Our home is a 3 bed, one and a half bath, single storey family residence. Guests always sleep well in the comfortable bed.
The house faces the ocean and has wonderful views of the shore and the Courtmacsherry estuary.
We're situated in Harbour View, Kilbrittain, County Cork, Ireland.
The village of Kilbrittain is a couple of miles inland from us: one street, a church, post office, two pubs, petrol station... a typical small Irish village, BUT with some notable differences - for instance, at the bottom of the main street at the entrance to the village park, the skeleton of The *Kilbrittain Whale, is displayed. A massive fin whale, it was beached here on the beach out front of us, in January 2009. *Kilbrittain Castle, just close to the village is a stunning building, and the oldest continually habited castle in Ireland. The village *post office doubles as a delicious deli! and on Thursday to Sunday inclusive - a busy cafe serving breakfast & lunch, hearty portions, reasonable prices & all made on the premises.
Kilbrittain also boasts a beautiful deciduous woods with a shallow river running through and pathways to walk.
Kilbrittain summer festival is a week-long community party in August each year. The open-air dancing at the crossroads, is a particularly special part of the festival - the dancing platform at the beach is just a short walk up the road.
The Pink Elephant bar and restaurant is a quality eatery, again walking distance from our home.
We are so glad we chose the house of Ken and Rosita. They made us feel very welcome in there lovely artistic house. Special attention for a healthy breakfast with lots of homecoocked bread, scoons and tartes, fraiche juices and complete irischstyle eggs. They are a great couple with very many interests and qualities. They spoiled us with many little attentions. The house is situated at a beautiful, quiet place near the sea. The bed was very comfortable and with a separate bathroom. We stayed 3 nights in september which was to short to explore everything. So we will come back!

We really enjoyed our stays, in the house of Ken and his family, they are very hospitable hosts! Ken gave us a lot of useful information about our journey. It was the best home for our children, among the places where we stayed. Ken's house is very cozy and beautiful, where we tried a real Irish breakfast. Rosie and Ruby were so hospitable to our children! We would definitely stay in this house again and recommend it to our friends!
We really enjoyed our stay in Ken and Rosita's home. They are very creative and engaging people, and we conversed well past midnight. Their home has a lovely view of the bay and their sculpture and artwork accentuates the vista.
We had a fabulous dinner next door at The Pink Elephant, which, like all true establishments of class, makes all their guests feel welcome, no matter their attire. (we were a bit disheveled from a day of traveling)
Highlights of our tasty breakfast the next morning included fresh squeezed juice and home made scones right from the oven.
We would stay again, and hope our artistic paths will cross in the future.
I had a fantastic time staying with Ken, Rosita and Ruby - they live in a stunning area, and couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. They were also very flexible when my plans changed. I would love to return, hopefully for a bit longer next time.
Ken and Ruby were phenomenal hosts! They were accommodating and very hospitable. We enjoyed great conversation, sharing stories about our work and travels. They pointed us in the right direction for dinner and prepared a fabulous and delicious Irish breakfast for us. I was happy to be their first official air bnb guest and look forward to visiting them again when in Ireland. I highly recommend you stop by the south of Cork to stay with Ken & his beautiful family.
