid-century home.
You get a fully furnished side of our double shotgun house. There is also a porch swing and bistro table to people watch. Inside is 800 sq ft of newly remodeled, bright rooms for up to six people. There are two bedrooms with real queen beds and comforters, pillows, and linens. This is a shotgun house, for those that aren't familiar, one room leads to another as you go to the rear of the house, with the rear bedroom being totally private. The house comes completely furnished with kitchenware, towels, coffee-maker, microwave, wi-fi, fold-out full futon, and even laundry facilities in our backyard.
In the neighborhood, we're a half block from da Joint bbq, Jimmy's Grocery and 1-3 blocks from local bars; J&J's Sports Lounge, Vaughans, and BJ's. There is live music, art galleries, more bars, coffee shops and restaurants, all with a local feel within the bywater/marigny area leading to the French Quarter. You're still 10 minutes bike ride from the quarter, 5 min in car, 1 block from bus and 35 min walk.
We live right next door and both work in the quarter, so we're always around to help and can give you many more suggestions, both locally and tourist oriented. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
Sorry but we do not book guests more than 5 months in advance.
**Please be advised*** We require a 4 night minimum stay for both Jazz Fest weekends -Thanks!

The house was delightful, very nicely decorated, and every amenity was there. We loved the front porch where we spent some time every day and met the local people. Great little corner grocery store and fantastic Smoked Ribs, both only a 1/2 block away and enjoyed the Wine and Cheese Restaurant with live music that was two blocks away. The bus stop to go to the French Quarter is only 1 block away so easy access.
It was our first visit to NOLA. The place was spot on location wise and was perfect for 6 of us which included kids. The kitchen was very well stocked with pots and pans and the neighborhood was very charming.Steve and Carmen were perfect hosts-welcomed us and were not at all intrusive. Overall our first visit to NOLA was very great!
Really enjoyed Bywater Treasure. A real "Home from Home". Crisps, coffee, milk etc. laid on. Portable heaters for each room, which we needed when we were there. Can't comment on the air conditioning, as we never used it. Plenty towels, good bed and large TV. Friendly area. Jimmy's Grocery, 50 mtrs. away. The Joint, for a great BBQ and cheap beer, is just round the corner, next to the bus stop. The No. 5 bus takes you right to Canal St. and is only 40cents for over 65yrs, with a free transfer to other buses or trolley cars which lasts for 2 hours and can be used several times in that 2 hours.
Carmen and Steve's house was great for our stay! It was clean and spacious for my five person party. It was also pretty close to French Quarter but it is located in Bywater, which is a very interesting neighborhood full of character. I'm glad we opted for this house instead of staying somewhere else. As everyone else mentioned, they also stock the pantry full of Zapp's chips. This seems like a small thing, but it honestly made the stay that much better since they were thoughtful enough to provide us with snacks. I would definitely stay here again!
We loved staying here - great hosts, great area, beautiful house that we didn't want to leave. Hope to return one day. Thanks to Steve and Carmen.
Great stay and good value for money!! Nice walk into the french quarter and completely safe area.
Carmen and Steve were great hosts. They were available when needed without being intrusive. The house was perfect for people who want to relax. It would even be great for a group of people since it has multiple rooms with doors and a good sized kitchen with all the amenities you would need. If you don't want the craziness of the French Quarter and you want a great prices you should stay here. Everything is super close, we could have even walked to the French Quarter but since it was our first time we weren't totally sure. The area of Bywater has it's own little charm and nightlife that is honestly more fun and laif back than the touristy parts. We will definitely be back and hopefully with friends!
We were a group of 7 that stayed in this cute little home during the Mardi Gras week, and we all loved it. Carmen and Steve were kind enough to provide everything needed. These our some of our thoughts as a group.
"Cozy little place in a cool neibourhood off the beaten path. Easy access to downtown and a quiet place to sleep."
"Clean, quaint, and charming. The perfect escape from the madness of Bourbon Street."
"It will feel like home. Many smiles await you"
All in all in was a great place and all 7 of us had an awesome time. Highly recommend!
The Bywater where the Treasure lies is the secret ingredient. If one wants a sanitized, disneyfied, cloned and perfect vacation - go stay at some behemoth near the French Quarter. If you want to wander streets or sit on a porch and be part of the imperfect, fascinating and colorful world of New Orleans - then stay at Carmen and Steve's aptly named shotgun down on France Street. The house was PERFECT for five of us. Everything was as advertised, only better.
Carmen and Steve have a great place. It has a funky, cool vibe that oozes New Orleans. The apartment is very spacious and well stocked with snacks (we are now addicted to Zapp's chips). As hosts they were prompt and friendly without being intrusive. The apartment is located near some of the best that New Orleans has to offer - and for that it is incredibly affordable. We would stay here again.
