Don and Karen are amazing hosts and I really appreciate having a home away from Home when I visit my college age kids. I high recommend this location and amenities.
So glad I found Don and Karen's place. I went to UMass in 2007 and it was so nice to be back. Don and Karen's place is centrally located, cozy, and a great value. Don was extremely friendly and showed me photos of his home which was moved with a truck! They even left me banana bread
Great place. Perfect location. Comfy bed. Pleasant kitchen. Kind and friendly folks. All as described. Even when our party size kept changing, and when a dinner we had planned for elsewhere needed to come here, they worked with us. This spot made our weekend work out just right.
Don and Karen were amazing hosts, to say the least. We arrived late because of some traffic, and they were extremely flexible and patient with us. The space was absolutely gorgeous, as was the loaf of banana bread and fruit bowl they left us! If you plan on staying in Amherst, this is the place to go. Thanks Don and Karen!!
We arrived late when Karen and Don were out, but they communicated with us, left the light on and instructions for getting into our accomodations. After a long day of house hunting in the Amherst area, Karen and Don's home was a perfect retreat. We found a bowl of fruit and banana bread waiting, a clear comfortable home, and everything we needed for our weekend visit. Thank you!
The apartment was great! Just as pictured/described. Don was very accommodating for changing our arrival time. The beds were comfy and sheets/towels were nice quality. The banana bread was fab and it was great having some coffee and juice available. I will definitely stay here again for future trips to WMass.
We had come to Amherst for a family funeral. The location was superb for being able to get to relatives and the funeral home. Our hosts were very nice. They left fresh fruit, banana bread, orange juice, fresh ground coffee. The place was clean and had plenty of sleeping space. It snowed twice while we were there and the driveway and walkway were quickly cleared by morning.

My wife Karen (Speech & Language Pathologist) and I love to travel, cook, play music and garden. We live in a great ninety year old colonial that we moved from Amherst and plan to winter at our place on the beautiful island of Vieques in the Carribbean. We love to share our interests and homes in both locations through AirBNB. The Hadley property features a large furnished 2 bedroom walkout garden apartment. The apartment has two separate accesses. Access to the "mango" bedroom is through an amazing shard mosaic greenhouse from gardens on the edge of wetlands....an amazing sanctuary for a variety of birds and other wildlife. The other entrance is directly off the driveway through a mudroom/laundry. The house is a mile as the crow flies from UMASS and two miles to Amherst College in Amherst Center. Hampshire College is just another mile and a half from the center.
Our Vieques property has similar two-bedroom features in Isabella Segunda, the larger of the two small towns on that tropical paradise.
The Hadley property is six miles away from downtown Northampton and Smith College across the scenic Connecticut River surrounded by the Seven Sisters mountain range.
The area has become western New England's destination for arts, culture and entertainment. The Paradise City Arts & Crafts Festival, Green River Music Fest and Morgan Horse Shows supplement nearby country fairs and harvest festivals.
Vieques has the mountains and turquoise beaches on an island that time has forgotten. Our place on the island is only a few blocks from glass beach and five miles from the village of Esperanza. If you like isolation, solitude and wild horses...be sure to visit the link to Colorful, Convenient in the Carib! Now back to to the "Happy Valley".....
Southern Vermont ski areas are less than an hour away. We're two hours from Boston, three from New York and four from Montreal and Quebec.
At times the whole (five bedroom-3.5 baths) may be available during college graduation weekends. Vieques, off the coast of the east end of Puerto Rico, can be reached by a ferry that lands a few blocks from Casita Linda or by one of four small airlines i.e. Cape Air or Vieques Airlink.
