Parking is on the street (availability is not a problem), but you can also park in our driveway upon request. We have two Gary Fisher mountain bikes (one women's and one men's), and a few other beater bikes we can get going if needed. We can also point you to fun bike routes.
We are very family friendly. We have a toddler and a baby. You are welcome to use any of our gear, including a pack-n-play, strollers, high chairs, potties, books and toys. If you need any suggestions of things to do with children, please just ask.
We have a home building business focused on building unique single family homes on urban infill lots (Latitude 38). We are very versed in what's going on in the City. Joey is from Charlottesville and Jeff moved here from San Francisco about eight years ago. We love to travel and explore cities. We love to walk and bike, and love where we live because it is so close to everything.
We have a 90lb chocolate lab named Felipe. We also have a big cat named Sammy. We will have them disappear, but we cannot promise you will not find their hair. If you are interested in pet sitting, please let us know!
There is a laundromat two blocks away.
Note: This is our main living quarters, so we only rent it out when we go out of town and has a number of personal artifacts - not a hotel experience!
Interaction with Guests
I communicate a lot via iPhone. We will probably be out of town, but I can put you in touch with someone locally if needed.
The rental is in our home, so we prefer it to stay fairly quiet to respect our neighbors. No raging parties. Guests are fine. We hope you will use our home as your home. Use it, but respect it.
Please put any used towels in a pile in shower.
Let us know if anything does not function or gets broken while you are here.
Stayed here for 3 nights with 8 friends for a guy's get away vacation. The trip couldn't have been more perfect. Joey was a perfect host providing us with everything needed and more. The house slept 8 guys perfectly with plenty of space for a couple more air mattresses if needed. Location was also perfect for walking distance to downtown mall and college area bars. The house is very unique, open space and really made the trip enjoyable. Would book again in a heartbeat.
This is a fantastic house to rent. Our extended family stayed here on UVA graduation weekend, 2013. The proximity to campus is convenient, and it is a quiet neighborhood. The house interior is quite attractive, and the construction finishing details are excellant. It was an extra bonus to stay in a home built by an expert owner- craftsman.
Joey is super organized, and left us thorough written notes on using her home which were appreciated very much. The kitchen-dining area is large enough to feed the extended family, and the stove/pots/dishes are gourmet quality. We saved a ton by avoiding restaurant bills and eating in. This is a turn-key rental experience. I would stay here again, and recommend it to friends.

About the Host, Joey
We are a busy young entrepreneurial family. Joey was born and grew up in Charlottesville, just off of the Downtown Mall. After going to college in the northeast and living in South America, she returned home, where she had various non-profit and real estate jobs, went to grad school, and started a home building business with Jeff. Jeff came to town via Habitat for Humanity from San Francisco. We love to get out there once a year and try to take the train to visit friends in Philadelphia and New York when we can. Charlottesville is awesome, but sometimes you got to get out.
