A two bedroom apartment—entirely yours—situated in Historic Downtown Jersey City, a neighborhood right across the Hudson River from Manhattan in NJ. Walk to the PATH subway stop, pass by farmers markets and shops—all just minutes from Manhattan.
Hi, I'm offering a private (completely yours) two bedroom apartment located in Historic Downtown Jersey City, across the Hudson river from Manhattan.
The apartment is about a 3/4 of a mile to the nearest PATH subway station, which operates 24 hours. A 10-15 minute walk from the front door to the subway.
ABOUT THE APT: Situated on the third floor of a 19th century building this two bedroom apartment features hardwood floors, granite counters and exposed brick. It is a complete unit, totally private, nothing shared.
The bedrooms are bright with street facing windows:
1. Room One includes a queen sized bed (sleeps two), a chair and luggage rack. Small closet in the hall.
2. Room two has a twin bed (sleeps one), lounge chair, closet space and an empty clothes hamper.
The living room / kitchen provide a seating area (couch and chair) and 32" HDTV with cable TV. A standing desk is on the side.
Wifi awaits you.
An expandable kitchen table seats four and allows you to spread out. Great for sipping coffee and planning your day.
The kitchen offers a two surface hot-plate, drip coffee machine, electric kettle, small blender and a microwave as well as all the needed utensils. Note: The historic stove is for decor only.
FOOD: When you arrive there will be cereals, oats, milk, coffee, tea, etc. A supermarket and many brunch-y restaurants are minutes away.
LAUNDRY: A laundromat is on the corner. Drop-off service available.
The entire apartment is yours and yours alone. I'll give you keys, show you to the apartment and then you are good to go.
I live in the same building in an apartment downstairs and work in Manhattan. If you have any questions or needs, email, text or call.
Throughout the neighborhood, you'll find splendid architectural relics mixed with '80s glass high-rise towers, pizzerias, old mansions, brick row houses, ice cream shops, tenements, and a selection of small bars and restaurants.
Most people walk to get around our neighborhood and in and out of Manhattan via the subway.
SUBWAY: Our subway system, called the PATH, goes directly to and from Manhattan 24 hours a day. We have a choice of two nearby subway stations at less than a mile away, Newport and Grove St.
WEEKDAY TIMES TO MANHATTAN:
Walking + Subway = about...
22 min to the World Trade Center, Downtown
25 min to Christopher St. in the West Village
33 min to Herald Square Shopping District (and Korea Town; Penn Station)
42 min to Times Square in Midtown
46 min to Central Park
NOTE: Weekend service into Manhattan is slower due to construction. One of our two nearby PATH stations closes during the weekend.
Please refer to GøøgleMåps.cøm/Trånsit for a map and the 24 hour train schedule: I'm near 6th St. and Coles in Jersey City.
TAXI: Cabs are found at the PATH stations. You can also call a cab anytime or book one online or on your phone (UBERx) if you need airport transportation.
BUS: The bus system here (as in New York) is slow and should be avoided at all costs.
DRIVING = 7 Minutes (no traffic) to Tribeca. We are on the NJ side of the Holland Tunnel.
ON-STREET PARKING: Since we are so close to mass transit, street parking is limited to 2 hours 8:AM to 5:PM Monday through Friday and is FREE overnight and weekends. We do have parking garages nearby.
CAR RENTAL: Major car rental agencies are within walking distance: Enterprise, Avis, Budget, Zip Car (hourly rental) and U-Haul (moving vans).
AIRPORT: I recommend the Newark airport (EWR) to save you time and money.
Need a cab to/from any NYC Airport or to outlet mall shopping? Download the UBER app! If you have a smart phone that has a US data plan, UBERx is the cheapest and most reliable wat to go. Sign up in advance online or on your phone. Use promo code: UBERAIRBNB for $10/off your first ride. Select uberX when you need a ride.
No need to tip! This is my favorite means of transportation.
From JFK or LGA, plan on at least a 1.5hr - 2 hr mass transit ride, or spending $120 to take a reserved cab (Carmel or dial7 Car Service online, or UBERx (see above).
