The Space

A cute house in the heart of the historic quartier of São Bento, just across the Parliament building in Lisbon.

This independent house has one bedroom and two levels in a very peaceful pedestrian street although being 1 minute walk away of everything at any time.
The apartment was rehabilitated and decorated in a “shabby-chic” style for the comfort of your stay. Has one double bed sofa in the living room and a double bed in the bedroom on the top floor.
Fully equipped and furnished in a very cosy way. Guests are provided with bedding, towels, high speed wireless internet, TV with international channels, iron and a kitchenette (stove; fridge; microwave; toaster) where you can find all the kitchenware that you need to have a full meal. An hairdryer can be provided upon request.

Books from different languages are provided in a bring a book, take a book experience. Some worldwide known board games are available too to pass your time in case of an extreme "boring" emergency :)

I live, just like my brother and my mum, in the same street so we will be glad to assist you at any time with anything that you need. We live in a typical Lisbon neighborhood in a very friendly and safe location, highly regarded by the locals and central to most touristy hot spots in Lisbon.

Our location is perfect for both night and daytime expeditions! Just 5 min walk away of Bairro Alto nightlife but you will sleep in a completely quiet area. You will find being within a stone's throw away of supermarket´s; restaurants; coffee houses; Nannarella ice-cream shop (best in town); the Portuguese Parliament; the house where the famous fado singer (Amalia Rodrigues) use to live; and one of the most kept secrets in town, “Praça das Flores”, a charmful and cosy public garden where you can relax and watch the locals and their daily serenity when the day starts to end.

Taking tram number 28 will be an once in a lifetime experience and you´ll find a stop within 2 min walking distance. Other nearby public transportation includes the green, blue and yellow metro lines (Rato or Cais do Sodré stations) as well as 3 bus lines able to connect you to anywhere in the city.

Beside that we hand wrote all our local tips in a book that you´ll find in the flat, furthermore we invited all our guests to share their tips too in it for all of you get the most of Lisbon.
Upon arrival you will be presented with our handmade cinnamon liqueur and a local map for you to get around as a local when finding the supermarket, pharmacy or cash machine nearby.

Check in/out time can be flexible depending on our availability such like leaving your bags before/after checking in/out. We can also pick you up and leave you at the airport at a special price.

Me and my family will be happy to advise you on restaurants, events, bars and other things to do in the area and in Lisbon in general, and to help you in any way we can. We love our city and truly want that you have a wonderful time in Lisbon.

See you soon!

  • The location of the apartment is really nice and Sofia and Bruno were great hosts and super helpful and welcoming. Thank you!
The apartment is located in convenient distance to Lisbon's top sights and you can take buses or trams to get there. While being quite central, the area is very quiet and gives you a nice idea of Lisbon apart from the touristic hotspots. Just stroll down the streets, walk along the alleys and enjoy the sweet scent of the Jacaranda trees, while having a coffee and pastel de nata or a beer or wine in the evening. We simply loved Lisbon!

The bed in the loft is comfortable and the loft really offers you everything you need. Please note: As it is on the ground floor, you cannot leave the window open when you are out or asleep, which I personally regretted a bit.

For a pleasant stay in Lisbon, I can recommend it.

  • Sofia (email hidden)! She is always quick to answer your emails and when I had trouble figuring out how the stove works she sent over her nice brother to fix it within 2 minutes of me emailing her! The flat itself is great, very good location and a very cute eclectic feel on the inside. The only downside to this flat is it has a sewage-like smell resonating in it and the bathroom itself is very tiny (you have to turn your knees to the side when sitting on the toilet so you don't hit the wall). Lisboa is a great city, so you will be out exploring most of the time so these negatives won't be a big issue! Thanks, Sofia for (email hidden)!

  • Sofia & Bruno were really wonderful hosts!
The loft is in a fantastic location, very easy to get around by walking or public transportation. Nice places to eat nearby as well.
Inside the loft, there is a proper kitchen with lots of room to cook if you wanted to.
It's very quirky inside, and it's nice and clean.
I slept downstairs on the sofa bed which was very comfortable!

  • We just had a perfect stay in Lisbon, thanks to Sofia and Bruno everything was very smooth and lots of tips and treats along the way.
The flat is just like in the picture and you feel like a real local with a one of a kind apartment.
Highly recommend you stay in one of their flats !!

  • The good thing about this apartment are central located, high speed wifi, immediate reply from hostess.
However, overall speaking, it's far from good. Though the loft locates in central of the town and right before the Portugal Parliament, easy to find and nice to walk around, but when with a luggage, it almost drove me crazy.
The arrangement of the loft itself is ok, but not clear at all. The bathroom... It's not small, it's tiny little. I'm not a big girl, and I can hardly move there. And can you imagine? when you sit on the toilet, you have to hold the lid in case it fall on your back.
As for the hostess, I'm sorry to say she might be the most NOT friendly people I met during the trip. Welcome introduction, welcome drinks?! None of a bit.

    Response from Sofia:

Never got such an incoherent review :)

Ning´s problem was her lack of communication with her host although all being said and written to her in due time regarding her luggage... even so, she wake me up and called me before 7AM.

She took advantage and got inside the loft without any permission from me taking advantage of an unlocked door. It seems that reviewing house rules with her made me unfriendly, good :)

This spoiled girl was unlucky, the homemade cinnamon liquor made by my sister is again available.

  • The location is perfect, close to everything and you have the tram 28 à few meters from this place. Easy to go from the metro. It is very clean. You must be OK to climb the stairs to go to the bed. The decoration is very nice. We are very happy to have chosen that flat. Lisbon is a very nice city.

  • We spent 3 days & nights at Sofia's place. Sofia and her family are so friendly and helpful! Everything is prepared by them in order for you to just enjoy this delightful city. The apartment is charming and very well situated, in a real and old "lisboan" (and hilly!) neighborhood. Restaurants, bakeries, bars, everything you may need, and the famous L28E tram is down the street!
We do recommend this unusual but yet really clean and cool place for an amazing stay in Lisboa! Thank you Sofia!!!!

  • Hi Sofia,
Thank you for letting us stay in your very cosy and funky flat - we had a great time! Lisbon is a beautiful city and the book in the flat is very helpful.
Sofia's mum also gave us an umbrella one morning as she saw us leaving for the day - and we needed it!!
All in all a fantastic stay in a great central area.
    Thanks Sofia and Family :-)
