The apartment was perfect. Stylishly decorated, plenty of closet space (a real bonus for NYC), free WiFi, and well-equipped. It was smack in the heart of all those Midtown West restaurants near the old Hell's Kitchen edge of the Theater District, yet--crucially--was a back apartment, and all windows opened onto interior air shafts, so there was ZERO NOISE from the busy streets. That, to those unused to sleeping in a city, would be worth twice the price. My host couldn't meet me when I arrived (in the middle of a weekday, so totally understandable), but instead had a friend waiting at the door to escort me up and hand over the keys. Oh, and it was so perfect a location, I never even used the subway. I could walk, within 15-20 minutes, from Penn Station, the convention center, my appointment on the East Side, and really just about anywhere in Greater Midtown. I do believe I have found my new home for those Javits Center weekends.
This apartment is in such a brilliant location - especially if you love theatre and midtown NYC. JC was the perfect host, he had lots of good info about where to go and even waited up late for the delivery of my lost luggage that missed the flight I was on. I will definitely be back here.
The mid-town west location of J.C.'s apartment was ideal for our trip; It's an easy walk to great shopping, theatres, restaurants, etc. The apartment was secure, fairly quiet & well appointed, and the bed was very comfortable. J.C. is a great host; responsive to our texts, on time to meet us with keys and very congenial. We highly recommend staying with J.C. Gil when next in NYC.
It is a lovely apartment and we really enjoy it. The apartment is close to subway and lots of restaurants and bar around . J.C is a really nice host. He was waiting for us even though we arrive at NYC late. We highly recommend this apartment and Thanks for J.C.
JC was an amazing host. My girlfriend and I got in later in the evening on our check in day and he was still there to meet us with the key and do a walk through of the flat. He suggested a great Italian food place just up the street and even let us check out late on our departure day.
The flat itself was clean and really close to everything we wanted to do. I had a great experience there and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to stay near times square!
We thoroughly enjoyed our first Airbnb experience. JC apartment is in a great location and his communication was excellent. We will recommend.
Great location. J.C. was good to communicate with. His Assistant was at the apartment waiting for our arrival and offered his assistance.
I decided to treat myself to four nights in The Big Apple to fully take advantage of theater and museums. J.C. was an excellent host and very responsive to any suggestions. I appreciate the previous guest who lamented the lack of a toaster. I was very happy that J.C. added one to the kitchen.
The apartment is ideally located right in the middle of the theater district. Nevertheless, it is extremely quiet. I was by myself and extremely comfortable. The bed (a regular double) might be a bit on the small side for a couple, but the mattress was firm and comfortable. Towels were fluffy and plentiful, and the kitchen well equipped. I plan to return next year.
The place looked so much like the photos that we felt like we were walking into the listing. J.C. was an amazing host on every level - polite, friendly, timely, and extremely accommodating. The location is central to so much of NYC. We walked to MOMA and caught a short cab to Chelsea as well as the East Village. Such a stellar experience across the board and looking forward to renting from J.C. again in the near future. Awesome first Airbnb experience!!
1. Instead of a full size bed promissed on the website, we found a 130cm wide bed, this is a size of a child bed, not for 2 adults. So we had terrible nights.
2. The photos on the website were taken long-long time ago, the apartment is quite run down now.
3. The "quiet" neighbours (again, as per the promise of the website) were loud, children crying, etc. Paper thin walls, you can hear everything from the neighbours.
4. The apartment has 1 tiny lock on the front door (we did not receive key for the other one), one kick from a burglar and the door is open. We did not feel, that it was safe at all. I think that a careful owner installs good and strong locks, to keep his guest's belongings safe.
5. Both of the 2 windows face a very-very small air-shaft, so the apartment is dark and depressing.
6. In the bathroom, the holder of the shower head is broken, so you can not place the shower head anywhere.
7. Despite the fact, that we informed our host in advance when exactly we are arriving, the heating was not turned on, so it was about 15 Celsius in the flat, and it took 2-3 hours to reach normal temperature.
Dear Rooz, thank you for providing feedback about your recent
stay. I appreciate and value all guests feedback, positive and negative, as it
is an excellent tool to continually improve the hosting process and afford a
better experience for my future guests.
I'm sorry to read of your disappointing stay. Please
accept my apologies for the challenges you had. This is not reflective of my
service standards and is troubling to read I could not make your stay a
fantastic one. Your feedback has been taken seriously so I can address this
immediately and correct these shortcomings and afford a higher quality stay.
While I am delighted to read you enjoyed my central
location, I'm disappointed to read you encountered so many challenges with the apartment.
I hope to have an opportunity to redeem myself to you in the future.
Also I would to respond to your comments:
- The bed is a full size bed Americanstandards,
this means a full size bed is 54 inches wide and 75 inches

are not children living in the building at all and till today the apartment
located next to mine is empty. Since the neighbor left four months ago no one
has rented it yet. During your stay it was completely empty as it is today.
- The apartment is located in a very popular area in the heart of New York. The neighborhood is very safe as well as the building. We have never had any incident regarding safety at all. When I met you and I provided you the keys I explained to you that the second lock was ONLY to be locked inside when you were inside the apartment. You said it was perfectly O.K. You could have informed at that precise moment about your concerns and I would
have installed as many locks as possible so secure your belongings and
are not air-shafts in the apartment at all. The apartment has two big air
conditioners. If the main room was dark you could have opened the blinds and
move the curtains so the light could have entered. Also, New York during the
winter is pretty dark. Around 5:00
p.m. is already dark.
the bathroom, the holder was broken by a previous guest and did not change it
to not bother during your stay. The shower anyhow worked perfectly. This issue
has been fixed already. I deeply apologize if this caused you so much trouble.
When I met you I mentioned that you could call me, text me or e-mail me anytime
if you had any issue. I would have loved to hear from you about this situation
and I would have fixed immediately.
I met you we spoke about how fortunate you were that the weather was so nice in
New York. The very cold storm had just passed and it was sunny and beautiful
outside. I actually suggested to you to take advantage of the day and have a stroll.
The apartment is equipped with central heater in the living room and the main
room and also I have a portable heater that can be adjusted to your needs.
Since the apartment is small it takes very few minutes to warm up. In case you
use the portable heater will take less than 10 seconds to warm up.
Based on your feedback, it is evident that I did not
succeed in meeting your overall expectations. I strive to create an experience
where my guests can honestly state they received unparalleled service. I will
be sure to work on finding better solutions in these areas for the future. J.C.
