The space

Tree houses have something to say. They speak in an ancient language, and the message is universal: climb up and be in harmony with Nature.

Let go of earthbound encumbrances and be free. You may not be young enough any more to climb a tree, branch by perilous branch, but so what?

The important thing is being in the tree not how you get up in it. (Peter Nelson and Garry Hadden).

A unique experience, living in a giant ficus tree, nestled in its branches, with nature all around you. Fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and wake up in luxury. Topo's Tree House has 2 decks, with an extra 3rd little deck to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening cocktail while looking out into the jungle's tree tops and flora. You might even share this moment with a passing sloth!

The 1st floor has a beautiful tropical wood deck, with carved posts and one side which is completely a wall of the giant tree's roots, creating a mosaic of shapes, twists and turns. There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, bathroom and terrace over-looking the tropical pond with its orchids and lilies. Relax in the hammock while watching parrots, hummingbirds and toucans as they fly by.

On the 2nd deck, there is a another living room on the open air terraced with a spectacular view looking over the canopy of trees and plants. The 2 bedrooms are adjacent to the living room, each with its own window opening out into the tree's branches. The main bedroom has a 4 poster-bed with a full Queen orthopaedic mattress, lots of pillows and a mosquito net draping over it, lamps and a security safe box. The other bedroom has 2 twin beds with mosquito nets and lamps. A large bathroom with 2 sinks, a full shower with glass doors, elegant tiles and beautiful hardwood cabinets.

The 3rd deck has its private little terrace with iron wrought chairs and table , feel completely enveloped in the trees living branches with hanging orchids.

On the 1st floor, an outside shower is found in between the trees roots.

Comforts are found everywhere, from the hot running water, fully equipped kitchen, wireless Internet, flat screen Satellite TV, outdoor BBQ, to a big fridge.

The large tropical gardens have been landscaped for years but retain their natural attraction. They have been nourished to be the home for different species of birds, poison dart frogs (harmless to humans by the way!), inviting sloths monkeys and butterflies. The tropical gardens are a home to much of the local wildlife. Little ponds for fish and turtles, bromeliads for frogs and flowers for butterflies. Stroll through this magical garden, truly a little Garden of Eden.

At only 100 mt. down the little sand road lies the beach of Playa Negra. A well known beach for surfers. The coconut trees, the beach, the surfers, swimmers and the famous 'Reggae Bar' make it a great place to relax and enjoy life. Sit on the open air terrace of 'Reggae Bar' over-looking the beach, feel the breeze as it moves through the palm leaves, enjoy a Pina Colada and the local dish of Coconut Chicken with Rice & Beans or a fresh Redsnapper grilled on the BBQ. Friday nights are 'Live Music' dance and move to the vibes of Reggae, Calypso and Blues. For the younger generation hit the town! The streets are full of locals and tourists dancing and having fun to the music of Reggae Dancehall.

We had a fantastic time at Topo's, like something out of a dream. We took our boys aged 6 and 7 and stayed for a week. It couldn't have been a better and more enriching experience. Nearby we were able to snorkel, ride horseback, tour indigenous tribes, zip line, and visit the Jaguar rescue center. We willl recommend Topo's magical treehouse to everyone we know!

Topo's Treehouse is a must stay if you are planning a trip to the Caribbean coast of CR. We went in March and there were next to no bugs and lots of wildlife to see. The Treehouse is ideally located about 100 feet from the ocean and the nearby restaurants, so everything is nearby. Other beach towns on the coast are a short drive away. We would highly recommend this property! The experience of staying in an open air treehouse was fantastic! Topo is also a great host and nearby if you ever needed anything.

You have to stay at Topo Treehouse to believe it! I have never been one with nature like this. Monkeys, sloths and Toucans right outside your Hammock. Truly a perfectly unique place to stay.

Topo's Tree-house was a Wonderfully unique and memorable experience! We would highly recommend it to all! My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time exploring the area in & around Cahuita. We arrived earlier than expected and Topo was quick to meet us @ Reggae bar before we even finished our second beer! Great with communication. The treehouse is conveniently close to some nice restaurant/bars. (3-5 minute walk to Reggae Bar, Chao's restaurant, Brenda's for breakfast) If you wanna drop a little bit of cash and have a superb meal check out Sobre Los Olas! (8 minute walk from the house, fantastic!) Downtown Cahuita was not exactly our favorite place... We stopped into Cocoa's bar for lunch and found the area quite seedy, lots of illegal transactions going down on pretty much all 4 corners... Too many flies swarming around also, needles to say I was happy to get out of there and get back to Topo's treehouse side of town... The Beaches south Cahuita were beautiful! We spent a couple days swimming around @ Punta Uva, you should definitely check that area out.. Also the Tree of Life animal sanctuary up the street was a nice experience along with the Jaguar rescue center south of Cahuita if you wanna see some wildlife.. All in All it was an even better experience than we had expected and we enjoyed making all of our friends back home jealous when they saw all of our wonderful photos of Topo's Treehouse..! Pura Vida indeed!

Topo made us feel very welcome and he was very helpful. The location is amazing and the house is something you really must see. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short because of the storm in the carribean, but we hope to return sometime soon!

A beautiful treehouse. Lots of monkeys and other wildlife. Close walk to the beach and places to eat and enjoy a drink. Activities close by as well. Enjoyed my stay.

Topo User ProfileTopo is a superhost.

I have lived in Costa Rica since 1987. I came here for the first time looking for poison dart frogs, which is my passion & hobby. Fell in love with Cahuita, went back home to Germany to work very hard, to come back here and buy my dream. A piece of land in the jungle close to the beach. It was my dream and is my paradise.
