The Space

The apartment is located right off of the Leidse Square, in an unexpectedly quiet part of the Lange Leidsedwarsstraat. This apartment is the perfect place to discover all the different sights and attractions Amsterdam has to offer.

Leidse square is one of the funnest centres for nightlife, culture & sightseeing. De Jordaan, a typical Amsterdam neighbourhood, is right around the corner, providing excellent shopping possibilities (the ‘Nine Streets’ of the Jordaan are well known for their wide array of boutique shops) and vast array of great restaurants and bars. The Vondelpark, Amsterdam’s biggest and most centrally located park, is located at less then a five minute walk from the apartment and boasts an oasis of greenness and peacefulness.

The 60m2 double room apartment is on the ground floor of a newish building (built in ’98) and is provided with the following:
-Living room with a couch, a dining table for 4 and a flatscreen television.
-A simple, but fully equipped kitchen (as part of the living room), including a Nespresso coffee machine.
-A separate toilet.
-Bathroom with shower.
-A washing machine.
-Spacious bedroom with double bed
-A sunny garden at the back, incredibly peaceful with sun all day long! Equipped with two chairs and a Weber BBQ.
-Cable TV & Free Wi-Fi, DVD player

The apartment is easy to get to with various forms of public transport going to and from Leidse Square.
From Schiphol:
The easiest way is to take the Bus (line number 197 or 370). They leave regularly from the Bus and Taxi place on Schiphol Plaza and will drop you off on Leidse Square in from of the Apple Store.
From Central Station:
-The tramlines 1,2 & 5 will drop you off on Leidse Square. Don’t forget to get your public transport card! ;)

Since the apartment is so centrally located, it is not ideal to get to by car. Of course you can get there, but parking the car in this area is approximately 4 euros per hour.

Minimum stay of 2 nights during the weekend.

  • It was the perfect place to stay in Amsterdam for me and my boyfriend!
The apartment was nice and clean and had everything you needed - not more, not less. The location is awesome - in walking distance to almost everything, but still in a really quite street, and so easy to get to from the airport! And one of the best things was the small terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee, even when it's raining (that happens pretty often in Holland :)
Dorien is really sweet and helpfull and everything just went easy and without any problems. I can recommend this apartment to all without any crazy luxury standards but with sense for a cozy and relaxing spirit - just perfect for us!

  • Dorien was great she was there to meet us with her 5 month old happy baby and flowers. She gave us a short tour of the cozy apartment and showed us how to use to espresso machine. The apartment was cozy and quiet, so we slept well. The apartment was also very private and clean. It had a hot plate and a microwave so we could cook some things like bacon and eggs for breakfast. It also had a nice little patio in the back which was nice to hang out in when the sun was out. The bathroom was a little different, shower, sink and washing machine all in the room. But maybe that is how the apartments are in Amsterdam due to space restrictions. The apartment was just down the street from Leidseplein square. So it was in a great location, a 5 minute walk to the museums and a 1 minute walk to shopping, but yet so quiet. It was a 3 second walk to Leidsegracht canal, which was nice to sit by and enjoy. The mailbox was just around the corner, for the postcards. The neighborhood was pleasant and also quite, even though there was a night club/bar just down the street. We never heard a thing. There was no parking on the street, but we did not have a car so no worries. The apartment building was also very quiet. The apartment is on the bottom floor but we could not hear people walking upstairs (above our heads) or even entering or exiting the building. The apartment was just as advertised centrally located cozy apartment- good for two people, maybe three at the most. We had a great time staying here and exploring Amsterdam. The tram 1,2 and 5 is just up the street so it made it really easy to get to central station. Thank you Dorien for letting us stay here. We should have spent our last night here. The next place we went to was not that great and we did not sleep as well. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Dorien was a friendly, helpful and communicative host. She was very quick in helping us or answering any queries we had. The neighbourhood was well positioned and the apartment was situated near to a tram stop to easily get around. The apartment was delightful and I would easily recommend Dorien and the accommodation.

A localização do apartamento é excelente.

  • Dorien has a beautiful flat, centrally located near the museum and the restaurants. We really enjoy the few days we spend in Amsterdam and the advices given by Dorien.

  • So, I arranged this airbnb for my aunts, who are in the late 50s (and not so technically adept). They had a two day stopover in Amsterdam and Dorien's place seemed perfect. I asked them what they thought when they came back to Toronto. They told me that Dorien's place was exquisitely located and they could not ask for a better location in the city. They want to go back to Amsterdam for a longer trip! Very easy to get to the airport via public transit too. I gave them (website hidden) map directions before they left.

They were disappointed that the shower was broken when they arrived (which Dorien wasn't aware of). Although Dorien was very responsive and tried to arrange a repair, due to the shortness of their stay they did not want to spend any chunk of time in the apartment waiting for it to be repaired so they preferred to leave it as is and just dealt with it.

They said some small improvements might have made their experience more enjoyable - some strategically placed hooks in the bathroom for towels, hand towels (they said they took dish towels), etc.

I will say their previous airbnb with me was in a luxuriously appointed Brooklyn Heights NYC townhome sublet with ultra plush towels and everything you could have asked for, so I guess that is the level of catering they are used to now :). But you know: caviar taste, hummus budget.

I think overall Dorien's apartment will suit most people and represents extremely good value for location. Bring your own hand towels if necessary!