From EWR, plan on 1 hr mass transit ride, or spending $30 to take a reserved cab (King Limo or UBERx).
NOTE: Saturday and Sunday PATH subway service into Manhattan is slow due to construction. The World Trade Center line is closed during these days, however the 33rd st. line is open.
DEPOSIT: $100, refunded by AirBNB.
EXTRA GUESTS: $10/Night over three people, arranged and paid in advance through AirBnB. This is not encouraged since space is limited.
Always a pleasure to stay with Mike. A great host, friendly and available to answer any questions or resolve problems.
Hope we see you soon!!
Mike's apartment was clean and comfortable. Neighbourhood is nice and pretty quiet which is great to take rest after a long exhausting day in NYC. Beds are also comfortable. Place is just like we expected.
Mike and Don was very helpful all the time. There was a guidebook prepared by Mike that includes pretty much every stuff you need to know about his place (transits, walking directions, restaurants, delis etc). We appreciated the food he left for us, really nice touch.
I would definitely recommend this place and it would be my first choice to stay next time I visit NYC.
It was a great stay at Mike's apartment. I really loved everything. Mike and Don are very friendly and always ready to help.
Apartment is just what you see on pictures: amazingly furnitured with really cool antiquary items; big; very clean, close enough to PATH train to New York City.
It is really convenient to get to the NYC, you will need to walk about 10-15 min to train, and spend on train about 15-20 min to get to the 33rd street, which is right in the center of NYC.
There are some nice pubs on your way to apartments from PATH, so if you feel strong enough after Manhattan, you can visit them on the way back.
Thanks a lot, Mike!
P.S. If you are from Europe, note, in US they don't iron their clothes, so be warned :)
Mike's apartment was a perfect place to stay. I wanted to be a little bit out of the hustle and bustle, but still get around easily enough, so this was ideal. The apartment was clean, well stocked with crockery and basic amenities, and quiet. Everything worked perfectly. It's also worth saying how extremely helpful Mike was in the notes he leaves for visitors and Don was in letting me in and giving a few tips on getting about.
I would absolutely recommend this place to others. Thanks Mike and Don!
This apartment and Mike's hospitality was perfect. I used to live in Jersey City and Mike told me all the new (better) changes in the neighborhood. I will definitely stay here again.
Excellent apartment / host / place / environment. Definitely recommended!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, it's in a great location between to easily accessible train station which take you all the way to 33rd St (8mins walk to Times Sq) or the World Trade Centre.
On arrival Mike was very helpful, going through all aspects of the apartment and recommending places to eat and shop, as well as providing written directions! There was also, milk, cereals, orange juice and a really nice wine left for us, a great touch after a long haul flight!
The bedrooms were simple but very comfortable and the apartment was decorated very well with a homely feel.
I would highly recommend this apartment if you would like to visit NY or NJ but do not want to stay in a loud or 'party' place, although the trains run all night!

We stayed in Mike's apartment for 9 nights and all I can say is that it just couldn't have been better!!
The apartment is as beautiful as pictured and very clean.
We felt very welcome all the time. Mike had bread milk juice oats etc already in the fridge for us which we were very glad of because we arrived in the late evening.
He was very friendly and gave us many advices which were really helpful.
The location is also very good - nice neighborhood and only 2 subway stations to the World Trade Center. I recommend to go by PATH and not by car it is really comfortable and way cheaper.
I only can recommend this place - it has the best value for money!
Mike, thank you again for your hospitality, we enjoyed it very much to stay in your lovely apartment!
Mike is a lovely person and a great host. Extremely efficient and helpful. The apartment is spacious, very comfortable and beautifully finished. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting the area. Downtown JC is lovely and it is very easy to get to NYC. Mike even provides you with breakfast treats and we had a superb bottle of blueberry wine, what a star. Everyone in the building are a credit to the overall vibe of the place too, friendly and relaxing.
Five stars from me, thank you Mike x
