Hello. I have a really special space to offer. It is best described as a cabin- but without the inconvenience of actually living in a cabin far out in the woods. It is an urban cabin, surrounded by all that NE Portland has to offer- ten minute walk to the Alberta Arts District, Mississippi Street and the Williams corridor. We are close to transit lines and a two minute walk to the bus line. Food and entertainment are at the ready. But where you will be staying feels like a world apart. Wood walls, loft bed, pitched ceiling, quaint little gas stove for cooking, vintage fridge, an eclectic pot-bellied stove that heats the room, french doors that let in tons of light and look out onto your own private grassy seating area, chickens clucking away in the yard... this is a space for writing, cooking, reading and finding peace within. It has all of the comforts of home: an entire bookshelf of novels and a cozy couch to snuggle up on.
The cabin sits in the backyard of a big, homey, worn old girl of a house. Three women live in the big house- a clothing designer (Emily), a fashion stylist (Sarah), and a farmer (Jamie). We love cooking together and sitting by the fire and sharing a glass of wine. Bikes are our first mode of transportation. I consider us to be very open-minded, non-judgmental, and kind. I include this description because you will be using the bathroom in the big house. To do so you will pass through the kitchen. We want to feel comfortable and we want you to feel comfortable. The right match in terms of personality and expectations is important for this arrangement to work well for everyone. We would like to host someone who is interested in their own private experience. Our home is our sanctuary and we enjoy going about our business without interacting with the cabin inhabitant all that much in terms of hanging out or talking a lot. We are looking for someone who is more of an introvert or at least into doing their own thing.
The cabin is for those with low-maintenance needs. There is a pee pot out there, the space is simple, there is no TV only a radio. This is a home-made kinda place. Rich in character.
Please tell me about yourself... we're excited to meet and host you!

We had a wonderful stay at Emily's cabin. She's a great host, warm and hospitable, and we immediately felt welcome.
The cabin is simple, but cozy and relaxing (it made me want one for myself..). From the second night on, we let Slacks in and he slept curled up next to us. A very fabulous cat :).
Perhaps we were biased by the beautiful, fresh and sunny spring weather, but we also loved the pretty, quiet and safe neighborhood. The cabin is conveniently located in the vicinity of great cafés and restaurants, with easy access to the freeway and public transportation within walking distance.
We loved the barn in combination with the mother in law apartment. It gave us two spaces to hang out. The cabin is charming and perfect. It utilizes either the bathroom in the house or in the apartment so keep in mind you might make a drizzly dash.
Emily is an incredible host-- I've stayed with her twice-- and each time it was a lovely experience. The cabin is rustic, and full of charm. Would definitely recommend the cabin to friends, and I look forward to visiting again!
The cabin was nothing short of serene and lovely. Imagine minima(website hidden)stic elegance. You can really feel the love Emily put into creating the space.
If you read the description thoroughly and decide it's for you, you should be thoroughly satisfied. I was moving back to Portland and needed a launching pad from which to hunt for an apartment. The cabin felt much more like a home than I could have expected. The bookshelf was stocked, the bed was abundantly comfortable, and the little stove was more than enough to keep the humble space cozy. My cat loved it, too.
N.B. the sleeping space is lofted, so it you aren't physically capable of climbing a (very sturdy) set of ladder stairs, this isn't the space for you.
The bathroom is shared with the house, and the ladies who live inside are warm and welcoming. I felt very comfortable sharing a bit of their space. They also respected my privacy thoroughly; Emily sent texts of e-mails to contact me, and notified me well in advance when a maintenance person was scheduled to come in. There was a key provided for the door as well., although I didn't use it.
The kitchen is stocked with the basics required for simple cooking, and the cabin as a whole is stocked with the basics for simple living.
I would not hesitate to recommend this space to anyone whose needs it met. As a bonus, there are chickens in the yard and beautiful trees surrounding the entrance to the path.
I loved this cabin! It was really comfortable and cozy. It was warm enough at night with the space heater definitely, and the kitchen and coffeemaker were useful too. This cabin was a great welcome to Portland! A great experience and I would definitely stay here again.
