About This Listing
Surrounded by 22 acres of rolling pastures with the high peaks as a back drop, you will feel supremely cozy and tucked away under a fluffy down comforter. Une chambre d'hote a la ferme! Les francophones sentiraient bienvenues--nous parlons francais!
A charming little space with a delicious breakfast to boot!
The suite is stocked with a variety of teas & coffee (made with French press), records (both old and new), books, and games. There is an electric kettle for boiling water and a small fridge for keeping foodstuffs. Guests are invited to stroll the pastures and bask on the lawn!
Your reservation includes a French breakfast of fresh-baked bread, butter, jams, fruit, and a sampling of our very own cheeses. Breakfast is served between 8:30 and 9:00 (The rule on the farm is that humans eat only after all of the animals have been fed).
Wireless internet is available on the farm (in the farm store) but not in the room itself.
Guests are invited to explore our 22 acres of pasture and visit with our small herd of Brown Swiss cows. Check out our on-site Farm Store where we sell our cave-aged, farmstead cheeses and raw milk along with fresh products from neighboring farms (yogurt, eggs, meats etc)!
Interaction with Guests
Margot and I live on the property in an old sugar house and are around almost all the time- staying busy with milking, farm chores, cheesemaking, etc. Guests at the Farmhouse Suite can have about as much, or as little, interaction with us as they'd like.
The Farmhouse Suite is ideally situated within minutes from a myriad of hiking trails, a stones throw from the Au Sable River full of swimming holes and epic fly fishing sites, and smack dab in the middle of the most popular Adirondack biking routes. We are:
-5 miles from Whiteface Mt.
-6 miles from Keene
-11 miles from Keene Valley
-14 miles from Lake Placid.
Other Things to Note

The Sugar House Creamery was the perfect place for our romantic weekend getaway. Margot and Alex are passionate about what they do and it shows.
The room was perfectly rustic cute and even prettier than on the pictures. Little touches like the tea corner and the record player with the selection of quirky records made it extra cozy.
The farm grounds are beautiful and I liked that were able to to walk everywhere and go see the animals. Alex even took the time to tell us a little bit about his favorite cows.
The best part was definitely the breakfast!! We had cardamon porridge with all the fixings on the first morning and homemade bread with a selection of their cheese on the second. Honestly, I would go back just for the breakfast. We liked it so much we bought some cheese to bring back home. Thanks again Alex and Margot! We hope to be back some day.
We had a wonderful experience at the Sugar House Creamery. The staff was kind and attentive, the breakfasts were delicious, and the room was clean and comfy. We definitely plan on coming back.
We had a lovely time at Sugar House . Don't miss this place.
Alex and Margot were wonderful hosts. The room was exactly as described - the whole ambiance put is in a deep state of relaxation. The breakfast each morning was divine, and it was so lovely to be so close to the mountains, staying with people who care so much about their craft. Top that off with fresh ground coffee, home made cheeses and breads, warm blankets, reading nooks...I mean, such great value. We'd definitely be back again.
Alex and Margot were AMAZING hosts! Our stay in their Carriage House space was perfection! From the onset, Alex maintained prompt communication with me, answering all of my questions and satisfying my special requests. We were allowed to change the date of our visit, the space we occupied, bring our beloved pet and roam about the farm with Alex and Margot's warm blessings.
My wife and I enjoyed 5 peaceful days at the Sugar House Creamery. The Carriage House was outfitted with a well-equipped kitchen, a warm living/dining space, a record player with a great selection of music, plenty of games and nooks to read or nap in. Our dog enjoyed the space in front of the electric stove. :-)
We drove up to Lake Placid a couple afternoons and managed to explore White Face and the surrounding mountains and quite by accident, we drove through the Saranac Lake Village. Mostly, we found our best moments spent trotting through the snow on the farm or seated in the Carriage House with a cup of cocoa.
Our original stay was for 2 nights and we decided on a whim, to extend the stay to 2 more nights. We plan to visit in the Spring. Alex and Margot are such terrific folks (and not just because we love farmers)!
Thank you for hosting one of the best vacations we've ever had. :-)
Simplicity and serenity are the selling points of Sugar House Creamery’s guest suite. If you’re looking for an escape from your usual bustle, booking this BnB is the way to go. Though terms like ‘cozy,’ quaint,’ and ‘cute’ may be a bit overused for dairy farm bed and breakfast reviews, they’re a perfectly appropriate fit here. The suite has a hospitable hominess to it; you’ll likely notice this the moment you set your bags down and settle into the soft chairs beside the record player. When Margot delivers the delicious, beautiful breakfast in the morning, complete with cheese and milk straight from the farm (seriously, it’s like eating the perfect Instagram foodie photo), you’ll feel like your day is already made. Alex is an endearing, conversational host who is happy to show you around the farm. Whether your stay is under the summer sun or during the blistering cold of winter, Sugar House Creamery has a subtle magic that sticks around in any season.
