An amazing get away that feels like the country while being close to the city. The quaint little home is surrounded on 2 sides by an incredible spring fed pod, nature activities, and nurturing quietude. Relax, and refresh in sustainability!
Located on Johns Island, which is 8.6 miles from Downtown Charleston, SC & 23 mins from Kiawah Island & Beach, this is like a private cabin campground getaway :) Set in the rural back yard and farmlands of Charleston, this 8.5 acres is completely set up for nature walks in the woods, a swimming hole complete with a zip line into the water, large garden, picnic tables, fire pit, kayaks and boats for enjoying the nearly 4 acres of spring fed ponds.
The building has a small and fully functional kitchen, a toilet, outdoor shower, dining space & den, a lovely screened porch & fantastic views of the water. The upstairs, is only accessible by romantic and fun ATTIC STYLE LADDER, and has a double bed, drawers and clothing rack. We have lots of kid and family games stocked in the cupboard, a TV and DVD player that can be plugged in, available signal for WiFi, as well as a pull out couch for extra sleeping arrangements.
We are a 5 minute car ride from the grocery and local Johns Island restaurants, and Chilsolm Rd. to which we are adjacent, is a regular local bike riders route. Our land is truly unique, and has a truly great outdoor space for enjoying the gorgeous Charelston weather. Come and enjoy this Nature Lover's Paradise!
kayaking, woods, swimming, outdoor shower, great restaurants, - many people say it feels like a secluded mountain get away, but close to town and in the low-country :)
Interaction with Guests
we are here on the property too, but there's a whole 8.5 acres to enjoy, and the space feels very private, while also being part of a community.
Other Things to Note
we are looking to have the hot tub set up very very soon for the winter months :) yessss!!!
Polite. Respect all things and return them to their place. Leave all personal items be please. Deal with our dogs kindly and as explained. Thank you.
What a magical and romantic place! We had such a wonderful vacation in the Charleston area and I think that Willis's loft might have been the best part! It rained a bit while we were here, so we spent a good amount of time just lounging around and listening to Willis's awesome records while reading our books on the screened-in porch. When I grow up, I want a house just like this! Thank you for sharing your lovely space with us, Willis!
Our experience at the Nature Lover's Loft was magical. Willis was a fantastic host who provided us with a clean and tidy living space. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to meet Willis; however, she left us a warm welcome note and let us know we could contact her with any questions/concerns. The loft's location on Johns Island was perfect for exploring the local beaches (Kiawah, Folly, Sullivan's), downtown Charleston, and attractions like the Angel Oak Tree. We'd recommend this listing to anybody in a heartbeat.
Willis' Nature Lover's Loft was even better than we could have imagined! Nestled along a big pond we spent a lot of our time in kayaks and on a john boat, taking in the warm weather and beautiful scenery. We ate breakfast on the screened in porch and loved the morning visits from her sweet dogs, Vasser and Maggie. By far our favorite part of the cozy loft was the record player and her wonderful taste in music. We listed to records the whole time. Though there is wifi we didn't even turn it on, but enjoyed being disconnected from our busy daily routines. We had the most magical of stays here and can't wait to return one day!
enjoyed the stay.pretty much as advertised.hosts give you privacy.did run out of hot water in shower one cold morning, but not a big (website hidden) daughter described unit as eclectic,in a cool way.will consider renting again in the future.
We absolutely loved our experience at Willis's home. The setting was completely relaxing with ponds surrounding the property, chickens in the yard, two lovely dogs, and the romantic and beautiful interior of the house. We loved all the personal items that Willis leaves up rather than taking them down to mimic a hotel. We played half of the records on her record player and danced on the kitchen floor. We skimmed some of Willis's books on yoga. When we were there the weather was rainy, and yet the rain and the ponds provided their own magic. We are excited to come back and experience a sunny weekend especially with all the wonderful boats and kayaks available to renters right outside your door.
This place is magic. We highly recommend!!!
Oh, and the outdoor shower is a huge plus! If you've never tried one, they are the best way to enjoy a shower!
I never did meet Willis, but Jeff was there to greet us. The house was exactly as described, full of character and amenities. The property was lovely and serene, and my son enjoyed the visits from the dogs. My son had fun with the boats in the water, even though the temps were chilly, it felt like spring to us (being from northern MN). The only thing I missed was hot water, I knew the shower was outside, but hot water would have made it bearable. We didn't mind too much though, we were in camping mode. Thanks Willis and Jeff!
Chelsea! you didn't have hot water?? darlin, we have great HOT water! Maybe the pilot light blew out. oh i am so sorry! please everyone, do not hesitate to ask me if something seems off. If I am not home, there are several of us here to support you and there is great HOT water :o) so sorry about that!
I had an amazing stay at Willis' loft. It was the perfect getaway for me to spend time outside and enjoy some alone time. The loft was absolutely adorable, clean and had all of the amenities I needed for a great experience. I would love to stay again if I revisit the area. Thanks Willis!
