Secluded villa with stunning views on the Tiber Valley, only an hour from Rome. Ideal base for day trips to many places of historic and artistic interest in Umbria, Lazio and Tuscany. Private pool, only 10 mins walk to village, shops and restaurants

The space

Verdealloggio is a beautiful, early nineteenth-century farmhouse overlooking the stunning Tevere valley.

Set in six hectares of grounds with views over the surrounding hills, Verdealloggio is, above all, a place to relax and unwind. Yet, it's only an eight-minute walk to Giove, with its ducal castle and charming medieval village.

The farmhouse has been converted into two double-bedroom apartments, each retaining the original architectural style and taste in furnishing. The apartments also have their own large outdoor area, with a portico and panoramic patio from which to enjoy the stunning scenery.

A swimming pool for the exclusive use of guests is metres away from the farmhouse (open June to September). Children can enjoy the pool or play in a large and safe private garden. There are also two mountain bikes, children’s swing and table tennis table for you to use. Nearby, are riding stables, if you wish to go horse-riding (10-15 minutes driving).

We had a brilliant holiday & were looked after us really well. The house is next to the home of Michele's parents Marco & Ornella. This means that they are right there if you need them, but they allowed us our privacy & we felt we had our space. The house is nice. The downstairs is much cooler than the upstairs, but the upstairs has a bigger living space. It's a shame that there's no internal stairs, but it wasn't a problem. We we're brought a delicious cake by Ornella & a selection of tomatoes & vegetables from the garden by Michele's sister - just like in the photos! The zucchini was especially tasty. The only thing that was a little bit annoying were the bees. Marco & Ornella make honey & although the bees are apparently far from the house, there were quite a few buzzing around, especially in the morning. It made it a little difficult to eat breakfast outside as our children were constantly waving them away. There were also quite a few around the pool in the morning. Having said that, they did seem to mostly disappear in the afternoons & nobody got stung at all & it was made up for with the jar of honey that we were given! All in all we really enjoyed our stay & didn't want to come home!

We had a wonderfull holiday in the house of Michele in Giove. We had a warm welcome from his father Marco and sister. We stayed with two families in both apartments and had the pool to ourselves. The kids (12-14yr) could have stayed there all day, but were happy to come along to Orvieto for a day, to see the sunset and have an icecream at the terrace of Giove, go to Rome by train for a day (bit too hot), and preferred the Lago Bolsena over the beach. The first time we went to the Bolsena village and came back to Capodimonte and had a super lunch at the Pirate restaurant at Marta. Michele's family is very nice and helpful. Marco speaks good English which is helpful because our Italian is not up to date. Plenty of clean towels and sheets. Great homemade cake (thank you!!) Pool is private and very well taken care of; gets cleaned everyday.

Absolutely lovely rustic farm house located in the equally charming town of Giove. The place exceeded our expectations with views over the valley that are not fully captured in the photos. The place is owned by Michele's parents who were very helpful and kind, providing us with delicious home-grown produce and showing us some local vineyards upon request. The pool was perfect for cool afternoon dips and surrounded by chairs/sun-loungers. The town of Giove surprised us, providing all one could want in terms of supermarkets, bars and necessities. Our group of 8 found the perfect sunset spot at the local terrace bar just a 5 minute walk from the house. We hired two cars that were great in terms of providing flexibility but also handy to have in such a hilly area. We did two day-trips to Rome, which took about an hour and a half by car but you can also take the train from Attigliano - just a 5-10 minute car journey from the house - that takes 58 minutes and costs roughly £5 each way. Overall we had a wonderful stay here and would definitely recommend it!

I'm a graphic designer living and working in London. I come from Giove, a picturesque village in Umbria - Italy, where my family has a beautifully country villa which I help them to rent.
My parents are into organic farming, natural food, arts, music (my dad is a painter and musician) and of course looking after our guests.
I love photography, amazing food, any visual arts, music and traveling the world.
