I have lived in Iga Ueno for a few years. Growing up in a residential area, living in a castle town was a new experience for me. This land with its old-fashioned townscape and famous water is hot in summer and cold in winter. But that's why the rice, vegetables, and meat are also delicious. There are many areas where nature remains, but few areas where the old townscape remains intact. I want to preserve this townscape. To that end, I want many people to experience a nostalgic way of life and culture. As such a place, we fully renovated an old house left by our ancestors and opened it as a guest house with the name of the defunct soy sauce shop, "Daiji". Please come and stay in our guest house with tatami mat flooring.

Stay in a beautifully renovated traditional Japanese wooden house with tatami flooring and futons, plus modern facilities for self-catering, within easy reach of Kyoto and Osaka airports.

The space
The first floor has a kitchen on the dirt floor as it was in the old days, and there is a bathroom, washroom, toilet, etc.The room on the 1st floor is a 3-tatami Japanese-style room with a dirt floor (with a partition), and behind it is a 6-tatami Japanese-style living room (with an atrium, no partition with the dining room), a 4-tatami dining room with a wooden floor, and a large wooden deck. The second floor has a 6 tatami mat Japanese-style room and a 4 tatami mat wooden floor room, and there is a semi-double bed in the wooden floor room (no room partition). For other guests, we will provide futons. There is a partition such as fusuma, but overall it is an open space, so it is recommended for two people to stay with families and close friends. It has been fully renovated, including earthquake-resistant construction, while retaining the atmosphere of the old. It's a nostalgic house that makes you want to stay for a long time.

Combined with another Daiji row house (up to 4 people), you can stay up to 9 people.

We guide you to various restaurants according to your preferences, such as Iga beef shops and tofu tengaku. There are also take-out and delivery shops (hors d 'oeuvres, sushi, Chinese, etc.).Please also contact us for arrangements.(You can definitely consult with us the day before or during the day)
We can also provide a hot plate that can be used for hot pots. You can also buy Iga beef, pork, chicken, etc. for shabu-shabu at nearby specialty stores.

In the season, you can rent a set of BBQ stoves, tents, tables, etc. for 3,000 yen.(Please book in advance) Iga craft beer (4 liter keg) and bottled beer can also be arranged 🍻
Please let us know at the time of booking.

Guest access
The two rooms, the pantry on the first floor and the closet on the second floor, are private spaces. Everything else is available for your use.

Other things to note
A BBQ stove set, tent, table, etc. can be rented for 3,000 yen.(Please book in advance) Iga craft beer (4 liter keg) and bottled beer can also be arranged 🍻

Iga

From the host

It is a 14-minute walk to Iga Ueno Castle and Ninja Residence, and a short distance away you can enjoy the scenery of rice paddies, hot springs and nature experiences.(車で赤目四十八滝へ45分、やぶっちゃの湯へ13分、モクモクファームへ21分、信楽まで30分)伊賀上野と言えば、忍者、松尾芭蕉誕生の地、伊賀焼、組み紐、そして食では伊賀牛、日本酒、豆腐田楽、かた焼き、丁稚羊羹などが有名ですが、盆地特有の寒暖差と名水により、米、野菜、果物、伊賀茶に和菓子も美味しい。

If you want to experience the real Japan and explore some lesser known cultural monuments and areas of natural beauty, Iga is in a perfect location to reach hot springs, hiking trails and remote temples.

Iga itself is a castle town, famous as the birthplace of the Japan’s most famous Haiku poet, Matsuo Basho and also known as the hometown of the Ninja. Iga is famous for its beef and Sake.
