Not Just an Apartment:
South America presents a unique set of challenges and when visiting Cusco, high in the Andes mountains, the altitude can further complicate your travels. Our vast experience in assisting our guests from all over the world will help you settle quickly and comfortably.
When travelling South America our guests are pleasantly surprised to discover just how close we are to the city centre (Plaza de Armas) and the level of luxury offered in our fully furnished, boutique apartment. With internet, large screen LCD TV with DVD and Sony Playstation3 with Blue-Ray, filtered water system for drinking, full kitchen facilities and dining table, heating and King size bed with memory foam built-in, you'll sleep well after exploring the ancient surrounds of Cusco.
The apartment is yours to enjoy during your stay but we would appreciate you observing the following:
Our check in time is very flexible, when no guest is due to check out the same day, and should be coordinated prior to your arrival. Checkout is also quite flexible, conditional to any arrivals.
We ask that you please not smoke inside the apartment.
You will be supplied with keys so you can come and go as you please. Lock the door fully (three turns) when leaving the apartment.
Our apartment will accommodate one person or a couple. If you have a baby we can supply a cot; please arrange this with us when making your booking. We can also supply a plastic baby tub for bathing as we have shower facilities only.
Due to safety and security risks we ask that you not bring strangers onto the property.
Sorry but no pets allowed.
To respect the neighbours nearest the apartment please keep the noise down between 10pm and 6am.
We try to keep our environmental impact as low as possible; please remember to turn lights off in areas of the apartment not being utilised and keep the duration of your showers down to a minimum.
Please hang washing on the line outside (2nd patio) or within the tiled shower area and not in the apartment or on the furniture.
We can service the apartment and keep it clean for you at an additional charge. Please make your request at time of booking. Otherwise tidy up after yourself and leave the apartment in the same condition you found it.
Please don't wear outdoor shoes in the apartment. When entering the apartment we prefer you remove your shoes as there is no carpet steam cleaning or other methods of cleaning carpets available in Cusco.
We ask that you respect and care for the apartment and in the event that something gets broken we expect you to replace or fix it.
Please use the WI-FI within moral and legal boundaries.
Water supply to Cusco is shut-off between 1pm and 5pm and then again from 9pm and 4am. We do have a 250 litre water tank to ensure you always have water in the apartment but showering during these times is not always guaranteed due to low water pressure.
Please let us know if there are any maintenance issues that arise during your stay.
Street parking is available in front of the apartment although it’s first in best dressed.
Thank you for washing your dishes and otherwise leaving the apartment as you found it when you check out.
We welcome all law abiding, considerate and maturely behaving adults.
We look forward to making your stay a comfortable and happy one.
Katherine was very helpful and hospitable. The apartment was wonderful, with a great view of the plaza below. The water pressure was great and we never ran out of hot water (a real plus in Cusco). Great experience all around.
One thing worth noting is that amidst the great view are some thick power lines just outside the windows. This is certainly not a deal breaker, as the view is still absolutely amazing, but this is not represented in the photos.
Katherine was wonderful! She met us at the apartment, did last minute cleaning when we arrived, and showed us everything about the apartment. The bed was really comfortable, the area was super quiet (compared to the last place we stayed which was close by), it was just a couple of blocks to Plaza de Armas, and was probably the best sleep we got while in Cusco. And, one of the main reasons that we picked Katherine's place was because she had a washer. The washer worked really well (though it did start to rock and roll a bunch during the spin cycle so we had to sit on it so it wouldn't take off) and saved us from having to worry about the laundry places in town that I heard weren't the reliable. The only thing was that you were supposed to leave the place impeccably clean before you left but the cleaning supplies weren't quite what was needed to do a perfect job. Other than that, would definitely stay here again.
This is a spectacular apartment! It feels like a 5 star room! A marvelous view of Cusco's main plaza, a super comfortable bed, a very accommodating host and easy walking distances to the main plaza.
Katherine was very patient with our flight delays and welcomed us with Coca tea when we got there. Her sweet daughter also made our arrival delightful! She was beautifully furnished the apartment and also has provided all kinds of amenities, including a playstation!
We would highly recommend this space as well as Katherine as a host! This apartment is one of the best Airbnb spaces we have ever stayed in! We wish we had more time to spend in the apartment, as we had to leave early in the morning for our trek!
My wife and I have been using Airbnb extensively with much success on our 2 month long South American adventure, but our luck ran out with Katherine's apartment. 1) we agreed that her driver would pick us up at the airport, yet there was no driver. She stated there was no such flight on record for the flight number I gave her. (I showed her my e ticket). 2) we arrived on our own at the apartment and with help from other people residing there were able to make contact with Katherine who was across town. Total wait approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. 3) we spent the 1st night but were unable to shower in the morning as the on-demand heater does not heat water adequately. 4) we tried to make coffee and fix our own breakfast but the propane ran out. 5) we tried to make contact with Katherine the same morning but the wifi was not working.
We decided we would not stay any longer and took the risk of losing our payment and found a new (non Airbnb) place to stay within a block of Katherines that met our needs.
Warning: though common in South America, there are two 5 gallon propane bottles in the apartment. One for the water heater and one for the stove. Any significant leak, with propane being heavier than air, could be fatal for occupant(s).
The location was fantastic, literally a view stopping spot for locals and travelers overlooking the heart of the old town. Easy ambling distance to great restaurants, shopping and the bohemian quarter (San Blas). The apartment itself was well equipped and bed very comfortable. I didn't spend much time in the room so in hindsight it was probably more money and space than I needed but it's a good option for longer stays where you might want to fix up something simple to eat. One big bummer was there was no water when I came back to the room after dinner. Never made use of the shower, toilet wouldn't even flush. Not sure if this was an anomaly or if there was a cutoff time. Was back on at 6:30 am.
Katherine was a great host. She went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable in Cusco which started when we arrived. We don't speak Spanish very well and there was some miscommunication between the cab driver and us. Katherine was waiting for us and came down from the apartment to help us clear things up. In the end, we had to pay the higher fare, but it was comforting to have Katherine fighting for us.
The apartment itself is spacious and well appointed. The pictures and description are very accurate. The hot water in the bathroom was instant, and the king size bed was great to sleep in after a long day walking around Cusco. Having a washing machine in the unit was also a nice touch.
I would highly recommend Katherine and her apartment to anyone traveling to Cusco. It has a much more authentic feel than a hotel, it's centrally located (steps from the Plaza de Armas - the view from the apartment is great!), and Katherine is a joy to work with.
Thanks again for everything, Katherine!
