The Space

Verdealloggio is a typical early nineteenth century farmhouse overlooking the stunning Tevere valley.
Set in six hectares of grounds with views over surrounding hills, Verdealloggio is, above all, a place to relax and unwind. Yet, it's only 8 minutes walk to the small town Giove with its Castle and charming Medieval village.

The farmhouse has been converted into two double bedrooms apartments for four people each, and they retain the original architectural style and taste in furnishing. Each apartment has its own large outdoor area with a portico and a panoramic patio.

The private and panoramic swimming pool is only meters from the property and it's for the exclusive use of our guests. Children can enjoy the pool and play in the large private garden surrounding the farmhouse.
The swimming poos is 4 meters wide, 11 meters long and 1.25 deep. (Opens from June to September)
Two mountain-bikes, a children swing and a table tennis table are are also available for our guests.
Nearby, there are two riding-stables if guests wish to go horse riding.

Located 800 metres from the village of Giove with its historic centre and imposing ducal castle, Verdealloggio is an ideal base to visit the many places of historic and artistic interest in Umbria, Lazio and Tuscany.
In Giove there are food shops including a supermarket that offer a wide variety of local products. There is also a Pharmacy, Bank, butchers, bakery, bars as well as a restaurant with which Verdealloggio has a special arrangement for serving meals to its holiday guests.

The holiday house is located in a strategic position between Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany giving a wide choice of different itineraries, from history cities (Rome, Florence etc), lakes (Bracciano, Trasimeno etc), natural protected areas, and the sea coast which is only an hour and half away. Rome-Florence highway and train station are only 10 minutes away by car.

At the property you will find:

- Outdoor washer machine
- Barbecue
- 2 mountain bikes
- Fully equipped kitchens with toasters and small ovens.

  • Thank you so much for a lovely stay! We were very well looked after by Michele and his family. We were welcomed with wine and a delicious bread salad that was such a nice touch after a long travel day. The house worked well for the group we had, 5 adults and 3 children. Even though the 2 sections of the house are not (website hidden)ternally (the stair case is external), this was no problem at all travelling with family and taking the whole house. It was quite useful having 2 kitchens! The house was simple but had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The kids loved playing on the swings and using the table tennis table. It was great having Marco and Ornella on-site to assist with our plans and were very helpful. Ornella even took us wine tasting at a local vineyard which was great. The house is a very straight forward drive from Rome and was a good location to visit many small towns in southern Umbria. Some of the larger towns (eg Assisi, Perugia) were a little bit too far away for us travelling with small children but there was plenty to see closer to the house regardless. Our favourites were Orvieto and Spoleto. The little town of Giove (walkable from the house - but a steep walk!) had a lovely kiosk/bar serving drinks, snacks and pizza with the most amazing panoramic view over the (email hidden) for a drink, gelato and soaking up the view. There is a good supermarket in Giove (coop) which was easy to find. The pool was lovely to sit by as the kids played and the house has lovely views from its lofty position. A wonderful trip, thank you!

  • We were a group of 7 and we enjoyed the stay a lot, even though the weather was quite cold in the beginning (italian houses have no insulation).

The garden is beautiful,- we loved to sit outside in the sun- we had a nice barbeque in the evening.
And at one time we got visited by a wild pig,- but Marco knew it already- and it was quite cute.
Giove is pretty close and you can eat nice gelati, drink good caffé and go to a pub for limoncelli....

Marco and Ornella make delicious honey! I also love the handmade hand-cream.
They welcomed us with a strawberry-tarte- bellissimo!

All in all- the vacation was great.
Surrounding is so rich of culture and nature!
Easter is probably a bit to early- i can imagine that it is perfect from june on!

PS: We hope that Ornella is feeling better now- all the best for her!

    Lovely greetings from Graz

  • We had a wonderful holiday. The pool was so nice! The view is extraordinarely. The stars at night are so bright!! The host and hostess are the sweetest people in Italy! The area is so beautiful; great for long walks. Great to be so close to Rome as well! The wine tasting was fantastic! We learned a lot from Ornella about the local cooking.
    So all in all; go!!

  • We had a fantastic week in Giove. The family made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed the wonderful terasse with the great view of the valley and Giove, the swimming pool and lovely home made cake. At our request our hosts arranged a visit to a cantina (Sandonna) where we were welcomed by (also) very kind people with a real passion for wine making. We tasted some fantastic wines accompanied by lovely bruschetta. Since this was our first Umbria experience, it was so good that we do want to come back.

  • Great location, wonderful house!

We were two families (with four kids from 5-16 years) traveling together, and stayed for one week in this beautiful house.

We had a wonderful time. The view from the garden and terrace is absolutely amazing and with the private pool just next to the house, we enjoyed both being at the house as well as taking trips to near-by attractions, like a shopping trip to Rome as well as a visit to the Marmore Falls, which was great for both kids and adults.

The host family was so helpful and friendly, and we felt very welcome throughout our stay. The mother of the house even baked us a wonderful cake! :)

Even though the host family lives relatively close to the house, they respected our privacy, and we didn't see much of them during our stay.

The village of Giove is just up the hill from the house. Here, you will find a small, but well-stocked supermarket and at least one good restaurant (we didn't try other than the one!).

We can recommend this house in Giove to anyone who likes the authentic Italy, and whether traveling with kids or not, this house is ideal for a completely relaxing and easy holiday.

In our family, we always have our (email hidden) every year, but we would actually consider going back here, as this was just the perfect holiday home for us.

5 stars to this pearl of a holiday home!

    Insider's tips:
For the cooler option, choose the downstairs flat, as the top one is much warmer. The downstairs flat also has the nicest garden and terrace. For us, this was not so relevant, as we had all our meals together, but if you only rent half the house, you should consider which half.

If you like to cook: Bring your own knifes.

  • The house and area were way better than we ever expected. The family are wonderful, the house is great, the pool and the view from it is insane. Plus the little village is like something from a story book and when we asked the police for directions they actually drove us to the house.

  • What an amazing place. The farmhouse was perfect for our family of four. Our girls loved the pool, the cats and the view. Our hosts were fantastic and the historic town is very cute. We used Giove as a base to explore Todi, Narni and Orvieto and they wee all close. The private pool was great as the weather was hot. We had a great time and were treated well.
