Visit our delightful Red Cottage within walking distance to historic downtown Petaluma. We are centrally located in the wine country with easy drives to Sonoma and Napa. The cottage is only a thirty-minute drive to downtown San Francisco and the Sonoma coast. Tomales Bay, Bodega Bay, Point Reyes, and Jenner are some of the sites you'll want to see. And lots more.
The cottage has three bedrooms and a bath and a half. One bedroom has two twin beds, one has a queen bed, and the third room has a twin. Between the bedrooms there is a full bath with a large vanity and a bathtub/shower enclosure. The open floorplan includes the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The fully-stocked kitchen has everything you will need to prepare meals at home. The dining room has a large table that seats six comfortably and can accommodate eight, if needed. The spacious living room flat-screen TV, comfortable sofa, two side-chairs, and a game table with seating. Off the kitchen you'll find a washer and dryer and a half-bath. The cottage includes a large deck, off the back of the house, where you can relax and enjoy your stay.
We LOVED our first stay here at the Red Cottage. Everything was just perfect for our group of five. However, trying to book our second stay for just a few short months later, Jo Ann attempted to raise her rates on us without disclosing that's what she was indeed attempting to do. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she's probably not tech savvy with the site, but she first gave the impression that the price difference was somehow an AirBnB booking error and not her raising the prices on us. Finally she did admit that the price had indeed gone up (about $500 for our exact same stay) but then we were quoted a price that didn't include all the fees, so it was still another $100+ on top of that.
In the end it was waaaaaay more trouble (for all of us I'm sure - both hosts and guests) than it needed to be - especially not to have ended up with a great place to stay at the end of it all. : (
I will say this house is to-the-nines. It's a gem. Clearly a work of love. The host, Jo Ann, is an artist and always was great with us for our initial rental. But sadly the *amazingness* of our original stay has been overshadowed by this terrible experience trying to book again.
Having been an AirBnB guest and host countless times myself, I could never imagine misleading a group in the way we were. I doubt it was intentional but I felt surprised and strung around with all the confusion of the price changes and the back and forth through unclear communications for over a month, both on AirBnB and off.
I still would recommend staying here - but just be forewarned on any price disclosures.
The little red house was perfect! Tons of room, great location and vary clean. My family had a great time!!!
The Red Cottage was a wonderful place to stay and JoAnn was a wonderful host. The cottage was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We were met at the door with homemade cookies and made to feel very welcome. We would certainly recommend staying here and would definitely return.
The Red Cottage is beautifully decorated, spacious and well located.
We could walk to downtown Petaluma, to Whole Foods, and restaurants. We appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with all that was needed for cooking - even baking. The washer-dryer was a great help.
The house is beautiful, happy colors, comfortable beds, close to Peets and Whole Foods!
Charming cottage. We all enjoyed our weekend stay for a graduation at Sonoma State. Everything was what we could wish for and more. We called it "Happy House" it was so cheerful and welcoming. Will go again sometime to enjoy the wine country more.
Really cute house, perfect for the four of us and very close to everything you'd want to do in downtown (website hidden) Ann is a great host. She even left us a plate of homemade cookies. :) Highly recommended.
Jo Ann's house is a great place to stay in the middle of wine country. We felt right at home during our stay. We enjoyed our stay very much and would book it again.
We were three travelers looking to locate some quality Sonoma region Pinot Noirs and get over to Bodega Bay. Petaluma seemed like a perfect jumping off spot and JoAnn's Red Cottage ideally located, close to freeway exits and walking distance to Petaluma's old town.
Couldn't have been better.
The Red Cottage felt just like home - if my home was clean and decorated tastefully. JoAnn really does bake fresh killer cookies and provide all manner of support with backroads, restaurant recommendations, and other great local insights.
My traveling companion wanted to cook one night and the Red Cottage had everything needed to prepare and serve a devastating dinner featuring a stew of the fresh fish we had gotten on the coast paired with a couple bottles of the Russian River Pinots from our first day's adventures.
We are already planning a return trip to the region for the spring and hope we will be able to book JoAnn's place.
