We are located in a quiet, international neighbourhood in the hills behind Sosua. There are two mini-markets within easy walking distance where many expats meet daily to have a cool drink & chat.
There is a restaurants within walking distance, although if you wish to cook for yourself we have a bbq & your studio is equipped with a modern gas stove/oven.
The town of Sosua itself is a five minute drive away, there are many local motocycle taxis & public taxis which can take you into town at very reasonable cost.
In Sosua you will find many restaurants, bars & beautiful public beaches. The town is renowned for its' night life & we will be happy to advise you of the local hot-spots.
We are only 15 minutes away from Puerto Plata International Airport & will be only too happy to collect you from the airport & drop you off at the end of your stay with us for a nominal fee of $20 each way - airport taxis charge $35.
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in one of the most historic areas in the Caribbean, at a true budget price we believe our home will not disappoint. Please be advised, though, that we do have a playful puppy!
In response to many questions - the bed in the guest house is a DOUBLE BED despite the pictures showing a single.
Our advice to people looking to fly down here is to fly into Puerto Plata (POP) airport, not Saniago (STI). Although we are only 40 miles from Santiago, that portion of your trip can take longer than the first 2,000!. We are only 15 minutes from our local airport ...
One of our guests took 6 hours to get here from Santiago!
For the safety & security of all we do not allow guests at our home.
Our property is not suitable for children, &, since we have a dog, we cannot allow pets either.
We operate a No Smoking policy inside our guest house, though you are free to smoke outdoors of course.
Marc was most welcoming and accommodating. He gave us a lot of information about the country overall which was of great value to us. We found the place accurate to the description. The neighborhood is nice, mostly x-pats. Its about a 15' walk down to the main highway. Marc was available to give us a ride to town for a fee if needed. Hot water was available in the kitchen and in the shower; however, it was not working from the bathroom sink. The house is in the shade most of the day, so the temperature was pleasant. The land scape around the house and pool is very nice.
a friend and i stayed 4 days with mark and louise (and odee!) and had a really nice time! the guest house has plenty of space for two people, and the area is quite safe as it's not on the main drag in sosua. it's still pretty easy to get around though, and mark and louise are more than willing to help you out with a ride into town which was extremely helpful for us with all of our bags (and misleading information from the bus company ;-) ) great little spot to spend a while if you're in the area!
Mark & Louise were so helpful from the minute we met. Valuable information & great company. We all liked to socialise but we all had out privacy too. The pool was a life saver in the unusual heat so early in the summer. We had many a happy hour in it. Mark didn't mind doing taxi runs into town which was very helpful. The setting is lovely with plants all around & so many birds, the typical Caribbean setting. Perfectly adequate accommodation with a lot of pluses from Mark & Louise themselves. Louise does a blue cheese & sour cream dressing to die for.
Very nice couple who will go out of their way to help you. I was picked up at the airport by Mark which made everything so much simpler. If you like what you see on the website don’t hesitate to book, what you see is what you get, you won’t be disappointed and you won’t get better for the price.
