We had excellent communication with James, and all was as expected. Upstairs tenants were gone most of the week, so our stay was completely quiet. Well equipped kitchen and nicely furnished overall. WiFi was fast and dependable. Comfortable bed with quality bedding. Taller guests (I'm 6'5" will quickly learn where to duck when moving about this basement apartment. Would recommend visitors have a car.
I had a wonderful stay in James's apartment. It is located in Milwaukie - about a 40 minute bus ride to downtown Portland. The bus stop is about two blocks away from the house itself. There is a large grocery store, great restaurants and bars all within half a mile. The apartment is very cozy with an adorable bedroom nook. The kitchen is very well equipped. James is very attentive to details - for example, he provided breakfast items for my stay, and provided maps and takeout menus. He took the time to show me the smoke alarms, first aid kit, etc. He was also very responsive to phone calls, texts, etc. I highly recommend this property!
Everything was as expected with the unit we rented from James. James was very professional and had all the bases covered with info about the unit, neighborhood, etc. He also stocked it with basic food items and we were very comfortable. The unit is basic and well maintained. Clean, quiet and comfortable. If you're looking for a quality bargain rental, I'd recommend this one.
This cozy basement apartment is exactly as described. James was in communication quickly and had someone meet us to let us in and show us aroung (he was not available himself). The pantry was stocked with basics for breakfast, which was great because we got in a bit later in the day, so were all ready for the next morning.
The kitchen is well-equipped, everything clean and tidy. There are occupants above you, though they were generally quiet during the night-time.
The "handbook" has some basic information about Milwaukee and Portland and getting around, along with the "House Rules."
James was a great host! Greeted us with Trader Joe's goodies and helped us out with suggestions on where to eat in town. The suite is very nice and cozy and in a lovely area...10 minute drive to downtown. Thank you for a fantastic weekend in Portland! Would highly recommend James' suite as a place to stay in Portland.
This was the first time I've stayed a second time at an airbnb rental. How fun! James had it all prepared and it was like coming home to an old friend's house--he is a great host and a great person to know. So when I said I would definitely stay here again I meant it and I did! James' place is five stars on my Portland list!
Loved the quaint Charming Cozy basement apartment for it's homey feel. It was so nice to explore all of Portland and Mount Hood during the day and then come back to a homebase in the charming suburbs. James was a great host, very attentive and provided us with some Trader Joe's treats, too. If you're OK staying outside the city --which I usually prefer-- then you should try this place out. And the price can't be beat for all that you receive! Thanks James!
Pro: Kind host, lots of space, great price, quaint area, good local feel
Con: A little off the beaten path, Some noise since it is a basement
I am from Portland, Oregon and work as an artist and movement therapist. I am a clean and considerate person and respect other peoples property as I would my own.
