Interaction with Guests
Guests will be served by our hotel staff.
Myself, I work at our back office in the city, I seldom meet the guests in person.
We are located in the South Beach area, which is a public beach, some 12 kms south of the downtown.
We are only 50 meters from the sea, beach facilities include a playground for kids, a snacks' kiosk, shades, toilet and shower.
Coral reefs along the coast line offer some great snorkeling. Recommended for beginners too, as the sites are easily accessible from the shore.
Public buses to South Beach departs from above Aqaba Castle ruins (near the Big Flagpole).
There is no fixed schedule, the buses run during the day in cca. every 30 minutes.
Bus fare is 0.5 JD per person.
Taxi from Aqaba downtown costs around 6-7 JD, from Aqaba Airport or Eilat border the taxi fare is around 25 JD.
Other Things to Note
We are not licensed to sell alcohol so we can not serve it in our restaurant.
Our rooms are non-smoking, so please only smoke in the open areas.
Please make sure the air-conditioner and the lights are switched off every time you leave your room.
Please do not take the towels we provide to the beach.
Pets are welcome, but the owners are responsible for looking after them and making sure they don't bother other guests in the hotel.
I never met Eszter in person, but all the people who worked at the hotel were very nice. The place is far from the center of Aqaba, about a 10-15 minute drive, but very nice and quiet. It has a pool with a beautiful view out onto the beach across the street, so they are close to diving and snorkeling. The food there was delicious. The only thing is they don't take credit cards and don't have an ATM within walking distance, which is a bit of a nuisance and would have been better to know beforehand. The rooms are basic but nice and clean and have good AC.
It's a very nice hostel with a diving/snorkeling shop attached and and a pool - all right next to a Red Sea beach south of Aqaba. We didn't meet Eszter, but her sons were always around to help. The rooms were exactly as described - two beds with an air conditioner, desk, closet, fridge, and private bathroom. A breakfast of pita bread, butter & jam, olives, hummus, and tea was provided every morning. The WiFi was very slow, and only worked if you were very close to the lobby (i.e., it doesn't work in the rooms).
Overall, it was a nice stay for a couple days and I would go back as long as it stays cheaper than other options in Aqaba.
She gave us a nice discount which was helpful. E. was always prompt in her responses and polite. We were a little bit shocked that the concierge asked such personal questions when we checked in. The room was clean. The breakfast was very abundant. The location is great. There is an on site instructor who we did not use but he is very friendly and I would trust him. The sheets were a little weird. But this is a budget accommodation and so for the price, these things must be expected.
Thank you for your review.
I'm sorry about the "personal questions" - I guess he was asking whether you are married etc.
The reason for this is probably because you have an Arabic-sounding family name and it is the law in Jordan that female and male Arab nationals must be married (or be close relatives) to stay in one room.
I apologize for any inconveniences caused by this.
Wishing you a Happy New Year!
Nice place, nice staff. The room corresponded to the description and it was simple but clean and comfortable.
The food is good even if a bit more expensive than in the city.
We enjoyed a lot our stay and the scuba diving we did together with the diving center located into the resort.
The staff at Darna Village was incredibly welcoming and friendly and always available. The pool/seating area was lovely. Unfortunately, the services were just not that great. The room was nice (although the shower didn't drain), but the restaurant was overpriced and pretty mediocre (plus there was no alcohol.)
