Podere La Pruneta is positioned on the slopes of hills that reach from the Chianti down to the Valdarno valley in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany. Surrounded by 24 acres of Olive trees and vines, grown in the traditional way on terraces. The perfect place to relax and enjoy a peaceful stay in an idyllic setting with spectacular views over the Pratomania Mountains, along the Arno Valley. La Pruneta is a restructured small family run farm producing excellent organic extra virgin olive oil, chianti wine, white wine, vin santo, olive oil, soap and honey. There are two apartments, Masaccio and Michelangelo set in an old building with original features including wooden beamed ceilings. The apartments are studios with a kitchen-living-sleeping area and a separate marble tiled bathroom and private sun terrace.
We have also 2 other big apartments located near la Pruneta that we manage.
There are many lovely walks from your doorstep, a public outdoor swimming pool in the 'Orlando' campsite nearby and trekking available locally. Come and enjoy the Tuscan Sun.
What you can do.: You can relax on a sun lounger on the terrace, walk among the olive trees, take a longer walk through the woods, or down to the stream. The nearest village is five minutes away by car or a half hour walk through the countryside. The village has all you need, post office, supermarket, (email hidden)/ pizzeria, a bank and a chemist. We recommend if you don't come by car to hire one so you can visit the beautiful surrounding villages and towns. Radda, just up the road, Grieve in Chianti, Siena, Florence, Arezzo and many others within easy driving distance. There are lovely small villages, castles and so much more all waiting to be explored. Or you can just enjoy a glass of Chianti on the terrace and enjoy the view. We live on the property so we are always around to advise you and give you any help you may require. We offer guided tours, cooking lessons and dinners of local specialites.
This was a lovely place to stay. We were greeted with pasta and sauce upon arrival & given great recommendations from Chef Massimo. There are two different patios to sit on and enjoy your coffee or wine. And we also took a cooking lesson with the owner - much fun. Massimo also greeted us at the local gas station and drove us up to the property when we arrived. And it just so happened that Massimo needed to go to Florence on the day we were driving back to the Florence train station and he went with us - which was a godsend because we would have clearly gotten lost - and Hertz was no where to be found. He got out several times to ask others & helped us locate it. Definitely an amazing experience, greatly recommended!
We dealt with the actual host Mossimo (owner of La Pruneta) more than anything, but Elly seems to coordinate things/arrival. She was easy to understand and responded rather quickly.
The real star of this property is Mossimo and his family, who made us feel like part of their family ourselves. Not only is the property and surrounding area a beautiful place to visit, but the charm of staying on Mossimo's estate is definitely recommended. We even enjoyed a delicious, traditional Italian meal prepared for us.
You will have to drive or arrange private transport of your own, but is worth renting a car to tour the beautiful hills and cities in Radda, Castellina and other wine towns. Would definitely go back!
beautiful location - helpful operator
We had a fantastic stay in Podere La Pruneta and highly recommend it to everyone.
We spent 6 nights staying here. Its in a lovely setting with olive trees and vines and fine views of the surrounding country side. It is peaceful.
Massimo and his family made us very welcome and we had a relaxing time.
The accommodation is very basic, and the room very small - it must get hot in full summer and there are no windows to open . The bed was comfortable and there were may places to sit outside in the sun or in the shade.
Massimo took great pride in showing us the improvements he'd made to the farm and his wine making facilities. He had plenty of suggestions replaces to visit, including wine tasting and local restaurants .
This was the perfect place to unwind after a busy two week trip in Italy! We felt right at home on this beautiful farm. We loved the pets too! Massimo and his family were so gracious. Massimo provided many wonderful tips on where to visit with easy directions. The farm has easy access to trains to Florence or Rome and is an easy drive to the other hill towns as well. We would recommend a stay here. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality!!!
This place is perfect as a base for your tuskany-explorations: the studio is small, but it is fully equipped with everything you need. Moreover, there is a large terrace which is used by the guests only. The fantastic view over the olive/wine fields and the nice lavender-scent make a perfect surrounding for a glass of wine in the evening. Massimo and Rebecca and their kids are living in the same house and are available for helpful advice at all times. There are also some cats and a dog, who were very friendly.
The studio is located in the middle of tuscany and therefore makes a perfect location for visiting Siena, Florence and some other medieval places; but you definitely need a car.
We were beyond thrilled to arrive at such a beautiful place! Massimo was so helpful in getting us to the property... meeting us at a gas station so we could follow him to their home. Our welcome there was so warm! Massimo shared some of HIS wine (what he produces from the property!!) with us, as well as his delicious organic honey, fresh bread and a bowl of fruit!
The studio where we stayed was comfortable and equipped with everything we needed!
The property was in a perfect location.... just far enough away to enjoy the serenity of Tuscany but close enough to enjoy cities such as Siena... San Gimignano...Greve... many more.
We cannot wait to return in the future to enjoy more walks in the olive groves and vineyards and all of the beauty right outside the doors!
Thank you again, Massimo, for all the hospitality and your help!!
We had an enjoyable stay in Tuscany taking in the lovely views from this place and learning about their olive oil and wine making. We were travelling with friends so had adjoining studios which were exactly as described. Our only frustration was because we didn't read the description properly and didn't realise they were studio apartments which meant we both had our babies in the room with us making it tight for space and difficult to use the kitchen at night when they slept. That was our fault though. The hosts whose house is under the same roof, were lovely and incredibly helpful in everything including getting jumper leads from the neighbour for our car's flat battery. I highly recommend this place for couples who are keen to explore a beautiful part of Tuscany.
we had a great time. Massimo looked after us very well and cooked some local beef for us one night washed down with superb local wines both from massimo's private cellar and other chianti classico. The location is about as good as you can get. Perfect for exploring the region. Well worth a visit....
