the apartment is quiet large and in a great location, however El Sol is a busy street with a lot of bus traffic and street noise....a pair of ear plugs and eye shades are essential...which was mentioned in other reviews
there is no place within five blocks for breakfast or buying food...there is however a terrific way to organize breakfast: LARCOMAR, the flash high end shopping center is a 5 Soles taxi or One Sole bus ride on Avenida Grau, at the corner. All you have to do is yell "Larcomar" and a bus stops...one every few minutes. At Larcomar there's a Starbucks with a terrace overlooking the sea....also a couple of nice restaurants offer breakfast specials for around 20 soles....the best deal in Lima....stunning views. At Larcomar, the walk along the cliff goes on for miles.
I found (email hidden) online and used them during both stays in Lima...I got immediate response to my initial inquiry and confirmation that a driver would be waiting at LIM on arrival. The driver was a university professor who was driving his nice car as a side job...very highly recommended, a fair price and safe comfortable ride
Safe building in a great location, in the heart of Barranco. Stayed here twice now
Cesar's listing was accurate. Gladys was very helpful in speaking with the taxi driver to locate the apartment and getting us acquainted with the area. This is a great location. The building is gated so it feels safe. As other people commented, this can be a busy road at times. But we didn't find the street noise too bad. We have an 8 month old and had no problems. We were thankful for the kitchen, complete with coffee maker, water heater, stove, and all the dishes we needed. The washer and dryer are also really handy. This is a great apartment for a great value. It is a .50 centimos bus ride to the heart of Miraflores and only a few soles to downtown.
I chose not to stay at Cesar's place and he was kind enough to reimburse me fully
Cesar's place looked exactly as described, very spacious and homely. It is a safe building and the neighbours are very friendly. We were provided with bin bags, soaps, washing up liquid, toilet roll, kitchen roll and a new scourer. Gladys was easy to get through to and replaced the empty gas bottle very quickly for us. The location is excellent with amenities nearby. Barranco is very cool and yes, it was noisy at night but hey, this is Lima! We have booked it again for when we come back from Cusco.
Cesar's apatment is really beautiful and situated in the nice district Barranco. We enjoyed our stay there, the place was nice and clean. I would recommend to stay there if only you have some spanish as Cesar's aunt will be welcoming you - a very sweet lady, but unfortunately she doesn't speak english so the communication might be difficult.
*Someone was waiting for us in the apartment, showed us where a supermarket was, and was very helpful (given my limited Spanish)
*Location was good, near to Barranco centre where there are shops, banks and restaurants. Also near the El Metropolitano (Bus Rapid Transit) line, for quick access to the centre.
*Wifi was fast with strong signal
*Washer and dryer were easy to use
*TV had several English channels
*Maps and guidebooks were provided for us
*Apartment was very secure, 3 separate keys needed!
*Apartment could do with a good clean, the lounge was dusty, kitchen utensils needed washing before use.
*Host is in Italy, aunt Gladys is in Lima but not in the same building, and doesn't speak English
*Not as quiet as Miraflores, you will hear car alarms and car horns
*From the airport, a taxi should be 55 soles max - use Taxi Verde in the airport. Watch out for scammers charging ~50 USD (150 soles)
