About this listing
Walk from this quiet residential area adjacent to the Garavogue River, into Sligo town which is home to the Fleadh Ceoil in 2015, and W. B. Yeats festival. So stay a while if you love traditional Irish music or poetry, or just beautiful landscapes.
Recently modernised 3-bedroom house with two bathrooms and stove in living area. Central heating throughout. The house is spacious and the room available is a very large bedroom with private bathroom.
The house is 2 minute walking distance to the lovely Garavogue River, a children's park and 'Outdoor Gym'. Also within 8 minute (literally!) of the town.
Sligo is a great base for getting to the sea (Rosses Point and Strandhill about ten minute drive, buses to both); and of course close to Yeat's most loved and written about locations. Great music, and hosting the Fleadh Ceoil in August.
Walking distance (about 15 mins) to train and bus station; local bus at bottom of street. We are cyclists and there is a locked shed if you want to store you bike at night.
Breakfast served in the morning - nothing fancy, from porridge to scrambled egg, toast or just juice!
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy having guests and have hosted guests from France, Germany, Italy, Australia and Oman! It's rare that we have guests that we don't have a cup of tea with, or a glass of wine with in the evening. Some even timed their visit to be able to enjoy our home-grown salad! For guests that arrive by bus or train, we usually drive you to local spots you might want to enjoy, like our local mountain for a spot of hill walking or Yeat's grave out at Drumcliffe.
It's a quiet, residential area close to town with a short, scenic walk along the river. Just five minute walk along the river there's the footbridge that brings you up to The Model Arts Centre, with evening plays or films and daily exhibitions.
There is a little, local bus to drops you close to the house if you're really, really tired... ;-)
Other Things to Note
We have a visiting cat (known as Berbi) who spends time in our living room.
There's a great canoeing company ((website hidden)) that will bring the canoes to the Garavogue River just 5 mins walk from us - and are wonderful guides!
Respectful guests welcome ;-) No smoking. We love pets, but not in the house (except for Berbi... see above!). Also, no outside shoes inside. We provide slipper socks if needed.
We loved staying at Patricia's home. We felt very welcome from the first. Patricia and her family were great resources for the area and answered many questions. The room was large, beautiful and clean. The house is a short and picturesque walk from the town center. I wish we could stay there and still see all the other areas of Ireland!
The chief attraction is Pee herself: she's smart, funny, and a wealth of information re local attractions. We enjoyed our conversations with her and wish we'd had more time in her company. The room is big enough, the bed comfortable, the location close to town (a fifteen-minute stroll along the river). We loved Sligo and plan to return.
As soon as my Mum and I arrived at Pee's house, it was like stepping into a relative's home - we were extended a warm welcome (and a generous pick-up from the bus station!!) provided with tea & cookies. We spoke to Pee for hours and her daughter is absolutely charming!
The bed was luxuriously comfortable, and provided needed relief after long days of walking. The actual house was minutes away from anything in Sligo (10-15 minute walk from the "core") and we thoroughly enjoyed the scenic walk back to her home every evening.
We will continue to cherish the true Irish hospitality that we received in Sligo! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Pee was there to meet us and helped us find our way. We had a very comfortable stay in her lived in family home. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a good bed and ensuite. Pee gave us lots of info for the local area and the walk into Sligo from her house is about 10 minutes along the river.
We spent 2 nights in Pee`s house which is close to Sligo town centre and the nice Doorly park. 0ur room was very comfortable and quiet.
Pee was very welcoming and friendly, we had good chats with her and she made nice breakfasts and tea for us every morning.
Her cat, Berbi is lovely :)
We recommend staying there!

About the Host, Pee
I am a somewhat travelled woman, having living in the US for 10 years, Britain and now back home in Ireland. I've worked in a number of different areas, some interesting like wind energy development, and some not...;-) I am now teaching maths to adults, and cycling skills to children!
I used to love travelling by myself to places like Central America and the Middle East, but now I travel with my Mother (the kind of 82 year old that everyone loves, not the crotchety kind!), and my daughter (who plays the fiddle and tin whistle, but not on holidays...), so I'm a little more conventional in my choice of holidays now.
