Situated on the hill behind Leme, Copacabana this family home has 2 Bed and Breakfast bedrooms which share a private WC/Shower room.
Babilonia is a neighbourhood of Copacabana which sits neatly on the hill behind the Leme end of the beach. You can access by taxi, or you can walk there. The area is safe, friendly and open for tourists to explore. Some of the coolest grafitti in Rio can be seen on the walls here.
The small Copacabana community of Babilonia has approx 5000 residents and was "pacified" in 2009. It is now an up an coming neighbourhood in itself. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach from the house. In the neighbourhood there are schools, banks (Bradesco & Itau), shops, bars, hostels, small hotels, and a great community spirit.
This accommodate is perfect for travelers who wish to experience Rio with a real Brazilian family.

We stayed with the Rufino family for three nights. The family was very kind and accommodating. The breakfast was freshly made each morning, and Vera's lemon loafs were absolutely delicious! The house is spacious and clean, with a beautiful view of copacabana and the city, well worth the 15 min uphill climb. Unfortunately our stay at the house was cut short due to some local violence, but even then the family was very helpful and accommodating.
Awesome time at a place that's perfect for a lovely start into the day and a relaxed chillout after the hectic day. Everything was clean & organized, but the best was really the silence & the rooftop terrace! Thiago & his family have been really nice hosts. His lovely mother picked me up at the meeting spot & introduced us to the neighborhood. Thanks!
This is a very nice bed and breakfast in the relatively safe favela Babilonia near Leme and Copacabana beach. The terrace has great views and some hamacas to chill or sleep. Much better views than the expensive hotels at the coast. I had a great stay and the family was very helpfull when needed. Breakfast was served early in the morning but also available if you got out of bed late in the afternoon. I prefered to sleep in the hamaca because the bed was not so well. But to be honest i really like my own bed. Keep up the good work family Thiago
The Air bnb really has an amazing view above copacabana and the Christ. The place is in a favela called Babylonia in leme, it s pacified and under police control 24/7, so it's really safe and we never felt uncomfortable, except when we went out once at night because there are so many dogs there... And two where barking at us and following us for a bit. The guesthouse is up a steep hill, so it's very tiring to get up there, there is a motor taxi stand at the bottom of the hill but we never took one because we were not comfortable with it. As for the lodge: I never met thiago in person, which I found a little unsatisfactory since I booked the apartment through him. We were picked up by his mom Vera who only speaks Portuguese, but we speak a little, so we could manage. The room was ok, but we have to say that the beds were very very hard and nothing like a bed.. And since we stayed for six nights we didn't like that part so much... I really had limb ache each morning! The breakfast is ok and rich and they offer it from 8 - 12 am which is very generous, but we had to figure out ourselves that we had to get all the stuff out of the fridge ourselves and put it back and so on. I just would have wished for more communication. To sum up, Vera is really very nice and helped s out when we had questions about taking buses, although we had a language difficulty. The place is very clean, which I find important. It's very close to the beach and to copacabana and the important bus lines, but you have to consider that it takes about 15 min to get up the hill on foot. We had a good time there!

I am Carioca (someone from Rio) and have lived in this beautiful city all my life. I love to surf, skateboard, have barbecues, play football, socialise with friends, and enjoy the Rio way of life. We look forward to welcoming you to our house here in Copacabana.
