This comfortable, private, and quiet one bedroom flat is perfect for one person or has space for up to four people. It takes 25 minutes to get to the heart of London. There are excellent restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and a theatre 5 minutes walk.
This is a beautiful one bedroom apartment in a classic large well maintained Victorian house. The flat has two rooms, one bedroom and another large room used as a living room, kitchen and dining room.
The large windows bring a lot of sunlight into the flat. The curtains are thick and the flat is dark when closed. All of the windows have double glazing, keeping out the noise.
Next to the main room is the bathroom which has a toilet and shower. The area is safe and the apartment is decorated with art and furniture from around the world.
The bedroom has a beautiful king size double bed. The main room has a couch that folds out into a large single bed with a mattress. The apartment can fit up to four people as long as those four people do not mind sharing a bed between two. I can also provide a blow up mattress if requested.
Please see the reviews which have been excellent. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Also see the lists of amenities in the flat and feel free to ask any questions.
It is a private flat and all facilities will be yours only so not shared. I live elsewhere so I do not stay at the flat.
The guests will have access to the entire one bedroom flat and they will not share it. The apartment is in a Victorian House. Access is through a shared entrance and exit through the main door.
Interaction with Guests
I will interact with the guests whenever necessary or not as you prefer. I can meet guests when they arrive or I can also mail the keys if that is preferred. When you leave please leave the keys in the flat and close the door behind you. I can always be quickly reached for any reason.
The area has a variety of excellent and affordable restaurants. Osteria Tufo (Italian), Thai Food (Cats), Japanese (Dotori), for breakfast and brunch (The Front Room), Turkish (Petek), and more. Please ask and see the 'guidebook' section for specific details.
The area also has a great theatre (Park Theatre, (email hidden)) which has amazing shows with up and coming and big names.
There is a wonderful pub, the Faltering Fullback, with one of the best outdoor seating areas in London, just around the corner.
It is also a short walk to Arsenal football stadium and
Public transport links in the area are excellent with the Victoria Line and Piccadilly Line, the two fastest and most frequent tube lines, both connecting at Finsbury Park station. There are also overground, trains and buses that connect all over London and England.
The station is a 5 or 10 minute walk depending on if you have luggage or not.
It takes 25 minutes door to door to get into the heart of London (Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Oxford Circus or Covent Garden).
Other Things to Note
You can use any food, spices or oils. The pots and pans are kept in the oven and cupboard above the fridge. When using the washing machine please ensure that you do not try to open the machine before it is completely finished. Turn the dial to the number 9 setting to operate.
Coffee machine and blender is kept in the other cupboard when you come into the main room.
There is a shower but no bath. I ask guests to clean the flat before they leave and to smoke out the window. Please do not turn off the fuses above the stove. They look like light switches but are fuses. The extractor fan above the stove must be used when cooking.
A lovely flat, in a good location with easy access to the centre of London(we found the bus was easiest).
The host was very accommodating and was on hand to help us find our way around and give advice on anything should we need it.
All in all it was a great trip made better by the fact we had an apartment to come back to at the end of the day instead of a hotel!
The experience was brilliant! Only stayed one night but was amazing. The place is lovely and spacious, great size for 2-4 people. Perfect location as well, very close to tube station. Matthew was very helpful and answered any questions along the way. Would definitely recommend staying here! Hopefully going to go back soon.
Matthew was very helpful and flexible in accommodating our arrival time. The apartment was around a 25 minute train ride from downtown and a ten minute walk through a slightly sketch neighbourhood (more so at night). Four of us stayed in the flat, which was a bit smaller than it appears in the pictures and also didn't feel quite as clean I would have chosen. The washroom was small, the toilet clogged on our second evening and the shower door was broken, but it seemed that every effort had been made to thoroughly clean before our arrival. All in all, everything was fine, just not great.
Thank you for the feedback and I take it seriously. Although it is rare that I respond I feel like I have no choice due to inaccuracies.
Even the faintest of heart would hardly describe the area as sketchy. Does Alanna expect this area of central London to look like a leafy suburb? The area is safe, has wonderful restaurants and a great local theatre (see reviews).
Regarding the cleanliness, the flat is professionally cleaned between each visit. Possibly she says this as the flat has old rugs and decorations from around the world.
The apartment is also clearly described as a one bedroom flat, although it is a large one bedroom. The flat does fit up to 4 people but it is still a one bedroom. I have two beds in the flat and an air mattress so that groups tourists, sometimes young people, like Alanna and her friends, can choose something more affordable.
Please see the other reviews as I believe that they will paint a more accurate picture.
Matthew house was very warm and confortable. It has everything you need for a vacation in London. Islington is a really nice place to stay because it's close to the centre and also to the opportunities around the north of the city. We passed 4 amazing days. Thank you Matthew!
I stayed in Matthews' flat for 3 days with my parents. We loved the neighbourhood, Finsbury. You can find cool bars and places to eat, and there is a lot of supermarkets and stores to buy groceries.
Matthew was really nice to us, gave us a lot of tips and answered all of our questions.
The flat is really adorable and well furnished, perfect for 3 people (maybe 4), but it was a little bit dirty.
