About this listing
Sarasota Magazine quotes our beach cottage as " fresh and bright with a mid-century vibe that welcomes guests from all over the world and offers a refreshing alternative to the shell and fish decor of so many coastal cottages". That we do!
A stone's throw from beautiful Lido Beach near downtown Sarasota, our cheery yellow house incorporates 3 entirely separate units - 1 x 2 bedroom, 1 x 1 bedroom ( https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/756568 ) and 1 studio apartment. This listing is for the front unit, a large, bright and private two bedroom apartment with 1 queen bed, 1 king ( or 2 twins) and a large walk-in closet. For the occasional guest there is a sleeper sofa in the living room. The mattresses are comfy and the bedding new and fresh. The apartment has high speed internet, 47 in flat screen TV housed in a bespoke cabinet made by Dale, with HBO and Netflix ( with permission ). There is a fully equipped kitchen with a new Sub Zero fridge and a bathroom with the original pink tile. There are cool terrazzo floors throughout and eclectic, mid-century style furniture and decor. We installed central air and heat so you will be cozy in the winter and cool all summer long! This apartment has it's own outdoor garden space in front with a table and chairs and hammock. The newly landscaped garden is fabulous to share with other guests. There are palms, tropical plants galore and chairs and umbrellas creating different seating areas to relax and read. There are bbq grills and outdoor dining areas for guests use. It is a wonderful garden to entertain and great for those who want to celebrate an event and rent the whole house for friends and relatives. We can provide bikes, surf boards, flippers and snorkels, coolers, beach chairs and many other things for the beach. There is a free washer/dryer for guests use and parking on site. Gorgeous sunsets are also offered at no extra charge!
Our quiet street is one of the nicest on Lido Key, all low rises, with a quaint "time stood still" feel. Lido Pavilion and pool are 1/2 block away and the beach and Gulf of Mexico just beyond it. Make your coffee in the morning and wander barefoot to drink it at the water's edge. At the other end of Grant Drive are parks and mangroves and we are minutes away from nature trails, kayak rentals and access to the 4 bodies of water that make up the beautiful 100 acre South Lido Beach Park. It's a perfect area to stroll, run, bike and explore. There is also a wonderful, well run public heated pool at the end of our block.
Nearby is the elegant St Armand's Circle where you can shop and dine at wonderful restaurants like Shore and Venezia ( we will give you a long list of places all over Sarasota when you arrive! ). In fact with the bus at the end of our street that goes downtown you don't even need to rent a car during your stay! Downtown Sarasota, just across the gorgeous Ringling Bridge also offers plenty. We love the Sarasota Opera, the Ringling Museum, the Historic Asolo Theatre, the shops on Main Street, the Marina and the hundreds of different places to eat and drink.
We aim to create a calm and friendly guest house with a "boutique" style, filling the units with lovely furniture and decor and art that we have picked up on our travels.
Mostly staying on site, Dale and I will be on hand to welcome you and look after your needs during your stay. We have a business downtown, Wood Street Studio and are a sociable and friendly couple who love to travel and meet people from all over the world. We would be honored to share our space with you.

A whole private apartment with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. There are double doors that lead out onto a private paved patio complete with table, umbrella and chairs and a hammock for relaxing.
Interaction with Guests
Because my favorite part of this business is meeting travelers to Sarasota, if I am not traveling, I am very present during our guests' stay and my husband and I often interact in a social way as well as ensuring a smooth check in and that their needs are met.
Ah… Lido… such a paradise. Close to downtown, yet it's own little world by the water. Such a sweet, slow, quiet community of people who live here all year round and then an interesting influx of tourists who visit during high season makes for a perfect balance. Very casual ( barefoot to the beach with morning coffee ), beaches are fairly empty during the weekdays but busy at the weekend with Sunday erupting into a great one man band party with regulars dancing, eating lobster rolls and drinking beer and wine coolers. Sunsets are spectacular.
The bus to town is at the end of the street and goes every hour. Easy peasy, I do it all the time.
Other Things to Note
All prices quoted INCLUDE the 12% state and tourist tax we have to pay on short rentals.
We hope you fall in love with Lido Beach like we have and take full advantage of the many options at your disposal whether it be to completely relax or to learn some new water sports! We would expect the unit to be left as you found it, to only smoke outside and to respect our lovely neighbors.
We have fallen in love with Lido and hope our visitors do too. We feel our property is intimate, unique and beautiful and we are so happy to share the experience with like-minded people who will embrace our home, community and neighbors with gusto!
We do not allow smoking or pets in any of our units and encourage you to save water and electricity at all times possible. We prefer that the air conditioner be turned up to 80 or higher when guests go out. We ask all guests to be very considerate to other guests staying, taking care to keep noise levels down after hours and not leaving towels and personal belongings about the garden. Many thanks!
